Sea I’d be tempted just to leave the clearing up. Let him see the problem

I have a horrendous headache coming on. I seem to be getting them more frequently over the last few weeks. at the moment the entire side of my face hurts

Have booked apartment for 40th birthday night out. Managed to use discount to get £19 off so that’s roughly £5 each. So far my blue light card has paid for itself about 15 times over and I’ve not had it long

My bacon sandwich bacon was not frozen and my freezer has not leaked so far today. Fingers crossed chiselling ice out of it yesterday has helped. I still plan to empty it and fully defrost and will keep an eye on it

I miss the chicken talk

My frugal thong: I made dh send back the alarm clock he bought me for my birthday. On second looks it’s not a Philips day light one. It looks different to the pic on the box but I assumed just an older model. Closer inspection suggests not Philips at all. He was reluctant. Until I said I’d just chuck it (as it doesn’t do what I want) and he’s contacted amazon who are refunding and sending a replacement. @Fluffycloudland77 would be proud.

Also scored some free butter from Dm. And some apple crumble. Yippee.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2019 20:50

Grin good typo Em

SnugglySnerd · 13/01/2019 20:52

Certainly Unescorted so long as you keep them all week so we can have a lie-in Grin
What is mulching and how do I do it? Am a total gardening novice apart from a few herbs and geraniums but this is the year we're going to get it sorted out and looking lovely...

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 20:52

Dh wanted to have a chat earlier. A money chat. He said “weve” been spending too much on his credit card (his new amex). I asked how so. He said lots of things he doesn’t recognise. I’ve asked him to show me. Majority of this is either Christmas gifts for family. Or amazon spends which are “family spends” and previously came from my account. Toilet paper, cat food, wet wipes etc (but I used to “reclaim” from the joint account). I’ve said I have only used it as agreed for joint spends (ie house) or for things for ds. And have handed the card back.

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 20:53

Bahahaha! Frugal thing. Hahahaha

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 21:01

Morbid conversation this afternoon with dsis. She asked what would I do with catface when she is “no longer with us” 😪😭 (which won’t be for ages as she’s only 3 and I’ve told her to be super duper careful when she ventures outside. No roads).

I said to dsis I had thought about it. And I’m going to have her ashes turned into a diamond. And then will wear her in a necklace. (Or have them tattooed in my skin like a paw print shape...but the first Is probably less wierd). Dsis thinks I’m nuts.

SneakyGremlins · 13/01/2019 21:07

I've got similar plans for my cat and he's only two and a half.

Em have you seen the Life in Pieces episode where they make granny into a diamond

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 21:15

Phew. Not just me then whose clearly a crazy cat lover.

She’s my girl. We haven’t yet worked out which one of us need the other the most. But she came along probably right when I needed her the most. sept 2016 - I’d come off the pill in January 2015 so we could ttc and nothing was happening. We said we’d give it 2 years and then take things further. Around that time friends were announcing pregnancies etc all over the place. So I was sad. And needy.
Catface had bees at the shelter place for 3 months. In June 2015 they’d finally trapped her in the park. She was a house cat. But was dumped with her brothers in local park. They’d found her with kittens. None made it.

We brought her home and the first few nights she roamed around the apartment and cried. So many long loud meows. I used to get up and sit in the room with her (when she was hidden behind her chair).

We are now best friends. She’s like my shadow and supervisor. Currently curled up on bed with me.

Love that girl.

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 21:16

wolf no?! To be fair I haven’t seen life in pieces. What channels that on?

Frazzled74 · 13/01/2019 21:19

Thank you, I’m going to order theHFW veg book now! I think that eating more veg and less meat will be good both health wise and for the budget. I’ve just made the jack Munro spicy bean burgers for tomorrow’s dinner.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2019 21:22

Aw Em that’s lovely that you could help each other like that 🐱. Dparents dog is always there to offer comfort when I feel sad or tired. He is my dog-brother

Life in pieces is on prime. I’m assuming it’s somewhere else as well. I started watching it yesterday as ds was out all day and I was a bit lonely and I laughed out loud a lot. I don’t often watch something that makes me laugh like that

Unescorted · 13/01/2019 21:25

em top typo!.

Snuggly adding organic matter to the soil. It improves structure and water retention. Some people dig it in, I just put it on in a thick layer and let the worms and bugs do the hard work. Use compost this year, but collect up leaves in the autumn and put them in bin bags. Make sure they are wet and seal the bags. 12 months later you should have beautiful leaf mould. Also start compost bins....you tube has loads of different designs that you can look at to suit your garden. Improving the soil is my favourite part of gardening. It is so satisfying to turn a poor soil around..... I should be a social worker for dirt.

SneakyGremlins · 13/01/2019 21:32

I have a support worker coming at 1PM tomorrow so my plan is to start cooking at 12:55PM so I look organized Grin

Well thongs should be frugal as there’s really not much material 🤔😂

Spendy as fuck on Amazon, various house/baby essentials, some birthday presents for DH and I have also preordered a book. I really barely ever do this with books, as I’m happy to wait for the price to drop, but with not knowing when periods are imminent I’d rather not wait.

Autism friendly book about periods in case that’s useful for any other parents here

Bornlazy · 13/01/2019 21:36

I love Life in Pieces. It is one of the funniest things I’ve ever watched. I laughed out loud a lot when watching it.

I have four cats (one doesn’t go out as he’s too old) and I have to admit I worry that they will get run over when they’re out, but they love the freedom so I let them. But not overnight. They are two and a half and twenty one.

Unescorted · 13/01/2019 21:38

What are you planning on cooking?

I like the idea of a pet but I can barely look after us as it is. Em is it really that long since you got Catface? It feels like no time at all.

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 21:38

Twenty one? Wow. Such an old cat!! DMs oldest old cat was 22 when she was pts. We’d had her since I was 14. She was 2 when we got her. It was heartbreaking.

ememem84 · 13/01/2019 21:40

Yep. Sept 2016 is when she joined us. She was here for 3 months then I found out about ds. She turned a corner then. Started sitting on my lap and snuggling me. She knew. I know she did.

Unescorted · 13/01/2019 21:43

She is a lovely cat.

Cag you would think so. I have never understood why they are so expensive. Especially as the are as comfortable as a cheese slicer.

Ggreengrass1 · 13/01/2019 21:45

Thanks jam lovely date with dh, my frugal thing for fluffy, found cards with 17 water stones stamps in purse, cashier has put them on new card thing so £10 off next time. Today I got new Salley Vickers bk & the language of kindness. ( b1g11/2 price!)

Bornlazy · 13/01/2019 21:46

I’ve had him since he was 10 weeks old. I doubt I’ll have him for much longer 😨 but he’s had a good life. He was a house cat along with his litter brother for about eight years and it was only when I moved house and had ds2 that I was suddenly so busy that I decided to let them out. It was the perfect time as I would have worried myself sick about them if I haven’t been preoccupied 👶

NursieBernard · 13/01/2019 22:17

Thank you for the birthday wishes Smile DH and I spent a couple of days away child free (first time in nearly 18 years)

Very spendy day buying presents for DS1 & DS2. DS1 turns 18 so we have spent more than we normally would.

Frugal thing today, reserved the HFW book online from the library instead of buying it as I normally would have done.

Em Life in Pieces is on Amazon Prime and is very funny.

SneakyGremlins · 13/01/2019 22:22
