I'm £200 in debt to my gas and electricity supplier so I'll be paying that off to hopefully build up credit over the summer months ready for the winter. The other £101 I don't know yet.

What are you doing with yours?

A couple of days UK holiday in May half term. We get a tiny bit of tax credits due to having 3 family members on PIP / DLA and fortunately don't "need" the money for essentials. This will be our first break away since 2017.

Have you had a look if you are entitled to any benefits?

No. If you are not entitled to any benefits you won't qualify. Have you checked your entitlement?

I missed out on the COL payment by something like three days as we only recently started claiming UC, does anyone know if all three payments are based on the same assessment period?

I hope it brings a little relief to those who receive it 💐

No the other cost of living payment eligibility dates will have not been set yet.

I might treat us to doorframe repairs and new locks in the bedroom and bathroom doors. DD has broken all of them. Although £300 won't fully cover it but I'm sick of having to wedge my bedroom door shut.

Who gets the cost of living payment?

Looks like it's people on benefits (UC and tax credits etc).

Beepbeepenergy · 26/04/2023 22:38

Ceramic · 26/04/2023 22:40

ChaliceinWonderland · 26/04/2023 22:45

Good shop at Iceland!

Called the heating oil man as soon as it appeared this morning! Planning on building up the tank for next winter, have some in-law childcare help over the summer holidays to do extra shifts. It's a mini-project to avoid last winters shocking oil bills 🤣

Into savings to pay/go towards my MOT in a few months.

Don’t forget the goat!!

Nightlystroll · 27/04/2023 00:13

I'd not heard of this. How much is it and how do I get it? I'm going to put it away in savings like other people are. 🙂

UndercoverCop · 27/04/2023 00:17

@CuriousOranges a Goat?! What have I missed?

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/04/2023 00:18

Mine has just gone in. £200 went on clearing my overdraft, will put £70 on the gas metre tomorrow and use the other £30 to treat DD to a rare takeaway at the weekend - she’s chosen Chinese and she’s so excited about it!

ErikaReadsTheDailyMail · 27/04/2023 00:20

DS's school shoes fell apart last week so new shoes for him, some trousers for me (not bought any new clothes since 2021), filling the freezer a bit (local butcher does bulk buys we can't usually afford), put extra petrol in the car for once, signed DS up for a discounted cricket club he'd wanted to do for ages (£40 for 8 weeks), DH bought himself some hair powder stuff for £5 and has really boosted his confidence

all the little things that feel like absolute luxuries! We've been on cloud 9 today with it, £300 has made a massive difference- feeling very rich! We never have much spare so these things are real treats.

Does anyone know the criteria of the payment if someone is receipt of PIP (higher rate living, standard mobility), please?

You'll get £150 later in the summer if on pip but no means tested benefits

What are you doing with yours?

I think you may find you will need it for your higher council tax and water rates.

teaandtoastplease · 27/04/2023 00:45

I will use part of it to pay my council tax debt, and I'll top up my gas and electric meters, the rest will be used to fill my very empty freezer and restock my tins, jars, staples like pasta etc. I mostly cook meals from scratch but towards the end of the month I rely on frozen food and store cupboard things. My kids call it freezer roulette. I am desperate to get the payment but it hasn't gone in yet

Sn? None of my downstairs doors even have handles now after covid due to the slamming
