It is terrible. And not new, alas. Some people get great care in UHL, but anyone who uses it has depressing and in some cases terrifying stories. The crazy thing about Limerick is that this is the new (less than 10 years iirc) enlarged expanded emergency department. The 'centre of excellence' that justified closing down the emergency departments in Nenagh and Ennis. Those hospitals both need to be let do their full jobs, and Limerick needs a new hospital, preferably just off the motorway, linked to the new (about to be launches) bus service, and with proper provision for patient services like laundry.
Something also needs to be done about the lousy management - if hospitals in the south-east can function properly despite all the challenges, what the hell is wrong with the people running those in the south and mid west?
