A thread of appreciation of things that only seem to happen in Ireland.

I was away for two weeks and a couple of days after I returned the postman knocked on my door with a big bag of packages ( they were sent from work, only two were very delayed orders). He realised I was away so instead of leaving them and risking theft or damage he stored them for me.

Anyone else any good stories?

Oh dear, the report of theft of Christmas trees. That's so funny. If that garda got one thief per season, he did well I'd say.
Not the fastest fellow in the squad. He has the element of surprise, albeit in very slow motion.

I swear to god tho, the hatred of the dubs is shocking! Given that loads of ppl go to Dublin after college. I've always been somewhat at home there because i was born there so i never had that hatred but i'm shocked at other people's hatred of them.

But they always called me a culchie! But i married a Dub so i redeemed myself somewhat 🤣

Think I'm a bit of a Dulchie, my mother is a jackeen, my father was a culchie.

It's been soooo long since that day I can't remember much apart from the head. We did go to some woodland for a picnic too. We had to wear our school uniforms on school trips (skirt, blouse, tie, v necked jumper, and blazer) so we all looked wildly out of place.

We went on a canal boat trip one year somewhere near Maynooth, where we could look through a glass part of the bottom of the canal boat at mud, weeds, and the odd drowned fridge. Mad!

The test music on RTE Radio first thing in the morning. Memory of my childhood then the news.
