Wolf I did at least half of the clearing up and then sat at my computer and started typing in between filing my nails. He has done the rest. I couldn’t leave it to make a point because the Cleaner comes on Mondays and I need the place cleared up and tidied so she can clean. We’d normally share the job, it’s just that I have so much else to do!

Making good progress and sticking Nail Envy on my nails in between typing. I’m trying to stop them sloittubgcso I’ve galfva chsncd of having nice nails for the India trip. No hope for the wedding in 2 weeks time! I’ve never had false nails, not sure it’s ‘me’ and I think it might mskevthe condition of the underlying nail worse - is that so? I normally just paint my own but they are in a dreadful state Atm.

£24.99 for a new sister, and a trip to the tip for DH with the old one.

I’m massively allergic to cats so no cat chat here I’m afraid! I grew up with dogs but not enough time now and no chance with DS around either.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/01/2019 22:29

I’ve never heard of Life in Pieces, will take a look.

northender · 13/01/2019 22:34

70p on a diet coke was my only spending today.
I have HFW's Everyday book & the Veg everyday book. Both good.
Going to visit friend tomorrow who has had chemo for breast cancer and then mastectomy a couple of weeks ago. Have made lasagne to take & will bake cake in the morning.
Tomorrow will be another low spend day, just the cost of diesel as it's quite a drive.

Bornlazy · 13/01/2019 23:04

Sea I have only ever had false nails twice in my whole life and I hated them. I felt like I couldn’t do anything with them on and picking things like coins up was almost impossible. When they came off my nails were terrible, really soft and I couldn’t even peel sellotape without them bending back and braking. However, I know people that wear them all the time and don’t have those problems so I suppose you must get used to them.

Bornlazy · 13/01/2019 23:11

North I hope your friend is ok now and I’m sure she will appreciate the cooking and baking. I have heard of so many people recently with breast cancer it’s frightening. I’m a bit paranoid as my Aunt and Gran both had it, although I don’t think that makes me high risk.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/01/2019 23:42

What were those typos! Should have said:

I’m trying to stop them splitting so I’ve half a chance of having nice nails for the India trip.

Anyway, thanks for commenting Born, I imagine falsies might be fine on decent nails but will do my shite nails no good at all. Short nails with clear varnish /Nail Envy is the best option for now I think, and hope they recover! I must start taking my multivitamins.

Will be working for the next couple of hours and I’m already freezing! Huge cardi and cashmere shawl on, Turtle Doves and a hot water bottle on my lap. And a hot decaf tea. No central heating for me! Is that enough frugality to bring @FluffyCloudland back? We’re all really trying, Fluffy! Grin

Ggreengrass1 · 14/01/2019 06:02

Morning all, have a good frugal day.
your meatball sound good sneakySmile, will your support worker stay and eat them? Have a good time with your friend north
Hopefully nsd today, oh no got to pay for dd dancing exams arrrrrghhh!

Wolfcub · 14/01/2019 06:42

Morning all. I do not want to get up (it’s cold and I’ve been forewarned that this week will not be a good work week) but I need to start work by half past so I have to. Sea that’s pretty much how I wrap myself up during the day when I’m working brrrrr
Should be a nsd I hope

Happy frugal Monday everyone. Lonely, Quite, Fluff if you are lurking jump right on back in ladies

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/01/2019 06:56

Morning. Did not want to get up. DS is complaining of a tummy ache.
Getting my kitchen floor ripped up today

WreckTangled · 14/01/2019 07:32

Morning.

Hope the cooking goes well sneaky

I've got a fairly long drive this morning to where I'm going. Need to get fuel £30 should do. Hopefully as cheap as I'm hoping!

ememem84 · 14/01/2019 08:33

Moisturise the nails sea file them right down and moisturise them like you’ve never moisturised before. Don’t put any polish on them for a bit.

I’m still in bed. Not going in today. Unbelievably bad sleep. Ds was coughing a lot last night he woke up 3 times (dh got up once me the other two times) and I never managed to get properly back to sleep.

Sigh. Feel awful doing this to work on a Monday but so tired.

Nsd planned here today. Dparents came and took ds as per. So it’s just me and catface here today.

Wolfcub · 14/01/2019 08:52

I second what Em says re nails. Mine are shite due to eczema but I have mine gelled. I couldn’t be doing with false nails at all they would get in the way but gel means they look nice and are robust. I do at some point need to give them a break from gel but i think it’s well worth doing especially for a wedding abroad where you want them to last

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/01/2019 08:56

Morning, not had chance to read back so hope you're all o.kay.

Glad to finally have a day off work, have managed to spend £75 from the comfort of my sofa in my pjs, £65 on Amazon on birthday presents for dd and £10 on the school dinner account.

I am meeting my friends later this morning and going off to enjoy our spa break, I really can't afford it but its much needed so for the two days, overnight accommodation and dinner included its £89. I have got some vouchers so treatments will be free and i'm going to stop at Tescos en route and pick up snacks/lunch so don't buy their over priced stuff Wink

The amount of organisation its taken to go away for one night is astounding tbh, just goes to show how much i have to remember on a day to day basis!!

Happierwithouthim · 14/01/2019 09:18

This is the effect of false nails on relatively healthy nails sea wore them for 2.5 days two weeks ago and have started the journey on repairing them now.
Nailtiques is fantastic for building them back up, you need the #2, I buy from beautybay.com and use lots of handcream.

Happierwithouthim · 14/01/2019 09:26

Just looked up what Nail Envy is, if it's great stick with it, if not Nailtiques is a much cheaper solution Grin

girlie enjoy your time away, definitely deserved.

Happierwithouthim · 14/01/2019 09:27

If you do decide to use false nails I find the short square ones much easier to manage and take them off the following day and you might save your nails that way

ememem84 · 14/01/2019 10:08

Get gels girlie. Less upkeep.

Then get them soaked off properly. And you’ll be fine. Don’t do what I did and pick them off....

Although today is a sick day I’m going to be using it wisely.

I’m resting at present. But will be doing some eBay sorting later in an attempt to get a bit more cash for when I’m on mat leave later this year. And will also maybe vacuum the upstairs and will do some laundry.

Dh is away tomorrow. His flights at 7am and will get back at 530. So need to get ds’ things all organised for nursery today as it’ll just be the two of us.

The aim is to save £10k this year.

Have looked at my tax form and think I’ll be on a stupid low rate (around 10% maybe) once I fill it in. Must get on that ASAP. This will be because of my only working 8 months of last year, ds’ nursery fees, my pension payment and the mortgage interest relief we get. So will aim to save the difference in tax (currently 19%).

Listed a pair of shoes on eBay yesterday. So fingers crossed they sell.

Happierwithouthim · 14/01/2019 10:33

£24.99 for a new sister, and a trip to the tip for DH with the old one.
Seacow which of your sisters are you getting rid of? Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 14/01/2019 10:41

Eh? Oh blimey, new AIRER! And the trip to the tip is still pending so I’d best make sure he doesn’t take a sister by mistake 😂

I definitely don’t want a new sister, mine are ace and do a lot for us (though it works both ways, we are all quite good to each other). Though I’d never be that nice about them to their faces Grin

MissingMo · 14/01/2019 11:29

Have fun at the spa @Girlie
Rest up @em, sounds like you need it.

Up early today and trying to get all the jobs done. Had washing set to wash overnight and am on my third load today. I try to get it all done on one day as the tumble dryer is so loud it annoys me.
Been to the park with DD and to the co op. Managed to get the easy keepers I needed reduced. Also got some sliced chicken reduced and a beef brisket joint reduced by half so that will do a couple of dinners next week. Oh almost forgot they had wrapping paper down to 20p so got a couple of rolls for next year. We are reducing the amount we but this year so I reckon that will cover what we need.
Hope you are all having good days so far.

Bornlazy · 14/01/2019 12:19

Order placed for Tesco delivery tomorrow £52.83. Will need to top up again on Friday maybe another £20 or so as working the weekend. I am actually thinking of cancelling my Tesco delivery plan as I have found the availability of slots is rubbish compared to what it used to be and I do a lot of my shopping in Aldi/Lidl. Will need to have a think 🤔

Lovemaltesers · 14/01/2019 12:41

Monday is being tedious. Think I may have to crack open the biscuits to get through the afternoon

NSD so far.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/01/2019 13:25

I am stuck at a computer and have the proper munchies too Love. Resisting though, for diet and £ reasons (am hiding from the cleaner in Costa. Nothing cheap or diet here).

You’ve made me want Maltesers now though. They are the mutt’s nuts.

ChristmasSeacow · 14/01/2019 13:55

Ooh, and thanks for the nail advice. The gels look really good Em but I’ll need mine to improve to even do that! Yours don’t look so bad Happier but then nor do mine to the naked eye. I just know they have flaked down below the level of the nail and keep on flaking Hmm. Rubbish.

I am not using polish exactly but Nail Envy. Anyone tried it? It’s meant to strengthen them. Maybe I’ll give it a good go and moisturise my hands /cuticles a lot more. Should probably wear rubber gloves more too. Or leave more washing up for DH.

I’ve been in Costa for so long that I don’t think it’s worth going home before collecting DS from school. That’ll be 5 hrs + in Costa altogether. On 2 drinks. I’m pretty peckish now though.
