Egg I loved your detailed description of Leo's wardrobe!

Good summary all right!

ismiseeire · 31/03/2021 23:51

The one thing I spent money on all along was dc shoes. DD for e.g. has long narrow feet. Echo shoes were the best for her. They had to wear black shoes to school and they ran around in them. Always got her fitted for shoes until she was about 6. Now of course she wears every brand of trainers going and can buy them online. I can't. I have to see if they hurt me first before I buy. For a child, I would always get them good shoes.

ismiseeire · 31/03/2021 23:52

In fact Echo were the only brand in the shop who had little shoes in her long skinny foot size. We always ended up with Echo on most visits. I do not work for Echo (they're probably gone out of business these days!).

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 23:56

They are still around, ismiseeire. I have a pair, love them :)

IwishIwasontheN17 · 01/04/2021 00:34

The notification had barely beeped on my phone telling us shoe shops were open by appointment and I was on the phone to them 😂

ismiseeire · 01/04/2021 00:48

No idea whether this is true, but your shoes when you're a child and adult can affect your hips when you're older apparently. You need shoes which support whichever side of your foot you pronate on. Always got dd Asics when a child. Now of course, fashionable Nike or other brands are all that she'll consider. To be fair, I've spent 2 decades in stilettos so I'm no one to judge. Also a dancer, which also fucks you up.
When she was a toddler, she walked around barefoot inside and only had decorative shoes for outside lest we be judged! Of course I was judged for not putting socks on her. I'd rather take the comments on the chin than have her upskuttle herself on a laminate floor while losing her footing in socks! At least in their bare feet, they have grip. Mind you it took me years to re-train her to keep shoes on indoors.

Best line in it....->
Attendances at funerals is to increase to 25 people, or 1,000 people if it’s for a former Provisional IRA member in Northern Ireland. Grin Grin

Iblinkedandiamold · 01/04/2021 09:10

I love WWN. I saw a big funeral in Mayo I think. Most of the comments were Lovely send off, lovely man. Etc. I thought Bloody hell if that was a traveller the comments wouldnt be as nice.
Although I know from the comments in Carrick it was more about people coming outside the county, a lot of yellow reg, rather then the amount at the grave yard.

Iblinkedandiamold · 01/04/2021 09:13

I've just realised it's the april 1st(Thanks weather man) Maybe this whole thing has been one big April Fools joke?? Wishful thinking?

Taytocrisps · 01/04/2021 10:32

Shocking about that young girl with autism who was referred to a HSE service and given an appointment for November 2026!

eggandonion · 01/04/2021 10:35

I think it was an error. But parents seem to have to go public to get anywhere. And not all parents have confidence to query state agencies.

Emeraldshamrock · 01/04/2021 14:26

Great news on the shoe shops.
HSE service and given an appointment for November 2026! I'm not sure it was a mistake DS got an appointment in December for 2025. Thankfully he is already waiting on the list since 2019 so might get an appointment this year. 🤣
We use private therapies time is critical for longterm results with OT and play therapy.

eggandonion · 01/04/2021 15:33

On the one hand we should be glad the hse and government don't run shoeshops. On the other hand, I know prosthetics are not easily replaced when outgrown. Confused

FinallyFluid · 01/04/2021 17:08

Genuine question

www.thejournal.ie/coombe-hospital-vaccine-review-family-5398704-Apr2021/

If the Beacon are getting a well deserved kicking, why are there no names in this report ?

eggandonion · 01/04/2021 17:28

I read something about it being before the protocol was in place?
I'm sure so many staff there are from ethnic minorities around the world, a better use could have been made of the spares.

FinallyFluid · 01/04/2021 17:48

I despair I really do.

Emeraldshamrock · 01/04/2021 18:49

The cronyism is embarrassing for Ireland. 😳 more stories will come out.
I don't care about my vaccine I'll wait. I do care for the elderly and vulnerable who are getting shafted.

LadyEloise · 01/04/2021 19:10

Are the pubs shut fully ?
Was sitting near a pub today and noticed a few people with pints of stout in plastic glasses sitting and standing nearby.
The guards arrived down but caught no one.
I didn't actually see the pints being handed over but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....

3timeslucky · 01/04/2021 19:22

I think the pubs have been asked not to sell take-away but it isn't illegal for them to do so.

halfpasteleven · 01/04/2021 19:24

@LadyEloise
DP was in work on Monday and told me one of his colleagues came in "dying from the night before"

I in my innocence asked him, From what, drinking at home?
DP: "No, he was in a pub all day Sunday. In town"

Apparently certain pubs haven't closed at all since Christmas.

It makes me so mad.
And I too despair @FinallyFluid

Emeraldshamrock · 01/04/2021 19:37

Some pubs are doing takeaway pints people take them 6 feet away and return for a 2nd. www.dublinlive.ie/news/health/ireland-pubs-takeaway-pints-dublin-19984398

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 02/04/2021 08:32

Yes it's definitely happening. Like many small towns around the country we have about 20 pubs! And one of them has been doing this all along. Drives me mad. Where it is has a large green area nearby and people are getting their pints and then congregating at the green area. As well as being on top of each other they leave an awful mess as there's only one outside bin. They are mostly young people and I do feel sorry for them, but at the same time if this pub weren't operating like this then they (the young ones) wouldn't be able to do it. When the weather is even remotely nice the crowds are unreal. How can we ever expect numbers to come down with this carry on?! The pub does a big trade in takeaway food too so it's always busy. I despair.

CherryValanc · 02/04/2021 09:02

I saw a picture of a large grassy area next to a pub which was by the Dodder in Dublin and the mess was unreal.

I've no idea how a mind works so someone thinks it's acceptable to leave thier rubbish behind
