Anyone signed up for this? Payments for shifting your energy use away from peak times/within a given timeslot each day.

I did my first session on Monday (23rd) and my dashboard has just updated to show I earned 192 points or 24p.

I did last nights too.

The thing is, we are not big electricity users as have GCH. I run the washing machine and dishwasher about 3 times each per week, and apart from the boiling the kettle and short and occasional uses of microwave, the rest is low level lights, charging devices, fridge etc.

At that time of day, I could usually be cooking dinner but it’s all gas. Often involves boiling the kettle and possibly occasionally microwave, and I didn’t use those during the saver window. But apart from that, not much else to cut back.

I understand the thing about them looking at your use for about 5 hours prior to saving session. In that time, I’d usually be at work….so not running dishwasher or washing machine in weekdays.

Anyway, I did wonder if Id get nothing, and I know it’s not about a big money saving, but spreading use across the day to reduce peak usage of grid etc. I find it all quite interesting to see what happens and will habe other goes too, but think we will never save more than a few pennies.

WhatCanWeDoNext · 25/01/2023 18:22

We’ve got 4 entire pence for Monday. Now I just have to decide what to spend it on!

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 25/01/2023 20:29

Apparently, during our most heavy usage times both das we saved no electricity. Despite turning the fuse box off.

I stand by this being dodgy AF

NewBootsAndRanty · 25/01/2023 20:31

Zero for the 23rd here (my first one!)

I got about £3 for Monday (not quite sure of the exact £ total yes as it just shows Octopoints awarded and I haven't had the email telling me how much exactly that is) as my savings earned total has gone up by about £3 now they've included Monday.

Okay I apparently have a terrible memory. Found how to convert Octopoints to £ and I got £4.75 on Monday. Result!

MissAmyPond · 25/01/2023 23:50

We saved around £1 on Monday. Not big bucks but worth doing I suppose!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 26/01/2023 15:40

Weve earned £32.80 so far over all sessions apart from the 24th which isnt showing results yet

WombatChocolate · 29/01/2023 12:50

Has anyone had results from 24th yet? Thanks.

NewBootsAndRanty · 29/01/2023 13:15

Not got mine yet.

Session tomorrow 9-10am

WombatChocolate · 29/01/2023 18:03

Yes, just seen that and opted in.

I should think it’s hard for lots of households to save much then, if everyone goes out to work/school.

Homeworkers might be able to save by not having laptops plugged in and running off battery? Perhaps lots of people leave their dishwasher running then after breakfast or do laundry then?

tribpot · 29/01/2023 18:38

Yep, we'll all be here, DS in an online lesson so he could run the laptop in battery but not worth the risk. I'm in a meeting and will run mine on battery. DH will grumble about not having the telly on, despite the fact he can watch a streaming show on multiple other devices!

HundredMilesAnHour · 29/01/2023 19:57

I've opted in for tomorrow but I can't see me saving me than about 3p at best. I'll be working from home but have Teams calls so need to have wifi, laptop, conference pod etc running. That's pretty much the same as every Mon morning so the only difference to my consumption will be if I delay using my coffee machine until after 10am.

Me too! I'm not sure that no tea between 9 and 10 will make a massive difference! I've turned the roomba charging off too! I reckon I may make 2.6 p...

MissAmyPond · 30/01/2023 09:04

I'm in for today too but as I WFH there's not going to be a massive saving... laptop's off charge, heating's off and I've switched the fridge off for a bit, but other than that there's not a huge amount I can do!

gingercat02 · 30/01/2023 09:18

I've opted in for the loyalty points but CBA to do anything today. The fun factor is wearing thin now!

I agree. We have the oven on so clearly not going to save anything! But hey, I'll live without the extra 38p credit or whatever.

ChilliBandit · 30/01/2023 15:09

2,600 for 24th, very happy with that as I gave up about 15mins from the end and turned the oven on!

NewBootsAndRanty · 30/01/2023 15:14

I got 32 points (4p) for the 24th Grin

OP posts:
gingercat02 · 30/01/2023 15:31

208 points for 24th. We weren't even at home! We had a emergency trip to Scotland so stuff was on/on standby but no tv/P.S./oven etc

tribpot · 30/01/2023 15:36

6,136 points for us on the 24th. That's our best yet.

Hereforthedramaz · 30/01/2023 15:51

1656 for the 24th which is the best for me so far, but I think I'm a relatively low user generally

Today's won't have been good, I need certain things on for work

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 30/01/2023 16:22

Still not got my results for 24th.

WombatChocolate · 30/01/2023 18:04

Well, for the 24th I earned 12p. That’s 36p total for the 2 sessions last week.

We only sound just over £1 per day on electricity usually as we have gas central heating.

Am a bit more hopeful for this morning. I often run the washing machine then and didn’t today. Also turned off most things at socket.
