Sweden was ahead with welcoming immigrants look at their crime statistics.

Almost all violence is male, I live in a UK town where we now have 600 asylum seekers in 3 hotels, all male. I don’t care where they are from what I don’t like is a lot more males added to the population and that’s the issue if those hotels had families in them no one would have any worries at all.

@MadisonAvenue and @Shakennotstirred1 same here a guy from one was arrested near my friends house recently for indecent exposure and my friend who teaches at the local secondary school has confirmed harassment of schoolgirls.

My point still stands. Also, only migrants with with a time consuming plan can provide paperwork. Those fleeing for safety often have to apply for asylum with nothing. There are some bad bastards everywhere. Most migrants are decent, hardworking people like the Brazilian migrant who assisted in restraining today’s attacker.

Brazilians, Georgians, Algerians, Slovakians, Tunisians, Moroccans, Egyptians etc are NOT fleeing warn torn countries.

Every single person crossing our bothers needs documentation. Why is it one rule for some & a different rule for the rest of us?

Disgusting & none of it makes the media.

The Irish have been extra supportive of the palastenian situation, flying the flag, painting pubs the palestinian colours, protests, fundraisers only last week. Now this.🤔.

mathanxiety · 24/11/2023 03:48

@Blanketsburg

The day I see a riot in protest against the murder of a woman by a man born and raised in Ireland, with Irish roots stretching back to auld gods time is the day I'll take arguments against immigration based on public safety concerns seriously.

Your point being? We will continue to be supportive of innocent Palestinans being brutally murdered. We are equally supportive of innocent Israelis being brutally murdered. None of that has anything to do with the attack on the school, and the subsequent riots.

travelnorth · 24/11/2023 04:45

Was the person waiting to be deported? Most of crimes I have read about it. Belgium and Reading for instance it seems to be the case that they were ordered to be deported. This is totally the government fall. However, in many instances the despicable people try to stop deportation of men who clearly are dangerous and need to go.

And extra anti semitic. Swastikas painted in Herzog Park in Rathgar yesterday, right next to the Jewish school. Why should Jewish kids have to see that?

They absolutely shouldn't. But that sort of shit doesn't make 'the Irish' anti semitic. It makes some Irish anti semitic. Like there are some Brits who are like that. And some people in mainland Europe. I'm a bog standard Irish catholic (now of no faith), i can't begin to understand what it is to be Jewish. I visited Auschwitz and i was haunted by it. Really and truly haunted. All that said, it doesn't make what's going on in Gaza ok. Any sort of misery purposefully inflicted on other human beings is just wrong.

travelnorth · 24/11/2023 05:23

People commenting that Irish nationals do not get vetted. Is this for real? Obviously they do not as all the records are in the country. If they commit a crime they are prosecuted and this is added to their criminal records. Which they would be asked for if and when move out to a new country. Obviously if there is a place where people with criminal records can go without being checked or vetted the criminals of the world would end up flocking the place. It is mad to have open borders without checking for several reasons but this being one.

In the UK we have been told its very racist to say someone who wasn't born here isn't from here

Yes he was. Ridiculous waiting to be deported. If they are asked to leave the country they need to be made go immediately through force if necessary.

I was under the (obviously mistaken) impression that they 'lifted' people without warning?

I'm not Jewish and don't live in Ireland but the Irish really stood out on this one from pictures I saw and articles I read.

Absolutely right, but there seemed very little mention of the slaughter of innocence on the other side which kicked the whole situation off. I mean, try to remain a teeny bit impartial .

This is the f*cking problem with all of this. As i said earlier, all the murders are horrific. All of them. But you've ignored that. To be horrified at what's happening in Gaza is not anti semitic, or anti Israeli. And binary thinking in stuff like this goes round in circles and ultimately ups the body count. It can't be picking a side. There will have to be a compromise somewhere. I have no idea where, i don't know enough, but what is happening right now is disgusting.

@Mooshamoo

the vast majority of Irish people back EU membership, because the pros of that membership massively outweigh the cons. It really is that simple.

Meanwhile, things like freedom of movement are non-negotiable EU concepts.

It’s not rocket science and you saying the same silly thing again and again like Ireland should “challenge” one of the pillars of the EU is utterly pointless.

ticketstickets · 24/11/2023 07:05

I'm trying to work out what little Jewish kids in Dublin 6 have to do with events in Gaza, although to be fair, the park is named after President Herzog of Israel, but I still think it is in very poor taste to draw swastikas on a playground wall where children will see it. There are other places to express your displeasure at events across the world.

I am so glad none of you have had to explain to your children what a swastika is and what it means. I am happy my kids didn't have to see this one.

You’re right, the Slovaks don’t flee war, just like the French, Germans, Austrians, Danes, Finns or any other EU member state inhabitants don’t.

Nobody, but nobody, but nobody is saying that is in any way ok. Nobody. And i assume everyone agrees it's completely horrific. But it doesn't negate the Gaza situation. We are allowed to be horriffied by both simultaneously.

So what does a British person look like? Do you think they are all white?
