Great news em hope you are feeling better soon

ememem84 · 25/01/2022 10:06

he is excited - although i dont think he really understands what school entails. :)

to be fair, no school here is far.the one we wanted is a ten minute walk (if that). and its nice. and from all accounts (dsis is a primary teacher) a very good school.

if he hadn't got in there then we'd have gone to the next closest one on the drive to work - dh disagreed with this because there is one slightly closer but its the there way - away from work.... had to think logistics.

hopefully this will mean though that as he's in, we can get dd into the pre school there, so will only have to do one drop off. :) :)

ememem84 · 25/01/2022 11:31

shandy day. Just paid £900 as a deposit for our winter let while our building work takes place. total cost £4225. eek.

thank god for credit cards. have also just paid it off my card.

we could have stayed with parents, rent free. but we need our own space. new weighed it up. pros were rent free, possible help with kids, cat face stays with me. cons - dad is spiralling into a depression and very stressed, mum and dad have their own routine and we have ours which clashes somewhat, no separate space, no space to park our car at their place and only one bathroom. ddad also gets up about a million times a night.

so us having our own space for 6 weeks will make a huge difference. and a dent in the finances. but we have funds from the sale of our flat when we bought this place saved up for just this reason and i'm counting it as part of the total cost of the refurb.

so we'll get a three bed apartment (as that's all they had left) ground floor hopefully. with kitchen, washer dryer, bunk beds in one room (ds excited about this), access to gym pool golf course ad discounted entry to the adventure park they have there. cat face will move in with parents. as although the resort says its "pet friendly" they mean dogs only.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2022 12:49

Tbh sounds like a great use of funds

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/01/2022 18:36

Cancel hello fresh as another bad delivery. Have £21 credit to use so will get a box as near that as possible in a week or so

HumbugWhale · 25/01/2022 19:51

Nsd and am finishing the month slightly better off than I expected. Not sure how!

AdoraBell · 25/01/2022 20:25

£63 on grocery delivery. £2 yesterday on a card for DH. It’s his birthday later this week.

Unescorted · 25/01/2022 20:36

life how exciting about Rome, that sounds great!
em fab news about school. It’s a big step. Also sounds very sensible about having your own space during refurb.
-wolf the new job didn’t deserve you, hopefully something better will come along
north sounds like good sorting
-unescorted hope you didn’t get too carried away in supermarket
love hope you’re not feeling too bad
mrs good for you with the NSD
humbug well done, sounds like you’re being very frugal
Sticking to my good intentions about food shop. The new account is definitely helping as there is no overdraft and I’d have to transfer extra money in if I’ve overspent. But the new regime is not very exciting…DS1 is in the kitchen now moaning that there is ‘no food in the house’ 😊

marthasmum · 25/01/2022 22:08

He’s just consented to have some ready brek that I found at the back of the cupboard (he’s 15 😂). I’m glad you’re not his teacher humbug as he’s done zero work for his GCSE mocks next week. They are unimportant apparently.

Lovemaltesers · 26/01/2022 07:00

Yay, to the great escape unescorted, DD2 went back to school yesterday. She asked to go to bed early last night.

Feeling chesty now and not great. About to get up and see how getting the DC ready goes, as will then probably go back to bed.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2022 07:12
Grin
lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2022 07:13

The grin was to unescorted but the reply didn’t work

ememem84 · 26/01/2022 07:16

I’ve done something I rarely do. I’ve called into work sick. I feel crappy still.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/01/2022 07:25

I think it’s for the best em. Get ye back to bed. You clearly need rest and work know you aren’t a piss taker

ememem84 · 26/01/2022 09:58

DH has made me an apt with the dr. So I can get signed off. So I’m here now. Have been quarantined in a room by myself. 🙁

But blessings for paying for healthcare. He called up at 830. Appointment at 10. It’ll cost £45. But

Alfiemoon1 · 26/01/2022 11:20

Hope you get on ok at the drs em

AdoraBell · 26/01/2022 12:07

Speaking as someone who lived with ILs for 3 months, pre children and no pets, you have definitely made the right decision em.Hope that you feel better quickly.

Humbug well done on the frugal food triumph 🤣 one of mine, DD1 comes home from Uni, opens a cupboard and stares at the wonders contained there🤣🤣. She is really feeling the pinch, but she’s coping.

Can’t see who now but someone is going to Rome? Hope you have a fab time

marthasmum · 26/01/2022 12:36

Ha ha adora maybe mine will appreciate my cupboards more when they’re paying for their own.
Have just arranged building and contents insurance, £469 with all bells and whistles. I usually go with a local broker but it was a difference I couldn’t justify, £661. I’ve realised how much of an anxiety trigger insurance is for me. I was nearly happy to hand over the extra £200 just because it meant the broker taking responsibility for me. Part of that because we live in a flood area so I’m cautious even though we haven’t been flooded. But I’ve put my big girl pants on to save the money!
Hope you are feeling better soon em
I need to crack on with some work Hmm

ememem84 · 26/01/2022 16:04

Dr told me I have classic covid symptoms and that I had to go for a pcr test. I’ve had test and now we wait. I’m in isolation now. Until such time as my test comes back negative. Fun.

Lovemaltesers · 26/01/2022 16:30

Oh no em. Have you done any lateral flow tests? The first time I had covid I never got any positive lateral flow tests.

ememem84 · 26/01/2022 16:58

That’s why dr said to get pcr. I’ve done lft every day for 4 days and negatives. But I have all the symptoms. So. Isolation it is for me until negative result. Sigh.
