I just read that too - dreadful news. The poor man - there he's been all this time trying to keep us all safe and that's what's happening in his own family.

LadyEloise · 02/07/2020 21:16

My heart goes out to the Holohan family.
I really wasn't a fan of Tony's after the Cervical cancer scandal but he has done well in relation to Covid19. I know some might disagree because of the very sad deaths in care homes

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 02/07/2020 22:43

Oh my goodness I just read about his wife, that poor family.

I had huge admiration for him in any case, even more so now.

chartreuse · 02/07/2020 23:27

That is dreadful news, so upsetting. I found him to be a very calming influence during the worst of times when he must have been so worried for his own family.

Iblinkedandiamold · 03/07/2020 08:31

I cant believe he was going through all that and addressing the nation at the same time. It's so sad.

eggandonion · 03/07/2020 08:56

I think we all relied on his presence in our lives over these weeks.
I don't understand his policy on the cervical cancer scandal, even stranger now.

LadyEloise · 03/07/2020 09:22

I agree eggandonion.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 03/07/2020 12:31

How sad for the family, a terrible thing at anytime but so much harder with him having been needed elsewhere.

What does everyone think about the latest school guidelines to adhere to the 1 metre social distance for 3rd class up?

eggandonion · 03/07/2020 16:21

Very difficult! But I wish principals would say that they will try and plans to make school work for children, bearing in mind class sizes, mixed age classes etc. And more input on special schools, lca, ty etc.

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2020 16:56

I don't know how they'll manage 1m on a packed school bus!

eggandonion · 03/07/2020 18:11

That's true, and also if classes are in on different days it will be complicated with siblings, pick ups etc. Full time would be easier for parents, less easy for staff.

Inanutshelldaze · 03/07/2020 20:26

So at the moment it looks like Juniors to 2nd are going back full time 5 days a week as normal? No social distancing or split days/classes?

user1496146479 · 03/07/2020 23:40

@Inanutshelldaze yes I think that it it currently. For me that means potentially two kids in school full time & one part time. No idea regarding school buses though! It's stressful!

Inanutshelldaze · 03/07/2020 23:55

I can imagine especially with the buses.. For me it means two returning as normal🤞

eggandonion · 04/07/2020 09:07

My kids were born within five years, so I'd have had, for example, a junior infant finished at one, a second class finished at two thirty, and a fourth class on some other system. And I didn't have a bus to consider. I wasn't working then, so could have juggled it. But chuck in a job, it's very complicated.

Iblinkedandiamold · 04/07/2020 13:23

Oh my gosh the week flew in. I exhausted. Still nervous about things, one child forgot her snack, we had crackers and I had to call the parent to make sure it was okay to give her some. The parent was 15 mins away so would've been too long too waiting.
We've been lucky we are outside a lot. The kids and I have water proof clothing so easy to be outside.
Washing hands a lot and cleaning a lot. My hands are red raw. 😂😂
Love being back at work.

eggandonion · 04/07/2020 13:27

A few fine weeks would help, but rain at night to keep teenagers inside a bit.
I hope it goes well for you.
My dd2 is heading into town in a bus, how can something so normal make me nervous?

Iblinkedandiamold · 05/07/2020 11:27

Thank god for Twinkl.ie. it's making my summer camp planning so much easier. Although they have no idea what Aistear is for early years.

eggandonion · 05/07/2020 23:24

I keep seeing Twink.ie. I suspect Twink might be a good children's entertainer.

honeyrider · 06/07/2020 01:15

So much for social distancing after a flight

Iblinkedandiamold · 06/07/2020 08:05

His apology is like when your mum forces you to apologise for something you did but you dont think you did anything wrong. I'm sorry but....
@eggandonion I cant stand Twink she's now an attention seeking Kardashian wannabe. Grin

eggandonion · 06/07/2020 09:32

Michelle O'Neill is sorry that her attendance at a funeral might have upset people who were told they couldn't go to funerals of family. Mary Lou thinks nobody should be criticized for attending a funeral of someone they cared about.
Some people are above the law.

JaneJeffer · 06/07/2020 11:55

her attendance at a funeral might have upset people who were told they couldn't go to funerals of family
Nothing to do with the fact she attended an IRA funeral then Mary Lou? Hmm

eggandonion · 06/07/2020 13:02

Goodness me no! Not to mention the bizarre pre cremation part of the funeral, nor the fact that the person had died across the water. It obviously wasn't an ordinary funeral, it was special.
