Gender Critical in Ireland Part 3

VaddaABeetch · 03/04/2023 13:07

I’m watching RTE news. They mentioned the Garda representatives organisation are concerned about Gender Identity in the workplace. It’s been brought in without consultation & without training.

the Garda Commissioner has said that Garda may be disciplined for misgendering.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Agreed, I think he's only speaking out now that he's retired. Which I appreciate, but it shows how difficult it is. Like Sonia O'Sullivan, she doesn't have to rely on sponsorship anymore, so she has more freedom to speak out.

He's not retired though. He's currently a TD for Laois-Offaly. No longer a minister however.

Thank you for posting the proper link 11 mins😊 the comments under the facebook post prove how out of step the government are with the people of Ireland!
Well done again gript & the parents of Swords & Fingal Dublin!

ohnoitsagruffalo · 07/04/2023 08:48

I wrote to my tds recently over the new proposals for teaching gender ideology in schools, I got 2 replies, one from a female sinn féin td which was very fluffy and just went on about how i should take part in the next public consultation about the matter. And then one from a male fianna fail td who said he too was very concerned about the proposed teachings and would be bringing it up in the Dail! It gave me some hope tbh. But does that mean I'm going to have to vote fianna fail 😲

RTE still haven't reported about the book being removed from the curriculum. Disgraceful silence for them considering how many parents have welcomed the move & how many hundreds of thousands of children will benefit.

ladymactíre · 07/04/2023 12:31

So People before profit is crossed off my electoral list as well 😁
Well done to parents and grandparents in Swords, Finglas demonstration. Happy to see things are moving in the right direction Bravo!

Bláthannabuí · 07/04/2023 13:07

It is a nice win & women are gaining momentum.
How are earth did that book get chosen for the school curriculum? A think the dad was right about the anti homework agenda!

ladymactíre · 07/04/2023 13:39

I've just been reading comments on AONTU's post on twitter and it's surprising how many are pro these books or name-calling again. There is no nuance anymore
No, I don't want books being burned. I want the to be read at an appropriate age. Films and tv programs have age ratings. So should books. It's simple.
Why this push over school kids having access to pornographic descriptions and imagery ?! How does this help ?!

ladymactíre · 07/04/2023 13:40

Sorry for the typos, but I managed to slice my thumb and the phone has it's own mind now 😅

ladymactíre · 07/04/2023 13:44

Did you see that EMT student talking to Matt Walsh in a clip couple of days ago? If that's the future of medical care, I give up!

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 07/04/2023 13:54

Have any of the people defending the book actually read the pages from the book?

ladymactíre · 07/04/2023 14:22

I don't know, some of them seem to have read it and argue that fisting qualifies as sex education. And it's "hugely informative " for teenagers. "You'll realize that sex is only a portion of the book" and that seems to make it ok.

ohnoitsagruffalo · 07/04/2023 21:23

Fisting?? Ffs. 🙄 how could anyone think that's ok to have in a book on the curriculum

Babasghost · 10/04/2023 20:14

Where do you see the livestream, please? I'm too far to go, but I'd love to watch

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 13/04/2023 10:12

Anyone read this on the news? link here

Why debate this particular motion in private? Apparently to "avoid potential far right attacks" - ffs why are we made out to be far right lunatics?? I cannot understand how teachers, who more than anyone are supposed to understand child development, could be in favour of teaching children that they can change their sex! I'm not practising catholic but I do agree with the points made in the CPSMA letter. There IS "a growing psychological contagion amongst young and vulnerable children" surely to god teachers are seeing this more than anyone else?

INTO condemn CPSMA over letter on transgender issues

Primary school teachers have condemned remarks made by managers of the country's Catholic primary schools about the teaching of trans issues in schools.

Hi ladymactire, just google You tube, Standing for Women. You will see the previous events there.

I have clicked on Subscribe to that channel, then it pops up when there's a live stream/feed.
They don't usually start on time, so don't panic if it doesn't come up straight away.

Sometimes the edited version is better for sound.
Sometimes the Tras are very loud so worth taking ear plugs/noise cancelling headphones if you're speaking.
If you cant hear well at the event, the close up microphone usually captures the sound for later.
