I was very sorry to hear of Deirdre Purcell's passing. Seventy-seven is no age. I don't know which of her books I read once, it wasn't the well-known one, 'Falling for a Dancer'. The story was about a girl whose family locked her up in the attic for some minor misdemeanor. It wasn't long after I had one of the kids and I was a snivelling, hormonal wreck reading it. I must go and look it up...

I read A Place of Stones years ago and I didn't like the two who were raised as brother and sister falling in love. I know they weren't blood relatives but it was still yucky!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 14/02/2023 22:06

It was 'Tell Me Your Secret'. Star-crossed lovers. Not brother and sister!

Ah that's great @Carriemac.
I was going out with a guy in Trinity. Gutted when he broke it off with me just before the Trinity Ball.

Similar happened to my ds, but a less fancy nui event. He had just bought a tie to match yer wans dress. Trinity ball is quite the social occasion. I hope she has a lovely time, the lockdowns were rotten.
Its very cold at the moment, isn't it.

It really is very cold these days and meant to get colder next week from Monday night on, but no Beast from the East ...

Oooooh, all ruggedly handsome.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 08/03/2023 19:13

A fine figure of a man with a lovely head of hair on him 😁

Has anyone had sneachta at all?

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2023 19:16

Not yet Fuzzy but it's promised by tomorrow.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 08/03/2023 19:16

Only sleet down here. Keep us posted!

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2023 19:21

Looks like it's swerving the south but it'll all be over at a minute to midnight tomorrow anyway Grin

Proper sleet here now. Where is Eibhlin Cusack to mind us ?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/03/2023 09:43

Have we heard from Teresa Manion at all, or does she only come out in stormy weather?!

It's very cold and wet this morning. It feels like January.

eggandonion · 09/03/2023 09:55

Im hoping that by next week it is a bit milder, gloomy and wet. Cold gloomy wet is too much for March.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/03/2023 10:26

Hopefully we'll get the Spring back for St. Patrick's Day.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/03/2023 11:27

Oooh we're not out of the woods yet - the Beast From The East was mid-march wasn't it?! I drove to work through a flurry of snow, the ground was very wet though so it didn't stick. I hate damp cold I'd much rather dry cold (so fussy!!) Yes, roll on Spring Time Flowers

theDudesmummy · 09/03/2023 11:29

Rural west Galway, the snow is coming down sideways

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2023 11:53

And Connacht? The weather can't decide if it's snow or just very cold rain at the moment.

Thread a deich , Deichiú snáithe, heading for year four
theDudesmummy · 09/03/2023 12:37

In my part of Connacht (north of Galway City on the east side) still very much snow, huge flakes and going horizontally
