What are you spending your cost of living payment on?

I'm £200 in debt to my gas and electricity supplier so I'll be paying that off to hopefully build up credit over the summer months ready for the winter. The other £101 I don't know yet.

What are you doing with yours?

I'll be spending mine on living. It means I can buy food this month and not have to rely on food banks.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 26/04/2023 08:01

Mines going into savings. And from there, on the next electricity bill.

TeamSpike · 26/04/2023 08:18

Rent arrears

SootspriteSearcher · 26/04/2023 16:10

Mine has gone into savings for now. But most likely will be spent on moving house once our landlord sells.

AutisticLegoLover · 26/04/2023 16:16

@Waitingforsummer75 I'm sorry you are in that situation Flowers

Mine will go straight on my gas and electric bills - I’m £600 in debt so it will help significantly with that.

CuriousOranges · 26/04/2023 16:35

Bills, clothes, school dinner money, a takeaway for the kids. Went in this morning and nearly gone now!

Felucia · 26/04/2023 16:37

Mending the toilet.

AthenaPopodopolous · 26/04/2023 16:46

Paying off my credit card most likely. Fed up with debt.

ScabbyHorse · 26/04/2023 16:47

On rent

Desperatelyseekingcommonsense · 26/04/2023 16:49

Trying to decide between fixing the downstairs loo (currently flushing by filling old milk cartons) and putting it towards s as replacement hot water tank so I can stop showering at the gym.

OnNaturesCourse · 26/04/2023 17:06

When is it due

Whiskyinajar · 26/04/2023 18:23

It's paying the council tax this month and the rest towards gas and electricity bill. ..which is currently £350 a month.
Hoping to discuss that with them though as we just cannot afford it.

Happygirl79 · 26/04/2023 18:25

I don't get a cost of living payment

AlwaysAlba · 26/04/2023 18:27

Food. We live very rurally and prices are astronomical. I come out of Tesco crying with worry every time I shop for us.

FuckNuggets · 26/04/2023 18:28

Paying this month's gas and electric bill, the rest of this month's council tax bill and hopefully have enough left to buy the rest of my dd's prom outfit.

I don't get a cost of living payment

Well then this thread isn't for you Confused

It's like going on a thread asking what your cat is called to tell people you don't have a cat.

My COL payment will go towards gas and electric as I'm on pre pay meters and want to get a head start for winter.

OldTinHat · 26/04/2023 18:35

I'm going to try and save mine for emergencies.

I have no savings, and if anything were to go wrong (washing machine, car, etc), then I'm stuffed.

MissGroves · 26/04/2023 18:35

Paying the arrears on my gas electric (250) and the rest on food.

MakesMeFeelSad · 26/04/2023 18:38

I was going to try to save it for emergencies now the weather's warming up but I've just paid more than it on a pair of glasses (bloody expensive lenses)

Hopefully I'll be able to see though and they will stop the permitted headaches I get working on a computer all day

LauderSyme · 26/04/2023 18:39

Household bills. I feel very fortunate to get it, there are plenty of working poor who aren't entitled.

Baneofmyexistence · 26/04/2023 18:39

Got ours this morning. My car needs 4 new tyres sadly so it is going towards that.

Hotvimto3 · 26/04/2023 18:41

Im not getting one this time but the last one went straight on gas

jmh740 · 26/04/2023 18:42

£900 in debt to gas and elec so it will go towards that

WreckTangled · 26/04/2023 18:48

I missed out on the COL payment by something like three days as we only recently started claiming UC, does anyone know if all three payments are based on the same assessment period?

I hope it brings a little relief to those who receive it 💐
