We went to a cafe last Sunday and were asked for our Covid pass and ID. I struggled to get my licence card out of my wallet and she said oh it's ok just show me your bank card with your name on it! I was at a book launch in a hotel recently and the man ahead of me said he'd forgotten his phone and "didn't want to go the whole way home for it" but assured the concierge he was definitely vaccinated so they let him in! So I guess it depends on who you get on the day Confused

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/12/2021 11:27

It definitely depends on the place.

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2021 11:31

Or who's on the door if you're talking about our local!

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/12/2021 11:41

Yes! There's a randomness to it alright :)

LadyEloise1 · 09/12/2021 19:28

The HSE saying there isn't a problem at vaccination centres. Angry
My aunt was there today and it was shambolic.
People had got a text from the HSE to go to a walk in centre for their booster.
So they did.
In their droves.
Despite what Micheál Martin says.
Idiot.
He is so out of touch.
But they were turned away.
After queueing for two hours !

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/12/2021 19:53

Ugh... imagine queueing up for two hours for nothing. They certainly got that wrong.

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2021 20:40

I can't cope with Micheál Martin Angry

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2021 22:56

Claire Brock was too nice to him tonight.

honeyrider · 10/12/2021 00:41

I got my booster vaccine at my county's MVC yesterday, I had an appointment but I was shocked at how empty it was. Straight in and out in 20 mins. While I was waiting the 15 mins in the post vaccination area the most that were waiting there was 13 and that was only for a few mins.

There were so many staff either standing around chatting or on on their phones because they had nothing to do, they must have been bored out of their brains. Appointments only - no walk ins which is madness when there were so many staff available in the arena.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 10/12/2021 12:02

It does all seem a bit shambolic doesn't it. Jesus you'd think by now we'd have nailed this vaccine rollout Hmm Hopefully people will get their boosters asap, it's annoying to hear Paul Reid and Government officials giving out about people not turning up to appointments when we all know the reality is that the system is making a total mess of it!

Brendan o Connor was talking about people not going yo their appointments for boosters.
I don't think that is happening. I believe people are not being informed that appointments are being made for them.
Somewhere there is a breakdown in communication.

Yes, I would say so. Is it because we have the option to make the appointment ourselves for the booster, whereas we were waiting to be called the first and second times?
LifeInAHamsterWheel · 11/12/2021 21:33

I'd say that's part of it alright Fuzzy people have been able to get it in the chemist sooner but then can't cancel the HSE appointment, others have been given multiple appointments so turn up to one but can't cancel the others. It's a mess.

LadyEloise1 · 13/12/2021 17:02

Things are bad, even Luke O' Neill has the covid now.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/12/2021 19:39

I know, LadyEloise1 !
Poor Luke.
Sometimes I feel we're all going to get it eventually.

Iblinkedandiamold · 13/12/2021 19:53

Hearing that was like hearing the end of the world was coming. Poor Luke. I am taking antigen tests every Friday, I am so glad they've cone down in price. It's great for my paranoia.

eggandonion · 14/12/2021 19:44

Luke only has nasal symptoms though, his lungs are fine.

JaneJeffer · 15/12/2021 11:26

Has anyone had the booster and how did you feel after it if so? I'm trying to decide whether to leave it until after Christmas.

eggandonion · 15/12/2021 13:27

Friend had it yesterday, 3rd Pfizer. She was a little achey, and a little chilly, but not too bad.
I think it depends on working hours and days, and getting appointments as opposed to a walkin queue?

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/12/2021 14:30

DH had it yesterday, also third pfizer. He has an achy arm but okay otherwise.

Joolsin · 15/12/2021 17:47

I had Moderna on Saturday morning. Very achey sore arm by night time and through Sat night my entire arm felt boiling hot and kept waking me up. Took a few paracetamol Sun morn and grand since. So delighted to have the booster, still.

JaneJeffer · 15/12/2021 18:14

Thanks everyone. I don't know what to do. I have stomach problems and I don't fancy having any side effects on top of that the week before Christmas. Don't fancy Covid either. I'm so sick of it all.

We have a walk in centre @eggandonion

Joolsin · 15/12/2021 19:19

@JaneJeffer are you eligible to get it now? I'd try and get sorted asap if I were you so any possible side effects are well gone by Christmas week.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 15/12/2021 21:14

Yes, I agree with Joolsin to get it done and over with as quickly as possible. Were you unwell after it previously, Jane?
It looks like the over forties might start on the week of the 27th.
