At the end of the day @mathanxiety knock yourself out if it makes you feel any better. But yesterday three children under 6 were attacked by this Algerian man.
There is no defending him but if it makes you feel better go ahead but please think of the poor children, their carer & the Brazilian deliveroo driver who prevented further knife attacks upon innocent children.

I'm in Wales, in a small village up the valley boat people male were ensconced in a four star hotel. During their stay there were 3 rapes and one knifing. Not a whisper of this was reported in the media . There's a lot of anger here.

I’m near a small town in the West Midlands. We have three hotels - a Holiday Inn, a Travelodge and a very nice independent. Two of them, the Holiday Inn and the independant, are housing asylum seekers.

School girls from the secondary schools are being propositioned in the town centre, women are being followed (one was a friend of mine who was followed by a group of men while walking her dog), one man was repeatedly waiting outside a primary school and police had to intervene. We don’t hear anything about this in the local media though and if people didn’t speak out then no one would know.

My thoughts are with those in Dublin, it’s awful. I hope the rumours are untrue.

The Holiday Inn Express that’s been attacked, is that the one on O’Connell St? If so we stayed there in September and it didn’t appear to be housing any migrants then. There certainly weren’t any hanging around outside like they do at the hotels here anyway and I know that locally the hotels are fully closed to paying guests.

Read the Twitter thread. Women have been murdered in Ireland forever, by men with names like Mick Murphy and Brendan O'Donnell. Each time we say what a disgrace it is, how women are no longer safe, as if they ever were.

It's male violence, not immigrant violence.

OK, but should we

A) Deal with the homegrown violent men as best we can because we've no choice

or B) Same as A, but also import more, often from violent and misogynistic cultures

It's not one in, one out, you know? How can you think that opening up liberal Western countries to anyone who fancies them from cultures absolutely opposed to our values won't have any effect on our society?

Dismissing the absolutely valid anger and distress that many, many people feel when crimes like this happen as "swivel-eyed frothing" (that was a truly despicable post, by the way, whoever you are) is rapidly losing its power.

I'm going to compile a list of Irish born male murderers now. Just for my own personal interest.

Also, Foot Locker has been looted. Clearly the safety of the public is right at the top of the list of problems the mob was trying to address Hmm

I counted nearly ten of their victims of the top of my head - some names just become seared in your memory don't they.
Imelda
Clodagh
Elaine
Siobhán
Rachel
Annie
JoJo
Deirdre
So many, many more.

If people want to protest immigration/ how it's been handled / government response- fine. Do that. Write to your TDs. Peacefully protest.
Just don't demean the victims of violent crime by saying it you're doing it in their names.
The men out there tonight do not give one flying fuck about women and children.

Edited: for missing word

Happening up & down the country in rural towns but the media are refusing to report it. Doesn't fit the agenda. Censorship & propoganda rule.

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 01:17

@WaveyGodshawk

What exactly is your point? No one is claiming there hasn't been violent crimes against women in Ireland before.

But it is completely and utterly disingenuous and

WaveyGodshawk · 24/11/2023 01:20

Because the way some are going on, women and children were safe in this country until all the "unvetted males" arrived. Its bollocks.

I've already acknowledged that there is massive problems in this country and we have a completely inept government who don't want to face up to them.

Inciting violence against all "foreigners" is not going to solve them either though!

WaveyGodshawk · 24/11/2023 01:26

Intimate partner violence
Homophobic violence
Random violent man.

None of these people are recent arrivals to the country either.
Or do we just close the borders altogether and go back to how we were 30 years ago?

ChanelNo19EDT · 24/11/2023 01:26

I cant sleep now. I've to go to the office tomorrow. The mob will have finished by then. I hope. I wonder if peopl6 will be advised to stay away from centre tomorrow.

@ChanelNo19EDT if the rumors are true & the poor little girl hasn't made it through the night I expect there will be riots up & down the country. Won't be isolated to Dublin.

You are repeating rumour after rumour - or do you have a source you can provide?

Miss93 · 23/11/2023 19:40

Well what's happening today proves otherwise.
There are yobs using this as an excuse to kick off, but Sweden warned us and we didn't listen.

I'm Irish,I live in Dublin actually not too far from Parnell.
But something has to be done.
We can't let unvetted men in,we have to put our own safety first.

That's not being racist, that's just having common sense.

It is being ‘racist’ or bigoted though. You don’t ‘vet’ people born in the country. Do you think they don’t commit serious crime FFS?

Wonderingforever · 24/11/2023 01:39

Sorry my phone died, No it isn't.

But screaming racism and right wing every time people dare to mention that the current government policy on immigration and the large numbers of people entering not just Ireland but Europe isn't a solution either.

We are a country that is already failing on so many fronts to provide for the people who live here.

My dd went to a large mixed sex school in Dublin leaving in recent years.

During her time in the school, sexual assault, harassment in person and online raised to levels the school had never seen since it opened in the 1960s. The school also had significant number of minority students enter around the same time.

At a meeting with the principal, imagine my surprise to be told that a large number of these incidents involved males from this minority. And it was a serious issue the school were struggling with because of lack of parental support in taking the issues seriously, and difficulties with girls willing to make statements to the Garda. When I asked why it wasn't being discussed publicly I was told these issues are 'sensitive' ie the school was afraid of being labelled racist.

Ireland has 100% an issue with violence against women and children but in comparison to some countries it is a bloody safe haven. And its unrealistic to think that migration from areas of the world with even worse issues of violence against women and children won't impact on society.

Then add into the mix the home grown problems in Ireland with you know trying to keep a roof over your head, most people working themselves half to death to have a rapidly decreasing quality of life on pretty much all fronts

Well its a perfect storm.

Ramblingnamechanger · 24/11/2023 01:40

Male terrorism against women and children comes in all shades. The common denominator is the fact that it is pretty much always men.

@AnnieSnap any person who wants to move to another country needs to provide documentation. Why is Ireland leaving undocumented people in?
If I wanted to go to Algeria which is NOT a war torn country would they leave me in with no documentation? Provide me with a social welfare allowance, give me food allowance & accommodation?
No.. I'd be told fuck off & my fat ass wouldn't be deported back to the Emereld Isle. So what is our governments agenda?

My point still stands. Also, only migrants with with a time consuming plan can provide paperwork. Those fleeing for safety often have to apply for asylum with nothing. There are some bad bastards everywhere. Most migrants are decent, hardworking people like the Brazilian migrant who assisted in restraining today’s attacker.
