Hope everyone is better today! Cagletini was only sick the once and is right as rain today.

Slightly spendy yesterday as I went to the next town to find a venue for a work event. Then stayed and had lunch with a friend and browsed the shops. Books/charity shops. :o

Unescorted · 29/01/2022 11:44

Morning - another early upper here this morning. 5:15 for no sodding reason.

Alfie I did the same a couple of weeks back. It has not taken long for it to look like a swamp again.

Wolf do not call the plumber today unless it is an emergency / will get worse before Monday. I can lend you buckets.

Meal planning here too..... I need to get motivated. I am making Religieuse as an antidote to (or should that be for) the crap weather and need cream for that. So far it is burgers, roast beef and hunger

Got notified that someone in dds pod tested positive so on the antigen tests rollercoaster again, got them in post today so must do them. Hse send 5 so I'm going to do all three of us today as we have visitors later & then dd mon & wed with the remaining ones.

8stone13 · 29/01/2022 12:45

I'm away to Scotland to see friends, used £50 of the £220 of rail vouchers that I got as a refund for a disastrous journey last year so the ticket only cost me just over a tenner (the vouchers are issued with a value of £25 each & you don't get change if you use less than £25 so I didn't want to break into another & will use the rest on different journeys.)

Friends are feeding us so other than the train there will be no spending as long as I stay away from Zara 😆

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/01/2022 12:53

Life my friend just rang after 3 weeks of Covid lockdown with dc3, after two days at school dc2 has it, she's hoping dc1 will just get it and be done with it Shock

Taytocrisps · 29/01/2022 14:34

Hope everyone's keeping well.

I went to my first Meetups social event last night. We went for an Indian meal. It was an interesting experience. There were about eight of us. Unfortunately, I was the last person to arrive, so I ended up sitting at the end of the table. There was nobody sitting across from me, so I was restricted to talking to the lady beside me and the man sitting across from her. It was nice to get out and meet new people and I'll definitely go to future events. The food was excellent. It's good to step out of your comfort zone at times. I didn't drink because I was driving. There's a hike organized for today but Saturday is my day for shopping, laundry and housework so I didn't sign up for it. Plus the hike seems fairly strenuous and I'm not sure my dodgy knee would last the pace.

Work was just manic this week. It was exceptionally busy plus we've two new staff and I'm responsible for liaising with IT and getting them set up with e-mail and all the apps they need. Except IT were moving at the pace of a tortoise. Then I had their supervisors on my back wanting to know why it was all taking so long. Normally I love my job but this week was one of those weeks where you fantasize about winning the lottery and handing in a resignation letter.

Working from home next week which will be a welcome change of pace. There's been a lot of speculation about what will happen re: working from home long term, but we haven't heard anything official yet.

I was going to buy a calendar but did up my own calendar in Word instead. I've just done February and March so far. There are lots of birthdays and rugby matches.

Having a quiet day today. We're going to binge watch a few episodes of Greys Anatomy later. Today we're having roasties, fish and mushy peas for dinner. Tomorrow DD is making a chicken and broccoli pasta bake.

Have a good weekend everyone. I'll catch up on your news at some point.

Lovemaltesers · 29/01/2022 15:11

DD1 is still negative on lft. She’s done a pcr today as she had a high temperature, so we shall see.

I’ve got a much fainter line on my day 6 test. I’m struggling with wanting to test negative now, as then I have to get back driving the car, likely first thing Monday morning in rush hour 😩

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/01/2022 17:08

Wahoo mot
That sucks happier, poor friend
£10.50 Chinese. I really want but, diet
Oh no love

Unescorted · 29/01/2022 19:50

Don't get blown away 8

Love can you take it for a drive tomorrow ...don't come into contact with people, just drive it for a bit.

happier make sure you have plenty of wine, snack food and Netflix lined up just in case.

I hate MOTs - it is the uncertainty of the cost is so stressful.

I am sooooooo full of cake - I am practicing for Junior Bake Off and made religieuse today. They are quite scrumptious .... and the left over egg whites are now refashioned into meringue nests.

Tayto it is so frustrating when things don't get done when they are needed.

We don’t have MOT’S here.

ememem84 · 29/01/2022 20:28

I am in bed. On the air bed in the lounge. DH slept all day pretty much. He said he felt rough as. Headache was bad apparently. Wondered if a migraine. But he feels ok. Ish. Now. But I’m not risking another disturbed nights sleep. Got my catface with me for company. She’s the bestest.

HumbugWhale · 30/01/2022 07:16

Dd seems to be in another phase of wetting the bed, 3 times this week. I wish for her sake she could crack it. It's also a lot of washing!

Low spend this weekend. Spent 20 quid yesterday on a birthday gift for one of the DC's friends, milk, toilet cleaner and chocolate. Today should be nsd.

Have meal planned for next week and done online order for about £5 less than last week although dh needs to go to the butcher which will probably cost about a other tenner. We have a spendy month coming up with half term plus my MOT is due in Feb. I hope the car doesn't need any work!

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/01/2022 08:03

Tbh love I agree. Just go out today for a
Drive. No need to leave the car at alll
Oh no bed wetting is so frustrating bless dc and you

ememem84 · 30/01/2022 08:42

Slept. 830 ish till 8. Win.

Wolfcub · 30/01/2022 09:06

Plumber plus replacement tap £120. Bloody unplanned expenditures kill you every time. I lithe January.

Em glad you slept

Love agree with the others. Go for a drive. Don't get out of the car but practice abs build your confidence

Dpup has crashed into both my good knee and my bad hip this morning. I am very ouchy now.

Bedding in the wash. Going to finish my tea, remake the bed and take thug dog for a long walk

Lovemaltesers · 30/01/2022 09:28

That was a good sleep em, I hope you feel better for it.

Urgh to plumber bill and ouchy knee and hip.

DD1s PCR came back negative 👍 I may have driven her pcr test to the post box yesterday just around the block as it is within walking distance

I got my first negative today, so tomorrow should be release day. Not feeling great today though, very tired and headachy, trying to stay out of bed for a bit but feeling rubbish.

Alfiemoon1 · 30/01/2022 09:56

Aw sorry you are feeling rubbish love
Great sleep em you must of needed it
Dcat let me lie in until 8.30 today yay I am the only one up dh and ds are still in bed so enjoying a coffee in peace need to wake ds up soon though as he has work at 12

Nothing much else planned for today except dog walk and some housework.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/01/2022 10:49

Ouchy wolf
£30 sainsburys and they were ooo of mil shopping fml
Ah sorry feeling crappy love

Dog walk later here too now the wind has dropped

ememem84 · 30/01/2022 11:45

Everyone is up showered (me and DH) and dressed. Have cleaned the carpet in dds room (again) and have stripped all beds and thrown all bedding in washing machine.

Thoroughly cleaned bathroom changed towels for everyone and bath mat.

Have thrown all windows wide open. Bad vibes out. Fresh air and good vibes in.

Unescorted · 30/01/2022 11:48

Love I felt blerggghhh after both my negatives. My taste and smell have cone back today - I am thankful for but could have done without waking up to the smell of last nights unwashed burger pan.....

Wolf Ouch Sad and ouch Angry. Our boiler sprung a leak yesterday. Less than a week after we cancelled the service plan - it is the pipe coming out to the central heating so DS & DH are now at Wikes. By the looks of it it has been there a while & would explain the issues we have had for a couple of years. So I am not sure the service plan was any use at all....

Em I am glad you had a good sleep.

Life hopefully the iron keeps working.

Humbug It comes. But super frustrating when it is some nights and not others.

I have spent the morning at the foodbank - making up for all the time I have been unable to go b/c of COVID, dad and work. It was a tip, but there is something oddly soothing about creating order from mess knowing that it should stay like that mostly.
