@FinallyFluid

St Gerard's hung the bacon out to dry yesterday, they repeatedly said that they were told that it was being offered with the knowledge of the HSE.

And now the CEO of the VHI .Angry

Awkward parent’s evening forthcoming 😂

The measly lift on restrictions mean I can meet my sister, both of us are glad of that. We had no expectation of getting anywhere near home home for another while, so not too disappointed.

Would love some non-essential retail to open though. I need some new clothes but am between sizes, and can't be arsed ordering and returning online.

Mayzee · 31/03/2021 13:27

And then there's the big question ... 2nd jabs where????

Live in the six one news gets my vote Grin

Looks like Children's shoe shops will be allowed to open, listening to Stephen Donnelly on RTE News at One.

The mention of children's shoes strikes the fear of God into politicians because they remember a FG / Labour government fell because of VAT being put on children's shoes in the budget of 1982.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 14:01

That's good. Shoes are definitely an essential item.

eggandonion · 31/03/2021 14:06

Now all we need is a shoe shop, Fuzzy. I don't know where the nearest children's shoe shop is.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 31/03/2021 14:10

Ah stop, Egg. I can't get over the closing of Bateman's here. They were so good!

LadyEloise · 31/03/2021 14:41

Just announced that Children's shoes can be bought in store by appointment only.

CherryValanc · 31/03/2021 14:43

I was just coming on to sat is the government reading this thread

Shops to be allowed sell children's shoes in store, by appointment only jrnl.ie/5397166

I'd have liked an appointment so I could have dealt with my bold children in privacy!
I suppose it's a start, can Dunnes sell them too?
I bought my dd1 emergency school shoes in Dunnes once, she wore them all day and complained they had hurt her. She hadn't taken out the cardboard that kept them in shape.

It worked perfectly well last time, was it last summer? (Timeline is hazy...)

A bit of common sense, like!

AnnieJ1985 · 31/03/2021 16:53

Paschal Donohoe was on Ireland AM today and got a bit of a grilling about kids shoes, so they must have had a crisis Zoom session after that!

Iblinkedandiamold · 31/03/2021 18:01

Yay, no more children falling over because of ill fitting shoes.

eggandonion · 31/03/2021 18:02

He had a bit of a hissy fit on Morning Ireland. Most of the cabinet have children - most of them also have wives who are probably giving them grief.
I'm sure Leo has lovely shoes, suitable for all occasions - shiny wedding ones, smart funeral ones, loafers, converse for picnics in the park, yachting shoes, runners for different surfaces, wellies for the ploughing. And a nice fitted wardrobe. But I'm sure his mammy always made sure he had nice shoes.

Do many fall over? My dd2 was constantly falling over her shoes. She still blames me, we discovered Ricosta fitted her best.

SuddenArborealStop · 31/03/2021 18:33

DS falls over but I'm never sure if it's the shoes or clumsiness from growing .
Delighted about shoes, if anyone knows of anywhere in Dublin 14 or near that will do it ... Will Clarkes open I wonder

Lucent · 31/03/2021 19:06

In fairness, if Leo's Ploughing Championship wellies had looked any more box-fresh, someone would have been running after after him shouting 'Shoplifter!'

AnnieJ1985 · 31/03/2021 19:09

Cripps in Terenure posted about it earlier, if that is close to you. Maybe Clarke's in Nutgrove?

LadyEloise · 31/03/2021 19:10

Clarkes in Dundrum ?

There's a children's shoe shop in Goatstown. It's an independent business I think. If they have survived the lockdowns it might be nice to support a small business

Called Sandra's Shoes or something along those lines.

SuddenArborealStop · 31/03/2021 20:36

Thanks for the shoe shop help, I did get a toddler measure device first lockdown but when we went back to Clarkes after he got measured totally different so I've no confidence in my abilities there.
DH used to work in a shoe shop so he should be ashamed of himself Smile

eggandonion · 31/03/2021 21:23

Various GB and NI relations in their early fifties have been vaccinated, people in their forties have appointments. Age cohorts seem to be working very efficiently - although their second jab might put paid to that!
Poor Sharon has been standing all through the nine o'clock news, why s she not allowed to sit down? Catriona can stand and sit.
