Really? What exactly do you disagree with? @WaveyGodshawk@WaveyGodshawk

Mooshamoo · 24/11/2023 00:23

The Dublin riotings is top story on a lot of international news sites.

Is it true that rooters burnt a hotel down that had immigrants in it? I'm seeing that online

Yes it's on twitter trending

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 00:33

Yes they set fire to a hotel.

I'm also hearing that they may be holding back details of the condition of one of the children until the city is under control.

But it was also circulating the army had been deployed and they weren't so until its officially announced I'm hoping it's just false SM news.

What happened tonight is a boiling pot of continuous government policy failures.

We have significant issues with housing, the inability for many to rent or buy. Rising inflation, shit public health service. Under funded Garda.

The list is fucking endless. We have had rapid immigration, with the government being able to whip support out of their back pockets it seems.

We have also had increase in violent crime and some very high profile attacks.

Failure of the government to listen to struggles of its citizens allows room for civil unrest to build all around the world. And it also is a tool that does have the ability to force societal change.

And after the scenes tonight I can't wait to see the back of this government as soon as possible.

Did you see the scores of riot police protecting government buildings while Garda were being beaten just down the road? And Army barracks within spitting distance.

Disgraceful.

It's a dog whistle to racists and if you can't see that then I don't know what to say.
The vast vast majority of "New Ireland" just want to work, have a home, and get on with their lives the best they can in this fucking shitty time were living in.
Will we list out all the women and children murdered by our own home grown violent men over the last 30 years? Or does that not fit the narrative.
Yes we have many many problems in this country, and yes there is a severe unwillingness to have conversations about them and its been building since covid happened.
But utter scumbags are manipulating that and disadvantaged communities for their own ends.
Posting memes about welcome to the new Ireland is feeding in to that rhetoric where innocent people are going to wind up seriously injured or worse.
I listened to an audio clip tonight of a raging violent man orchestrating rioting in different areas, screaming to murder any foreigners they came across and if the Garda get in the way murder them too.
That's the new Ireland I want no fucking part in thanks very much.

Shakennotstirred1 · 24/11/2023 00:35

Those poor kids, the carer & the poor little girl. All the kids & teachers in the Gaelscoil. Just horrific
It's strange why he targeted that particular school, he had been hanging around there earlier in the afternoon according to the news at 9
Apparently he had been served a deportation order this year, why do the govt rely on these people to deoport themselves voluntarily. Why aren't they physically deported on the day their order is issued?

@WaveyGodshawk why is it a dog whistle? Are you trying to say there is a common denominator in these murders?🤔

WaveyGodshawk · 24/11/2023 00:37

How do we deport irish citizens? Which he apparently is according to the news also

Well why was he issued an deportation order so? 🤔@WaveyGodshawk

DontBeAPrickDarren · 24/11/2023 00:40

Maybe if people are going to spread rumours they could also include the source of said rumour so others can decide how much weight to give them?

Twitter is an absolute cesspit this evening. Truly grim.

ChanelNo19EDT · 24/11/2023 00:44

If the perpetrator was white/irish, they'd have confirmed that to try and calm down the mob. Opportunists looting, but the govt needs to read the room. No more assylum seekers

Shakennotstirred1 · 24/11/2023 00:48

What I found very interesting tonight on RTE & Prime time was that McEntee & Drew Harrison etc were very quick & definite about labelling the protesters criminals, Right Wing (the buzz word for any group not agreeing with their policies) & thugs.
BUT they didn't dare mention the nationality of the attacker. Why is that???

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 00:48

Twitter/FB and WhatsApp but will all of the craziness of today, unless things are announced officially I'm taking things with a pinch of salt.

Even the reports the person is an Irish citizen and here 20 years I saw on RTE, I watched a clip from the Grda earlier that refused to confirm the persons nationality or status.

Unless I missed something later, there is so much circulating.

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 00:50

Because the words right wing automatically position you as perceived as racist, unreasonable, uneducated and a thug.

Which deflects from the shit show of government we currently have.

babbygabby · 24/11/2023 00:56

fair point.

Yes we have many many problems in this country, and yes there is a severe unwillingness to have conversations about them and its been building since covid happened.

The problem with not having the difficult conversations is that it allows others to fill the void.

Seriously? Hmm One horrible reprehensible murder btw.

All I had to go off re his citizenship status is what I heard on the news earlier, which was that he was an Irish citizen albeit not born here.
I haven't seen anything credible that said he was issued with a deportation order. If he was then I'll obviously stand corrected on that.

You have your mind made up anyway by the sounds of things.

Shakennotstirred1 · 24/11/2023 00:59

@Wonderingforever never a truer word said. The current motely crew are using the term "right wing" for anything that doesn't fit the agenda but will always protest the attacker if it wasn't born in Ireland.
A slew of insults for the protesters tonight while protecting the knife attacker who savaged 3 children & 2 adults at all costs.
Their statements were deflecting from & protecting the murderer.
What a country we live in.

Just because you are a citizen of a country it doesn't mean your nationality changes!!!!
It just means you have papers to legally live here. The knife attacker is still Algerian & always will be due to his place of birth!

Villagetoraiseachild · 24/11/2023 01:02

Very distressing news. Hope things calm down soon.
It's hard to believe really, all of it.
Prayers for the children and their carer.

What planet are you actually on??!
"Protesters" utter scum rioters I'm sure you mean.
What do you mean protecting the knife attacker at all costs? Do you not think he should face justice for what he's done? Or is it just mob rule now. Ffs.
One of the adults being mentioned in the reports is him btw, you do know that right?

mathanxiety · 24/11/2023 01:06

Miss93 · 23/11/2023 19:40

Well what's happening today proves otherwise.
There are yobs using this as an excuse to kick off, but Sweden warned us and we didn't listen.

I'm Irish,I live in Dublin actually not too far from Parnell.
But something has to be done.
We can't let unvetted men in,we have to put our own safety first.

That's not being racist, that's just having common sense.

I'm going to compile a list of Irish born male murderers now. Just for my own personal interest.

Also, Foot Locker has been looted. Clearly the safety of the public is right at the top of the list of problems the mob was trying to address Hmm

WaveyGodshawk · 24/11/2023 01:07

I never mentioned his nationality I specifically mentioned his citizenship status which is a different thing.
And I still don't know how you go about deporting an Irish citizen but irrelevant really.

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 01:09

Looting during riots is nothing new.

It isn't like it was invented by the people in town tonight.

Riots and looting go hand in hand with societies were there are significant social and economic problems.

Which Ireland has in bucket loads.

penjil · 24/11/2023 01:11

Chickenkeev · 23/11/2023 16:35

JFC! This shit boils my piss altogether. There are loads of non irish in Ireland now, so there's every chance he wasn't. Beyond that, what the actual f*ck is your point? That non irish are more homicidal than Irish?

Well, yes, it would have to be, because the Irish aren't really homicidal at all....
