I'm on my first mini holiday as lockdown lifts in England . In a hotel room with a bath in it, and a view . Outdoor dining only but - Courtyard rooms with own entrance so very distanced and it's breakfast on the room but I feel weirdly happy 😃

Great title. Lig amach mé!

Joolsin · 06/05/2021 17:42

Also loving the final comment on the last thread. I'm so excited about registering for the jab next week. I'm hearing of more and more friends getting their appointments and it's making me so happy!

Apileofballyhoo · 06/05/2021 17:43

Feel like Joe Duffy should get more credit - women's and children's issues seem to get covered on liveline quite a lot.

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 06/05/2021 17:45

I'm turning the immersion back on.

Also considering turning the heating on in the thread.

I'm freezing. It's May!! This is wrong.

eggandonion · 06/05/2021 17:45

@Carriemac....you are actually on holiday! Where...seaside, lakes, mountain, city? Is it cold? Its like a perfect winter day here.

MarDhea · 06/05/2021 17:49

@LadyEloise

Fuzzy I love your closing comment on the last thread too Grin

Enjoy your break, Carrie. Make the most of it!

Ah lads, here ye are, almost lost ye after the last thread.
Someone put on the kettle, it's bloody freezing here still. I had notions, putting suncream on the children when we were out for a walk at the weekend. The winter's not out yet.

I saw a great hack for putting on sun cream on children - use a make up brush to put it on their face- so much quicker and evenly applied!
  • Haven't tried it myself but will try it out once we can get back out in the sunshine without winter coats and hats
Thesagacontinues · 07/05/2021 08:02

It looks like its going to be a glorious sunny day today and now wishing I had put suncream on DS as he will probably spend a lot of the school day outside.

Back to showers for the weekend though.

Carriemac · 07/05/2021 08:44

We are in Somerset Jane Austen country celebrating a big anniversary a year and a half late . It's sunny and cold and we are about to climb Glastonbury Tor and then do a walking tour of Bath. .
It all feels exotic - even getting packed was strange and making
Menu decisions is so exciting !

Oh Carriemac lucky you. A weekend away in a different place Smile
I visited Bath. Interesting and lovely.
On Mumsnet threads the Glastonbury area has a " woo" feeling apparently. Some find the atmosphere in the area oppressive.
Let us know if you sense it.

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 09:49

I've only been through that area once, heading for the Swansea Cork ferry. It looked lovely, I'd like to see Bath and the Tor. Or anywhere that isn't 20 minutes from home, enjoy!
With all the talk of fake Twitter accounts, I would be so liable to get them mixed up. My husband has a couple of very gossipy colleagues, if they were let loose on Fake Twitter there would be mayhem.
He is currently talking to someone in New Zealand who went there for ten weeks, but has been there for 3 months and is going to stay a bit longer. She could isolate on return on a family farm, but quarantined in New Zealand and doesn't want to go back into a hotel. Her little girl is having a normal childhood there.

AnnieJ1985 · 07/05/2021 10:05

oh @Carriemac that sounds like bliss. A menu. Imagine!

I can't wait to go somewhere, anywhere at this point. I think I have become a real homebird in the last 12 months, so I might need a wee push to actually go, but the thought of seeing a different view - my view here isn't v inspiring, as lovely as my neighbours across the road are - is really appealing.

Cold but lovely and sunny here in my end of Dublin - I might go out for a walk for 10 mins at lunchtime to get me through the afternoon slump. I find I am exhausted by Friday afternoon - I think the communal worry about what the feck is going on has left a lot of people drained.

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 10:10

I think I'd need a big push just now.
I don't understand why a few short weeks ago we were better told off by dr Ronan, and now we are all going to have an optimistic summer. My ds says it is all mathematical models.

FinallyFluid · 07/05/2021 11:25

I’m more than sorry, says marquee owner after 120 attend Longford wedding party.

Well that is alright then, isn't it. Angry

FinallyFluid · 07/05/2021 11:45

We are in Somerset Jane Austen country

Don't let the people of ' Ampshire hear you say that, there will be uproar. Grin

Enjoy your break, I am not at all envious, she said lying badly through gritted teeth.

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 11:47

I have been in Hampshire and Dorset. In the olden days.

LadyEloise · 07/05/2021 12:13

Oh the wedding in Longford.Angry
Don't get me started.
I couldn't go to the funeral of a very close relation up North and had to stand outside the church when my beloved cousin died suddenly. Sad

Basically two fingers to the authorities and the rest of us.

FinallyFluid · 07/05/2021 12:16

I am on the Surrey/ Hampshire border.

We have many fabulous pieces of land nearby that have been invaluable during lockdown. My closest is The Ranges, it is huge and straddles both counties.

This one was mentioned on a local FB page.

images.app.goo.gl/fMTfsUQTqrJ8nzKZ9

Anyhoo, someone put on FB that a bodywarmer had been found up on the above ranges, someone local asked if it had been found on the Surrey (perceived as posh) side or the Hampshire side.

A local wag said, it mentions a bodywarmer so it is clearly Hampshire because if it was Surrey it would be gilet from Joules. Grin

You possibly had to be there, but it did make me Grin

HAHAVeryBunny2 · 07/05/2021 12:25

Had to change my name as forget my old login details. Beautiful day today in Dublin, probably the nicest all year.
Just a heads up, Lidl are selling covid tests kits for €24.99, got a box they have 5 testers inside.
They only allow boxes 5 per customer as they don't want the same thing to happen when people were buying up hand gel and selling them on at crazy prices.

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 12:34

I was amazed by the New Forest, it's huge, and so wild. Places that are vast and empty beside urban centres are fascinating. There is a back road near us, through Rafeen @IsFuzzyBeagMise,which is amazingly Middle of Nowhere (and want a scenic route back from the dump!).

eggandonion · 07/05/2021 12:35

How do you do the lidl test?

Yes, that right egg. Last weekend I found out about the woods in Garryduff. I had no idea they existed.
