Greatest Showman is amazing wolf enjoy

Wolfcub · 27/01/2019 10:45

Sadly it appears we won’t be going anywhere today.

Thatsnotmybaby · 27/01/2019 11:25

I'm sorry to hear that @Wolfcub, i take DS is not cooperating?

Thatsnotmybaby · 27/01/2019 11:27

I think our brunch plans are also off as DD should be finishing up her nap around now but she still hasn't gone to sleep, teething I think, and a bit of a cold too. I might just stay at home with her if she sleeps and DH and DS can go out, I have nice bread and chocolate spread so I can treat myself at home!

moimichme · 27/01/2019 11:35

Aww that's a shame Wolf but maybe it's a more frugal option?

£5 yesterday for tip at curry restaurant (DH paid the actual bill, lucky me!). It's been weeks since we had dinner out and it was nice. Also tidied up, cleaned the shower, did a load of laundry and all the dishes so we are almost caught up again.

Today is very windy here but at least we have some sun. Need to do a big shop at Morrison's shortly. Meal plan for this week:

Mexican refried beans and rice
Vegan sausage rice veg casserole
Lentil ratatouille pasta
Stir fry with fancy tofu and rice
Indian coconut chickpea & broccoli curry

moimichme · 27/01/2019 11:38

Jam or others, how/what do you cook with jackfruit? We have some but I've no idea what to do with it. That one night and a nut roast with veg could be the full week.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/01/2019 13:52

£1 parking for dive club X 2. Do £2£32 Sainsbury's.

Bloody horrible day today. Footy was too cold. The kids were crying with cold.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/01/2019 13:52

Sorry to hear that wolf. The greatest showman is very good.

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2019 14:18

A day of chores here
Wolf sorry to hear that
Life poor children

I went about changing a bulb in my car & succeeded in losing the old one inside the light fitting & cant get it out, how do mechanics manage my hands are smaller than men's and I can't get it out Angry

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/01/2019 14:52

Oh no wolf hope you're okay.

wreck sorry but am giggling at your response to the possibility of being pregnant! !

It's blowing an absolute hooley here today, met a friend for a walk with her little ones and we had a bracing walk to the park! Got drinks and cake at a coffee shop £6.

Dd has lots of homework so is cracking on with that, I'm watching Friends 😆 might bake something in a bit....

Lovemaltesers · 27/01/2019 15:46

£23 Tesco

I stuck a time limit of 59 minutes on social media per day at 9am on my phone. To find I'd already used all my time. That was quite eye opening BlushBlushBlush So quick sneak on to say hi, until I get some more time tomorrow

WreckTangled · 27/01/2019 17:33

£11.90 today on spinning and swimming. Managed to avoid the vending machine on the way out 🤤

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2019 18:22

Does swimming make you starving wreck? I'm always hungry after swimming!

Meatballs and spaghetti here for dinner
Dd says she's doing dessert I'm wiped so hoping family movie now and bed.

Justanothermile · 27/01/2019 18:24

love, I'm trying to do similar. Read more and browse less. Sometimes it works....

Jackfruit - I use as a replacement pulled pork so I make a bbq type sauce, sometimes more of a Mexican fajita type mix. It works well in the slow cooker and then in wraps or jacket potatoes. You don't get much in a tin for the cost, just so you are aware of this fact, so I bulk up with roasted veg and salad etc. It's a really yummy taste though - definitely worth a try.

It's been my birthday weekend but DH has been really poorly with a chest infection so it's been a bit of a damp donut but hey ho. Had to cancel plans for yesterday evening but at least that's frugal.

Weekend spends were
£14 for a substitute takeout which wasn't that nice.
£8 Marks and Spencer
£18 Boots on protein shakes, selling off for £6 from £18. DD uses them as she weight trains and was happy with the reduced ones.

Meal plan
Nut roast tonight, lots of veggies.
Tofu stir fry.
Fennel, olive and new potato stew.
Veg tagine, harissa roast cauliflower and couscous.
Lemon risotto.
Veggie wraps.
Veggie shepherds pie and trimmings.
Something easy like sausage and chips, omelette etc or veggie pesto pasta.

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2019 18:25

Didn't get dressed or leave the house so nsd

Justanothermile · 27/01/2019 18:25

Going to make flapjack tomorrow, lonely's recipe. We've nothing at all sweet in the house.

WreckTangled · 27/01/2019 18:32

No happier, well it didn't really today. We weren't in there long though as the pool is so bloody cold.

ChristmasSeacow · 27/01/2019 19:17

Hello all! It is bloody cold here, I feel sorry for those who had to stand on sidelines today.

Wedding didn’t quite go to plan... DH and I argued on the way but then called a truce for the time being... so that was okayish. Wedding itself was lovely - the venue was beautiful (v posh!) and the meal was amazing. I felt great in my dress and had lots of compliments - losing 2+ stone since September has done me the world of good. But about an hour after the meal I started to feel a bit weird.... and then I was spectacularly sick. At least I made it to the loos Blush. I had been cold and mostly shivering all through the meal; I thought it was just the massive room we were in but actually realised I had the sickness bug that’s been going through the house. Got an Uber home with DH (£23) instead of either of us staying in the hotel, so that was about £100 wasted, but I didn’t think I’d manage getting up with the kids. So I was sick all night - couldn’t even keep water down - and DH had the joy of getting up at 6am with the kids and a slight hangover. I’ve been in bed almost all day. Feeling much more human now and keeping water down so just chancing my first cup of tea.

Ho hum. It could have been worse, at least I made the wedding and the wedding breakfast even if I missed most of the party. I was glad it was pretty near home too - just over the river really.

Ocado came today, £52 but I’d forgot to put the few extra fresh bits in the basket onto the final order so it’s not actually a week’s worth of food. I will try to get to Sainsbury’s tomorrow as I need to get a few things that only they sell (I like their low fat sausages, frozen pizzas etc). So I can do a big-ish top up. I can’t even really think about food today so DH has bought himself a ready meal as he completely can’t cook.

Mum finally went home today - she had originally planned to go on Thursday night but only felt up to driving today. It’s not been a great week in this house, hope next week will be better!

Apols - I’ve skimmed over most of your posts as I can’t face reading about food HmmGrin

Happierwithouthim · 27/01/2019 19:21

Oh seacow you poor poor thing. On all counts, great feeling good in your dress though Grin

ememem84 · 27/01/2019 19:36

Oh no sea you poor thing. Hope you feel better soon!!

I even never tried jackfruit. Keep seeing it but haven’t been brave enough yet.

Spends today £20 eBay on sleeping bags for ds (18-36 month ones)

Have listed a few bits today too so hopefully they sell.

Went to the beach today. Ds wasn’t sure at first then just charged about (see pic)

We also went to the park and then to dparents for dinner.

Just got home. Dh is off to Southampton tomorrow for work. Bit annoyed actually at this. He changed roles in his work because his old role involved too much travel. And this is the third time this month he’s been away. Sigh

Anyhoo.

Early night as I have to deal with dparents early tomorrow morning on my own. Dhs flight is at 8 so he’ll be gone by 7. He’s back at 10pm on Tuesday.

Frugaleers dripping their way through a wet January...
WreckTangled · 27/01/2019 19:50

Oh sea sorry you got ill! I hope you're better tomorrow and pleased your mum is ok now.

Em beach looks gorgeous...if you ever need a house sitter..Wink hope dh is going to bring you back some random shit from Ikea. I'm sure there's things you need for the house!

Unescorted · 27/01/2019 20:27

Happy Birthday Jam

Sea I hope you are feeling a bit better and the tea stayed where it should.

em that is a lovely beach.... and the little lad in the foreground ain't bad either Wink

wolf hope you day improved. I was over your way today checking out abseiling points. It was so windy I was nearly blown off the top of (thankfully a small) cliff top. We retired to the café not long after.

spends today - £84 in Aldi, week of food and another stock up of store cupboards just in case. And £13.50 at the café. I bought for my mate who is feeling skint and her mad cap adventures keeps me out of the gym, so kind of a saving.

northender · 27/01/2019 21:09

Happy birthday Jam
Sorry you're feeling rough Seacow, sickness bugs are horrible.
life it's been cold and windy here today and a couple of my friends were out watching dc playing football, glad ds doesn't play anymore when it's this kind of weather.
We are going to Edinburgh next weekend and have just found out Scotland are at home to Italy in the rugby on Saturday so it should be quite an experience!
Been invited to a friend's 40th birthday in Switzerland in April. Another friend has also been invited but isn't sure if she can go so I'll wait and see. If she is able to go then we'll both go, if she can't, I won't either. It doesn't look too expensive for flight & hotel but would have to keep a strict eye on spends when there.
Ds has played cricket again today, no cost.
Dd had a great time with her friend last night. Another friend was quite nasty with her recently and she has dealt with it so well, considering how difficult she can find things, so it was lovely to see her enjoying herself.
Low spend weekend here. Aiming not to spend much until the weekend (except reward tea for cutting back spending in January!). We are going to a local Italian tomorrow £5.50 for any pizza or pasta, so we'll have that plus one drink each, so £30 max.

northender · 27/01/2019 21:10

Lovely pic Em. I love the coast in winter time.

SnugglySnerd · 27/01/2019 21:24

Our kids were miserable in the cold today too. Our Sunday afternoon outing was cut rather short!
Just taxed car £30 and did Tesco order £63. Not too bad but far from one of my best weeks.
Just googled Ted Baker sizes as I'm watching something on eBay and found an old mn thread about it with lots of advice from Laska. Hope that she and our other missing frugaleers are all ok. Hope they will join us again soon.
