Let's just say I won't be returning
Unfortunately nothing had a price on and it was too late to back out once it was rung through

£9 sounds very reasonable

knittingaddict · 14/01/2023 20:03

£9? That's nothing for higher end food.

3 of us, one each. They're big and fat.

That’s no way to talk about your family.

PicturesOfLily · 14/01/2023 20:05

I have been quite surprised at the price of black pudding in our local farm shop. It’s £5-6 for a pack which would feed 2-3.

That could be what it was. It's a small horseshoe one. No more than you'd use in one family fry up but I bet it was more than I thought.
There was no price on anything so I'll avoid that kind of shop again!

That’s cheap!

PicturesOfLily · 14/01/2023 20:21

Yes it will be the black pudding. It’s the same price as a pack of 5-6 lovely sausages! I don’t think £9 for everything is cheap, but then I’m in the NW and also would never pay more than £2.50 for 6 eggs!

DottieUncBab · 14/01/2023 20:21

Oh £9 isn’t that bad at all, I was thinking c.£15

LordSugarTits · 14/01/2023 20:27

Just say "how much is the X" if there's no price on but it does sound fairly reasonable

GerronBuzanDoThaWomwok · 14/01/2023 20:29

£14.80😮

😂

seineingefrohrenerpimmel · 14/01/2023 20:32

What's with them having no prices on things?
That would have annoyed me enough in the first place to just leave the shop.

PlusLaMeme · 14/01/2023 20:33

£9 is cheap for a butcher's!!!!

ShaunaTheSheep · 14/01/2023 20:35

Wow. No idea on the black pudding but today I bought in our local lovely farm shop used by locals and tourists, 5 sausages £2.75 and 6 free range eggs £1.50.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 14/01/2023 20:38

I think it is cheap as well if locally bred and if eggs are free(ish) range.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/01/2023 22:21

£9 seems cheap to me

I was going to say £3 for eggs

1.50 each sausage so £4.50

Bp. £5

So £12.50

EcoCustard · 14/01/2023 22:31

I don’t get eggs from the butcher, but I purchase 24 chipolata’s or 18 sausages about £6-7 depending on weight and black pudding for Dh monthly costs about £3 on top of that. Eggs from top of the lane are £1 for 6.

Pootles34 · 14/01/2023 22:35

1 sausage each makes you unreasonable.

pocketvenuss · 14/01/2023 22:35

You thought 3 big fat butchers sausages would be £2? These are presumably not mass produced Richmond type sausages but large proper sausages and you thought 3 would be £2??? Not even £1 each? You are deluded. £9 for that lot sounds like a decent price.

😂 amazing

£9 is good value I'd say.

FusionChefGeoff · 14/01/2023 22:57

ONE sausage each?!!?!??!?

What kind of monster are you?!?!?!?

AlmostAJillSandwich · 16/01/2023 08:16

I'd have expected double that from a proper butchers tbh.

BarbaraofSeville · 16/01/2023 09:53

You got off lightly with £9 if there were no prices on anything - that's usually a red flag waving 'we saw you coming' but I'm surprised they can get away with that - aren't they supposed to show prices by law?

However, I've come to the conclusion that you have to be really careful with this type of business because there's a few places round here who seem to operate on the 'we're expensive so you'll assume that our products are really high quality' model, but when you think about it, there's one that makes no claims at all about the provanence of their meat and I've seen some of the packaging when they've been unloading a van that indicates that some (or all) of the meat is imported from Eastern Europe, so it's not even British, let alone local like might be assumed at a butchers.

lot of sausages and burgers are also quite low percentage meat if you can read the tiny writing on the package/signs in the shop.

TellMeWhere · 16/01/2023 09:58

I'm still stuck at one sausage each? Unless one sausage is the size of three normal sausages, then you are massively unreasonable! If their sausages are the size of three normal ones then you've nothing to complain about on the price. I guessed £15 for the lot.
