DeanElderberry · 01/02/2024 09:56

St Brigid's day greetings to all. No shadows to be seen this morning, so maybe it's going to get warmer. And it is now SPRING!

I even remembered to pick rushes and made a cross last night and left it outside, so hope for all sorts of blessings and good fortune.

JaneJeffer · 01/02/2024 11:28

Beannachtai Lá Féile Bríde go leir.

Well done @DeanElderberry!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 01/02/2024 12:29

Happy St. Brigid's Day! Spring is in the air.

eggandonion · 01/02/2024 18:54

I love to see the daffodils . I find autumn and winter miserable.
Go February.

eggandonion · 19/02/2024 11:42

How is everyone? My daughter and my bil have both had covid so that is still there.
Our hose and car are falling apart. The boiler man is supposed to contact me to service it. It would be easier to get a new boiler than the annual service saga. I need minor plumbing work. I need a minor chimney repair...i hope they're minor. I have contacted the window and gutter man. Our grass is a foot high and too soggy to cut.
I need rte to come and declutter me on telly.

LadyEloise1 · 19/02/2024 13:07

All good here, thankfully.
But I'm fed up listening to news re RTE and payments. Yes it's sh*t, it shouldn't have happened and Dee Forbes should be forced to answer questions but the financial overrun on the ill sited Children's Hospital really makes my blood boil.
I think the RTE stuff is a a very convenient diversion for the government.
Shame on them all.

JaneJeffer · 19/02/2024 13:40

I know how you feel @eggandonion the house is getting on my nerves. I could keep a handyman in work for a year, if only I had one.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 19/02/2024 13:53

Hi everyone! All okay here. It's our second Leaving Cert in a row which is a bit draining, however, we'll get there.

My house needs a good spring clean and the cats are shedding their winter coats so we are floundering in fluff.

Our boiler needs a service too. And the car failed the NCT. It's rusty. And the windows could do with a clean.

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2024 13:56

The spring sunlight shows up the dirty windows alright!

I'm in the market for a power washer after spending hours, scrubbing and washing dogs yard with garden hose on Sat. Have started a thread to see which one I should buy.

JaneJeffer · 19/02/2024 14:04

We're a leaving cert house this year too Fizzy. The mocks results will be interesting, yikes!

JaneJeffer · 19/02/2024 14:04

Fuzzy!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 19/02/2024 14:15

Thinking of ye! 🍷☕️🍰🍀@JaneJeffer

eggandonion · 19/02/2024 14:15

I would like a handyman for 3 hours a month. And for him to be available for extra hours when necessary.
Especially if he knew a boiler service person. I looked at bord gais who service boilers. Except for a long list of boilers they dont. Including mine.
My neighbour is getting solar panels. There are 4 men involved who spend a lot of time looking up at the roof and vaping.

JaneJeffer · 19/02/2024 14:25

I hope they're giving you "diet coke break " entertainment @eggandonion Grin

JaneJeffer · 19/02/2024 14:27

Thanks Fuzzy good luck to ye as well. I feel like DS2 has been at school for an eternity what with all the lockdowns and everything!

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 19/02/2024 14:34

Hello everyone
Diet coke break Grin now I'd love that, but you have to be a certain vintage to remember!

It was lovely to have the bit of sunshine I wish it would hang around longer, I believe there's another cold spell on the way...

A handyman would be put to good use in our house I can tell you. A few big jobs and an accumulation of annoying little jobs. I should probably learn how to do DIY myself but I'm not sure I'd get the time.

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2024 15:09

There's great satisfaction in doing the diy yourself I find.

Having said that, I've a very long list because I don't have much time or there's something better to do.

I've an all rounder builder/handyman for my extension due to start soon, and these little diy jobs that are big to me are small to him, so I might just store them up.

eggandonion · 19/02/2024 16:38

We had a lovely man who did our ensuite and some tiling and painting. He noticed things that needed fixed and did them too. Then as bold as brass moved away. Disgraceful behaviour.
No the solar panel men weren't easy on the eye. Just noisy. My neighbour had a fine thing of a tiler before Christmas.

Happierwithouthim · 19/02/2024 16:42

egg how dare he move away! Shock
my builder did ensuite, painting, tiling, put down timber floors, built a wall in oct/nov was meant to be back in jan but is now sick Sad it'll be worth waiting for.

My dm aged 69 taught my 10 year old the phrase builders bum while he was working at mine during the midterm break Grin

eggandonion · 19/02/2024 19:03

I hope he is better soon. Really good tradesmen are the most wonderful people.
I would pay extra for someone just to turn up.

If people think that's difficult they should try the Modh Coinníollach Grin

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 20/02/2024 19:48

Argh! Who said 'Módh Coinníollach'? 😱

Taytocrisps · 24/02/2024 14:59

Anyone watching the rugby? Michael D. looks tiny compared to some of the rugby players, especially the Welsh captain 😀.

dickdarstardlymuttley · 24/02/2024 15:24

Love the Rugby
