GroceryAid School Essentials Grant 2024

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone applied for the GroceryAid School Essentials Grant this year for £150 per school age child towards school uniform?

If so, have you heard back yet?

I've been awarded the last 3 years and hate to admit, I do rely on it to help with school uniform costs so I'm worried we won't be awarded this year as they have changed their application process! Xx

Yes I've had it last 2 years but just have to see. She did say when the applications go live they normally stop applications when the volume of applications reaches the maximum so whether that a good thing o no. We just have to wait and see. Have anyone had a email to say that they have actually received your application and documents. As this is something I had last year I had an email to say they received them.

I think that was how they operated in previous years.

This year they allowed as many people to apply as they could during a 48 hour window and the successful claims are being picked at random 🙁

I got an email this time to say my application had been received with a reference number but nothing since.

Starryleo89 · 24/07/2024 06:09

Nothing still. What a mess!

Ashadav · 24/07/2024 06:12

Yes I've looked I'm giving it rest of week. If I don't hear I'm just guessing I'm not getting it. X

HappyHippo01 · 24/07/2024 07:06

Still nothing here either

Shazzy4 · 24/07/2024 07:34

Nothing here either. I’ve seen people say both them and their friends have received it! Which is weird if it’s supposed to be randomly selected imo… And a few from the same work places have received it. Nobody from my workplace has heard yet. Some of us are in debt and literally need that money more than others. I think the whole way they are doing it is unfair, personally.

Strawbsss · 24/07/2024 07:55

Diddly squat here.

I agree. Doesn't seem 'random' if 3 people from one workplace are awarded on the same day.

Hahaha I did the same!

In a dream state I checked my bank at 3am and thought I'd been awarded 🤣

I think we have to just keep waiting don't forget it 2 weeks left yet .

I've been looking for info on this for a couple of weeks and found this thread last night. I only found out about groceryaid last year so I've had the payment once and then they changed the way it works. I'm the same as others only received an email after applying and not heard anything since. Trying to be positive as some people posting received payments yesterday but I'm not getting my hopes up. Fingers crossed for us all.

Welcome to the never ending, uncertain wait 😅

I'm just confused how they've organised it all this year.

They say it's random but people from the same workplaces are being awarded on the same day etc.

By the time we get our unsuccessful email on the 9th August, uniform will be sold out everywhere.

I think I'm the only person from my workplace that's applied as there's only 1 other person with a school age child and I don't think she did. I've got 2 in high school in September so I need to order before end of this month to guarantee delivery before school starts. What a nightmare. Also with this system as it's random it could mean that you don't get any help for years while others get it every year which also seems unfair.

Strawbsss · 24/07/2024 09:21

I really want to contact them to ask them to clarify how they are selecting applications but I'll likely just be given the same generic 'you'll hear by the 9th August' response.

I haven't heard anything I'm the only one from my work who's applied I'm west Yorkshire so I wonder if with the application saying addresses maybe there doing areas first would know if people say roughly were there from or what company as I'm with coop x

Would seem unfair that way wouldn't it?

I'm so fed up with it now 😢

I've still not heard anything I'm from Hampshire and work for the coop

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 24/07/2024 09:53

If people are hearing from the same workplace at the same time maybe it’s because they need to verify with your employer that you work where you say you do on the form?

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 24/07/2024 09:53

Hope you all hear soon.

But we have to provide payslips showing the place we work.. I also don't remember having to give consent for anyone to contact my employer.

I wouldn't really want them knowing I feel like I have to rely on a charity to pay for my children's uniforms 🙁

@Peachessmith my partner is also with coop as well and we haven’t heard anything either. He’s the only one who applied at his workplace as other staff members are either in college or much older with grandchildren. We’re in South Staffordshire

DuchessDuck · 24/07/2024 10:30

I’m also Coop, but not group. I’m one of the regional ones.

Ashadav · 24/07/2024 10:41

I'm Aldi
