I liked Tubridy on the toy show. I didn't watch the LLS often otherwise. I think it needs a good shake-up. It's old and stale.

The weather needs to take a long hard look at itself. Enough rain already!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 21/03/2023 16:01

It's crap isn't it? (the weather AND the Late Late Grin)

JaneJeffer · 21/03/2023 16:32

Indeed @LifeInAHamsterWheel Grin

LadyEloise1 · 21/03/2023 19:05

I see Miriam has been on Twitter stating she is not to be considered for Late Late Show host. She prefers current affairs on PrimeTime. She's very good at it.

Taytocrisps · 21/03/2023 21:32

The LLS is a bit of a marathon. If it was just an hour, I might tune in. But the thoughts of sitting through two hours of it at the end of a long working week...... I watched it a good bit during Covid but let's face it, there wasn't much else to do. The only person I know who watches it regularly is my eldest sis (late 50s). That's probably because she doesn't have Netflix Grin. Even my Dad in his 80s doesn't watch it - he prefers his detective programmes. I agree with @Carriemac and @maimeo that Tubridy will probaby do some literary or historic programmes. Didn't he do a programme about JFK a few years ago?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/03/2023 22:04

I did watch it during Covid alright. It was a bit like clinging to a comforter:)

It will be good for Tubridy to do something else. Fifteen years on the show is a long time. It will be interesting to see what he will get up to. I had forgotten about his interest in history.

eggandonion · 22/03/2023 21:07

The highlight of my day was having enough points for my super valu glass ovenproof dish with snap on lid.

JaneJeffer · 22/03/2023 21:13

Congrats @eggandonion happy baking Grin

eggandonion · 22/03/2023 21:55

I will have to do meal prep and have a fridge full of healthy meals. First i need to do a lot more shopping in super valu so I have more storage containers.
I was getting vouchers for 10 off fifty but next week onwards is 11 off 75. So i need to decide between containers or better discounts in dunnes.

halfpasteleven · 22/03/2023 22:07

11 off 75?!
Doesn't seem to have the same bargain vibe as the 10 off 50!!!

Mind you, I usually shop in Aldi or Tesco so what do I know?!

eggandonion · 23/03/2023 08:52

They are trying to confuse me. But I will vote with my feet. We are getting an aldi soon. Super valu kept objecing to planning for it.
I still have points towards storage containers though.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/03/2023 11:28

Jeez it's a full time job doing the weekly shop now, having to work out where to go for all the bargains, what vouchers to use etc etc 😅 At the end of the day, everything costs a bomb! I'm doing more shopping with Tesco now whereas I used to be mostly Aldi or Lidl but I find them all on a par so it's just a more pleasant experience in Tesco and quicker because I can use the handheld scanner thingy.

In other news, it's still raining....

eggandonion · 23/03/2023 15:49

I get annoyed if i don't need enough to justify a 10 off 50 in dunnes .I would like them to reduce everything by 5 percent. That would be easier. Apart from the glass storage thing vouchers...

I do like Tesco too and I find that the club card does give big discounts but there are a few things we like from Aldi so I have to go there in the first place so I usually just get most weeks in Aldi and about once a month I have to go to bothConfused
I can't get on with Dunnes- too big for a regular shop
SuperValu is usually a nice size but none near me..
I HATE grocery shopping and having to pack it all up and then have to come home and put it all away again...

eggandonion · 23/03/2023 22:29

Have you a big posh Dunnes? Ou local one is boring. It is a trek to big Dunnes and i spend a fortune in it on unnecessary cheese.

halfpasteleven · 24/03/2023 00:04

Sorry to change the subject but have ye seen the thread about the male prisoner in limericks women's prison?

I can't do a link as I'm on my phone but it makes for a very very chilling read

Sorry link is so long - best I can do on my phone...

JaneJeffer · 24/03/2023 00:07

I haven't read the thread but I know of him Angry

Coincidentally I watched an old episode of Bad Girls last night where a trans woman (played by a woman) was put in the women's jail.

Carriemac · 24/03/2023 08:02

It's so shocking . Female prisoners are so vulnerable and no one seems to care about them

I think Leo has seen the winds of change re this topic and Sky News are now saying that unless Keir Starmer and his party is more pro biologically born women. Labour will lose the next election in Britain on Day One.
Strong words

I read today on the news that 2 people have been arrested and are being questioned about the Kerry Baby Sadcase.
That poor wee baby stabbed 28 times and left in a plastic bag on the beach in Caherciveen.
DNA testing has led to a breakthrough.
No doubt the Gardai will handle it sensitively.
Unlike back in the mid 1980s - the treatment of Joanne Hayes and her family.

eggandonion · 24/03/2023 11:23

A colleague of a friend is muslim and is very upset at gender neutral toilets at work. They are separate cubicles. I don't know how common that opinion is but it is yet another obstacle for some women to overcome.
Hard to imagine the Kerry baby mystery might be solved at last. Imagine living with that secret for 40 years.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 24/03/2023 13:52

I absolutely hate 'gender neutral' facilites. We have a second premises at work and they put in just one space for toilets so there are 4 individual cubicles that have a washbasin etc in each one and then out in the main area there are mirrors and worktop. I refuse to use them. I cannot imagine peeing (or whatever!) in a cubicle with a man from work in the next cubicle!! You can hear everything! I'm a 48 year old woman, very comfortable with my body etc. etc. but I would be mortified in that situation. It's just so unnecessary. Give us back our sex-segregated spaces we needed them for a (number of) reason!

Kerry Babies and Annie McCarrick - two cold cases that might hopefully be resolved soon 🙏

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 24/03/2023 14:02

Also delighted to read that Graham Dwyer has had his appeal dismissed Smile
