I feel funny about the playdates interactions after school... Posted a seperate thread last month... On our road most kids out playing after school. Majority of kids are all in different schools.. I've stopped dc from going out since last weekend, we're trying to limit our contacts as much as possible... They're fine about staying in, they're so happy to be back in school, they have homework & are delighted the rte homeschool hub started again yesterday😁However the amount of kids calling for them to go out on the is working my last nerve😩

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/10/2020 22:37

My DD plays with a few children on the green after school. She isn't allowed into others' houses. I'm not delighted about it but I think it will probably come to an end after (non) Halloween as the winter sets in then.

321mamma · 14/10/2020 00:08

That's what I'm thinking too, once the clocks go back an hour😁

GallopingGreen · 14/10/2020 08:55

Hi cailíní! Another one who has been lurking for a while here. It's a tough one with the kids and play dates. I have let mine go to one or two houses (kids in the class) however DH is very cautious and doesn't feel comfortable having people come to us!
Numbers consistently high over the past week- do you think we will be at level 4 by the weekend?

321mamma · 14/10/2020 09:01

Possibly, I think they really need to do something fast... Hopefully the schools will remain open though, my dc have been so happy since they returned & are flying along with their school work..

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/10/2020 09:50

The north is going to level four now. Aren't we supposed to give it three weeks at level three, although that's not a hard and fast rule. Things can change fast.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/10/2020 10:00

Sorry, not level four, but into some form of lockdown. I heard on the news that only 38 per cent of tests are done correctly, so there are many false negatives. That's all we need to hear!

GallopingGreen · 14/10/2020 10:32

Yep agreed. It's such a hard balancing act. There is no easy answer. I hope at least the schools stay open.
Have you seen the images from the uk of people partying on the streets? That terrifies me! I wonder if the gov are concerned about putting restrictions in place and people not complying- that would be a dreadful situation.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/10/2020 11:33

We've decided to allow playdates with kids in our kids' classes. Even with their table "pods" they are in the same room for 5+ hours a day (primary) and climbing all over each other in the yard at break time anyway...

321mamma · 14/10/2020 12:06

I think that's different.. On our road kids are all in different schools, some attend after school & a few 5 year olds are all in montessori... They all congregate at around 4 & play for a couple of hours like they always had pre level 3... Sharing bikes, toys & treats! My dc used to play with the kids as well until we decided to stop it over rte weekend in a bid to limit their contacts to just their school pods...

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/10/2020 13:48

Yes, same as 321mamma, a mixture of kids, different schools, different ages outside here on the green. She learned to ride her bike during the summer so loves going out after school. I'd feel happier about it if they were her pals from school.

Yes, GallopingGreen, it's very worrying. It's civil disobedience when it gets to that level and there is a growing faction who engage in that type of behaviour here too.

LadyEloise · 14/10/2020 13:50

Did we ever imagine this time last year, how our lives would be so different this year because of a virus originating in China which has devastated people's health and livelihoods and has brought death and life changing illnesses to many and radically changed our social habits.

7Days · 14/10/2020 14:42

No we did not LadyElouise
Sometimes it hits.

eggandonion · 14/10/2020 16:22

I have set up number 4 but I don't know how to link to it!
I really hope that the new restriction regime will make a difference, north and south. It's about time the island was treated as a unit in this.

LadyEloise · 14/10/2020 17:17

Thank you @eggandonion
I can't do links either.
Perhaps @YougsterIwish will be back to do the needful.

Calls now for lockdown in some border counties.
