Midge Ure was good.

eggandonion · 01/01/2024 00:21

Being young and hip we enjoyed Picture This 😎

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2024 00:23

I'm watching Rick Astley. I switched to RTÉ for the countdown but it was late again!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 01/01/2024 00:23

I liked Teenage Dirtbags but switched over to Jools Holland then.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 01/01/2024 10:58

Happy new year Craicnetters!
We celebrated with Rick Astley and didn't turn over to RTE at any stage because we are turncoats and the London fireworks are always the best
The last 10 days feel like 3 months 😳 I need a serious detox mostly from sugar, I'm not sure whether to cut back gradually or go cold turkey.
I bought kettlebells in Aldi so that's a start 😆

Saw my first 2024 car.
It was a Lexus with a Galway plate.

I hadn't realised I hadn't seen one yet until you mentioned it! Love this every year, seems to be getting later every year though

Who is watching Room to Improve? Not sure that building fabulous extensions is a great use of grants...as I sourly contemplate my tax form and wondering how wisely my money will be spent.
Very few people seem to buy places that Dermot works on. A lot inherit.
Back to work to fund my lavish lifestyle.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 07/01/2024 23:38

Jane and I are! Jane started a thread on it, egg.
Yes. It was beautiful in the end. Part of me applauds the effort and the resources that were poured into it and I acknowledge that farmhouses like this are a part of our rural heritage.
At the start though I was thinking that one tap of a hammer and the place was going to fall down! The roof was in bits.

eggandonion · 08/01/2024 19:54

I don't like the cold. Brrr.

halfpasteleven · 08/01/2024 21:22

It's tipped to hit -5 in places tonight..

Take care on the roads everyone.

So funny 😂

eggandonion · 18/01/2024 18:17

I am so cold...I can't wait for nice wet weather.
Poor Leo looks very cold in Davos. I wonder when the general election will be.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 21/01/2024 13:33

I hope everyone stays safe today.
Storm Isha is shaping up to be a bad one!

Taytocrisps · 22/01/2024 08:29

Hope everyone got through Storm Isha ok. It was a bad one. I've never heard of so many fallen trees! Maybe they've been weakened by all the storms we had and this one just finished them off. Seems like every road out of my town was blocked by a fallen tree at one stage - and I'm not even in a red county. The power flickered at one stage and I thought it was going, but it came back.

Our friends were due to fly out from Dublin last night around 7 p.m. but their flight was cancelled ( at very short notice) so they booked into a hotel for the night. They're flying out this evening instead.

Hope there isn't too much damage.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 22/01/2024 08:55

It was very wild down south but much worse in the west and north west, it seems. Our power flickered as well but we kept it. There was mad shenanigans for air travellers! It must have been awful to have been on a plane.

JaneJeffer · 26/01/2024 23:35

What the feck is this demonic thing we're sending to Eurovision?

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/01/2024 00:01

They are Bambi Thug. Dd, the Eurovision fan here, is very excited that they have been selected. She didn't think they would get the public vote. Very Malificent vibes and from Cork so obviously fabulous.

eggandonion · 27/01/2024 00:06

Big discussion here on what school did yer wan go to!

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/01/2024 00:13

That would be interesting to know!

😂😂😂

DeanElderberry · 27/01/2024 12:32

calls herself 'non-binary' while presenting in the most stereotypically girly way imaginable, very very thin but with clothes that emphasis her bust and hips, pale face, long hair, darkened eyes, mouth, nails (extra long so she can't do unfeminine work). A bit like Abby Sciutto in NCIS 20 years ago, though Abby had hands that could do work. Same shoes as Abby too.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/01/2024 12:55

I'm glad it's not the boy band. They don't look like they are ready for their Junior Cert never mind the Eurovision.

The Aisha one was screechy and annoying. Couldn't stand to hear them again.

Erica Coady. Good voice, good performer but a dated song and the dancers in the string vests and sunglasses were so cringy. Stereotypically gay. Look! We're gay.

The rapper and singer were quite good.
It might have worked.

The Australian girl in the red sequinned suit was quite good. A safe bet. Nothing new.

I didn't have a favourite in the line up.
Bambi Thug will make a splash at least. She...They remind me of the guy that I really liked last year. The goth guy Luke Black ('Hello? Samo mi se spava') but his song was much better. I don't like Bambi's song so far and I don't think it's going to grow on me.
