Em Covid sucks. Hope you feel better soon.

Martha the look of wonderment when they come home to full cupboards is so touching. I feel almost wanted when she comes home.

I have had a baking day - it is DS's Birthday & he wanted a baklava. How do people do everything if they aren't wfh.....

Frugal win of the week - yesterday the car started making a really weird sound. I pulled up at the local tyre centre to take a look (by chance... I am not that calculating). The sight of a middle aged woman groveling about on the floor trying to work out what was wrong brought them all out to help diagnose..... had it up on the ramps, too the wheel off realised it was the dust cover for the brake disk - removed offending item, put wheel back on and refused to take any money. I have to get another one but not something they do.....

Negative test. Which came back very quickly. Less than 6 hours.

But negative test. Woo.

Alfiemoon1 · 26/01/2022 20:28

Wow that was quick em when ds got sent home from college for 1 cough we waited 2 days for his results

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2022 20:46

I’ll get the big suitcase adora
Phew for -ve em.
Happy birthday ds.
Nsd today

HumbugWhale · 26/01/2022 22:15

Nsd here too and only one more day until pay day!

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 01:07

Dd has woken up and has been sick 3 times. I’m superbly anxious. DH has helped me every time and I’m now trying to nap on the couch. I feel like I have to run away to calm down and this was the best I could manage. Downstairs. I also feel like I should be with her. But. If it’s a bug there’s not much I can do other than make sure she’s comfortable really. She needs sleep. So every time we’ve tried to get her back to sleep.

SingToTheSky · 27/01/2022 06:44

Aaargh em I’d be anxious too. It’s really ok not to be with her - DH is her parent too! She’s safe and comfortable with a parent. You need the sleep. Hope she’s better soon 💐

Startagaintoday · 27/01/2022 07:13

@ememem84 hope you both feel better after some sleep. Tesco yesterday £93 and not sure what on. Hairdresser today. Thank God nearly end January

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/01/2022 07:13

Agree with sing. You both need sleep dh is there

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 07:57

She wasn’t sick again! Yay. And is happily munching on toast. DH came down before and told me how good I’d been. I didn’t freak out I front of her. Just dealt with it. Comforted her then ran away! So I’m feeling proud of myself as well as anxious still!

She’s staying home with me today. So work will be a bit sketchy.

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 08:42

i am so pleased i have a good washing machine and tumble drier. three loads of dds bedding were washed last night and they are all now dry. just washing her duvet and pillow now to freshen it up.

dry day today so will get it out on the line if i can to freshen.

SingToTheSky · 27/01/2022 09:45

Glad she’s ok em and well done for coping with it.

Oddly enough Cagletini has just puked too. While I was in a meeting. DH cleaned up. I think it’s just a one off as she has been under the weather this week - she always seems to throw up once or twice whatever the bug is so I’m not too worried about it being a D&V bug

I may have spent on the Hotel Chocolat sale this morning - a few bits for me :o but also a couple of boozy truffle selectors sent to my parents

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 10:30

She's currently sat reading to cat face. there was a discussion earlier about which colouring book she needed. she's nicked my pen and has scribbled all over my work notebook.

cbeebies is on. thank god for CBeebies

and grandma and grandad just called me. they're popping up in a bit after they've been to town with lunch. absolute legend my mother is. as crazy as her views on certain things (me working and having two small kids) are, she is a legend. and i dont know how i'd cope without her. during the first lockdown it was horrible, knowing they were just down the road but we couldn't see them. i realised how bloody lucky i am having them here as support. n o idea how people without the family support nearby cope and i salute you.

AdoraBell · 27/01/2022 11:48

Glad your pcr is negative em 👍 sorry DD is under the weather, hope she recovers quickly.

🤣 unescorted 👍

NSD here.

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 14:52

parents came and dm and df entertained dd so i could get some work done. dm made lunch (and it was at this point i realised i hadn't eaten yet). dm has also cleaned the kitchen, and put away (folded and everything) all the laundry which had piled up in the baskets. and has sorted the next few loads for me. that woman is a legend. she also persuaded dd to have a nap. she went down at 130. and is still asleep now. so i'm just going to let her carry on. she is exhausted poor little babooo.

Lovemaltesers · 27/01/2022 17:01

Are you feeling better em? I know your pcr was negative, but you still weren’t well. Hope DD perks up after her nap. Little children always look so unwell, but then fortunately bounce back so quickly. Your Dmum deserves a Star

Poor Cagletini too!

DD1 is complaining of a sore throat. Lft is still negative, we’ll test again tomorrow…

Managed a bit of work today, followed by a nap. Got a sore chest and annoying cough. Day 5 tomorrow!

Car repair was due to complete today, not heard anything yet. Not like I can go and collect if it is ready though 🤣

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 17:34

I’m ok. Haven’t had a minute to think about feeling poorly if I’m honest as dds been here.

HumbugWhale · 27/01/2022 19:48

Sorry to hear about sicky dcs. Hope they get well soon.

Em I thought about your dh today as I mixed up 3 different sorts of pasta for tea, I think I remember you saying he can't stand it being mixed! Our dcs on the other hand we very excited to have butterflies and tubes and twizzels!

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2022 20:09

Dd reported feeling unwell this morning at 6:45am and this busy single working mother said you'll be grand & sent her to school at 11:20 I got the call to collect her, 4 in her class went home within the hour. She's been emotional/hormonal all week so I'm feeling a bit guilty and sending her to childminder instead of school tomo, they've only 3 hours tomo anyhow.

Not posted here for ages
This week €950 deposit for aforementioned dd's braces, probably need to get solicitors help to get ex h's portion of it. Total cost €3950 Shock

Today €10 nail paint instead of usual shellac, stress of smudging it isn't worth it, shellac anymore Grin
€13.25 on 2 packs of tucs & after school treats

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2022 20:11

Very jealous of that help you have from dparents em mine lives 100+ miles away & occasionally does childcare but doesn't cook clean or do laundry while she's here so saves me money on childcare but creates work in other areas GrinHmm

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2022 20:12

Anyone who likes takeaway Iceland's salt & pepper chicken with half pack of microwave rice ticks all the boxes Wink

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/01/2022 20:30

My dm does not help either happier.
Shock on braces prices
This working mother would also have sent the child to school. Don’t be guilty

Gensola · 27/01/2022 20:52

Fell off the thread again! Have been very unfrugal with a trip to Sweden that cost a bomb but it’s payday tomorrow and I’ve done a budget and it will all be fine eventually 😁
£30 on new pants as all mine decided to fall apart at once.
happier I’ve given up shellac for a bit reluctantly, I adore it but it’s so expensive and it’s ruined my nails.

ememem84 · 27/01/2022 21:43

Oh this would give him anxiety for days.

Sometimes. If I’m feeling in the mood I put a spiral in with the penne. Just one. 🤣

Mrsmadevans · 27/01/2022 21:53

Been busy past 2 days , Bobbo to the solicitor, Mum to Gp , sorted BT phone line, Broadband , BT sports , Now TV , Netflix and Britbox , all for the next 24 for 67.98 a month instead of individual 102 a month.
