A sixth thread in Craicnet!!

Who thought that would ever happen!!? Has there even been a sixth page before?

I came to MN after a friend told me about AIBU. We had both been on an American crafting forum which occasionally kicked off in the most enthralling fashion, but she said it was nothing to AIBU. She was right! I also like the Relationship board and FWR is important reading.

Don't think I'm going to watch the MM/PH programme, I think there's fault on both sides.

I can't wait to travel again, to go to gigs and pubs (cheese toastie in Grogans on a Saturday afternoon 😋) and to see friends. Although I think I've lost the art of conversation a bit.

eggandonion · 08/03/2021 18:01

I'm fascinated by the baby names threads, and if I ever have grandchildren I plan not to interfere in naming them. I will be the best ever mil, having read all the awful things that can happen.

SionnachRua · 08/03/2021 19:36

I just enjoy MN for the ridiculousness tbh, I think it's full of WUMs and drama queens. It's not a site I take seriously at all and a lot of it doesn't align with my personal views. Give me Reddit any day.

I won't be watching Harry and Meghan but I have a lot of sympathy for them. It's a godsend for the royal family really as it points the press at H&M and away from Prince Andrew.

CherryValanc · 08/03/2021 19:56

What's WUM?

My mind is else where and I just can't work out.

Wind Up Merchants. Should've explained that one actually, sorry about that!

Iblinkedandiamold · 08/03/2021 21:03

I wont be watching the interview either, no interest at all.
Today was a great day. Sun was shining, my little ones were back. I got lots of hugs and "I missed you"
They were so happy to be back. I was so happy to see them, we're like a crazy family. Grin

LadyEloise · 09/03/2021 10:32

Iblinkedandiamold
Delighted you are happy back at work.
If anyone is watching Smother ( RTE 1 ) will you join me on the thread I just started about it.
If you're not watching, it's worth a watch.

Mayzee · 09/03/2021 14:55

I’d love to join you for the chats. I’ve been on Mumsnet for years, came across from MM to read a thread from a poster who went into very premature labour on holiday in the US and had to stay there for months after.
I get absurdly invested in reading threads about British private schools even though I will never need to avail of British schooling Grin
I mainly post on the dating thread because I’m dating again after coming out of a long marriage and it’s nice to find like minded people to talk to as I know no one dating in real life!
Was lurking on the previous thread sharing all of your views on lockdown homeschooling etc

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/03/2021 15:20

Hello to all the new posters! It's such a nice board Smile

I did watch the interview, helped along with my wine!! My god it was long! If I'd known it was going to be that long I wouldn't have watched it! I still feel it was in poor taste and actually there weren't any huge 'revelations' were there? Now the whole world is talking about them, and they saying they wanted to keep a low profile?? But I suppose for the royal family it's a welcome distraction from the Andrew fiasco Hmm

Well it wouldn't be an 'Irish' board if we didn't talk about the weather, so... my God the weather has turned crap again where we are! The forecast was for it to be really shitty from tomorrow but already we have really strong winds and depressingly grey skies again.

I haven't watched Smother, sorry. We only have the one telly so I really have to choose my viewings wisely - I messed up with that interview!! I cannot WAIT for Line of Duty though, will definitely be watching that Smile

eggandonion · 09/03/2021 16:06

Miserable looking weather here today.
I think we could have done with edited highlights of the interview. I wish things had worked out better for them in England, and they could have downsized their commitments or something. I get the impression that Meghan's hard work, but it might be culture clash? Dh had an American colleague whose wife used to upset support staff, she was very bossy.
I can't imagine having to curtsey in private, but I don't mix in those circles.

LadyEloise · 09/03/2021 16:13

I had to turn off Joe Duffy today - there were two women with two very opposing views on Megan arguing.

BasicMadeira · 09/03/2021 17:53

Hi All, just to join in as fellow long term MN lurker and occasional commenter. Lived in the UK for years and like the humor and way of them (good and bad) and love AIBU for a good gossip thread. Found this while breastfeeding my babies (now much older) and it got me through long long nights.

Watched Oprah last night. I think the truth is in the middle somewhere... not sure why they needed to ask to see a therapist or any other medical professional that sounds odd, the security was brought up as the issue but if they were being paid and were that fussed about it surely they could have funded it themselves, agree that it was on the cards that their children would not be titled as Charles wants to streamline the monarchy. The comment about the babies colouring needs context to judge properly. All in all a giant mess. I wish them happiness but I think Harry is understandably not sure what to do next whereas MM is more worldly wise.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/03/2021 20:46

I like your summary @BasicMadeira!

eggandonion · 09/03/2021 20:54

I wanted oprah to ask Meghan how she was able to have a baby shower in New York, and cart all the loot back to her English cottage when the queen had locked away her passport.

Iblinkedandiamold · 09/03/2021 21:45

Anyone hear anything about Eoghan McDermott from 2fm? Wonder if the rumours are true although I'm not 100 per cent sure what the rumours are.

The weather sucks, luckily I have a mountain of arts and crafts to do with the children to keep us all entertained for the next 3 weeks.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 09/03/2021 22:17

I wanted Judge Judy to do the interview - she'd have got to the bottom of it all Wink

I've not heard anything at all @Iblinkedandiamold - come on, spill!!

halfpasteleven · 09/03/2021 22:25

In keeping with the Irish and their love of the weather, it's not promised great for the rest of the week. Just a dry day would do, but I've already decided tomorrow will be a oj day!

Haven't heard any reason re Eoghan McDermott- just that his contract is up in May.

halfpasteleven · 09/03/2021 22:26

Pj not oj!
Although I will be having oj for breakfast

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2021 22:33

I'm thinking of starting a Go Fund Me to buy Harry a new suit.

What's the story about Eoghan?

Barmbraic · 09/03/2021 22:34

I saw something on rte yesterday about McDermott not coming back. Google is informative unpleasant

There’s a lot of posts on Twitter about him.

Making women the butt of the joke as usual.

I hesitate to believe internet rumours. But I'm never surprised anymore to learn that the most right-on have a misogynist streak, or worse.

Iblinkedandiamold · 10/03/2021 07:03

Hmm, he was accused of rape and sexual harassment. I dont know if it's true. That video doesn't show him in a great light. Although my friend squeezed Brain Adams' ass at a concert when he walked through the crowd randomly hugging people.
I never really liked him, I always found him a bit condescending to Doireann Garrihy on the radio. I wasn't sure if it was just their banter though.
