My nice woodeny clarinet just came back from the fixers and it is all working nicely, so I am a happy bunny. It was £170, which is a lot better than buying a new one that wouldn't have sounded as nice.

ememem84 · 02/10/2018 14:49

Ds’ one year check done. He’s perfect (well duh) and he was given a nice pack of books. Yay.

Off to see the lawyer this afternoon. Apparently a drainage report was done earlier this summer. Why no one bothered to send this to our lawyer is beyond me.

Anyway. Having a chat with him in a bit. And will take it from there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/10/2018 15:04

Well I was surprised jam tbh.
No unfortunately not old enough for prosecco.
The taste card is 241 but doesn't include kids. Gonna see if they will do me half price instead

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/10/2018 15:24

Wolfcub · 02/10/2018 16:00

Life it might be worth downloading the pizza express app. I think sometimes you can get free pizza for new downloads.

Wolfcub · 02/10/2018 16:01

Em fingers crossed the drainage report is helpful but a bit ridiculous of their solicitor it to disclose it already if it is!

Justanothermile · 02/10/2018 16:03

Happy Birthday to DS life, we do the same, birthday person gets to choose the meal. I've more Lego cards to send too.

I'm glad he's moved out now mammy, there are only positives from this.

Spends
£1 washing up liquid, 100% free.
£12 on fresh fruit and veg, an embarrassing amount from the local shop, who I know well. He wouldn't let me give more.

Bornlazy · 02/10/2018 20:52

Spends today £33 in Aldi and £4 in M&S on satsumas. There are some things that are just worth paying a little bit more for and I think M&S fruit is one of them, plus you know it will get eaten in one day and won't have to go in the bin.

Happy birthday to em and to Life's ds Cake

I am going to really try and cut down the amount of time I spend online as I don't think it is at all good for me. It is too easy to spent almost the whole day when the kids are at school just staring at a screen and nothing else gets done Blush Need to get this house sorted out soon.

ememem84 · 02/10/2018 21:10

born I need to cut back too. She says. Ironically posting on her phone....

thistimenextsummer · 02/10/2018 21:15

Happy birthday em 🍰🎈⭐️!

Born good satsumas are worth their weight in gold - nothing more disappointing than a dry, tasteless segment 🍊

I've just sat down with a brew - have not stopped all day. Full on work, dh working away, clicked and collected, petrol, batch cooking whilst all the usual bath/bed etc going on. I'm still waiting for our sheets to finish in the dryer before I can even attempt collapsing into bed.

Wrongwayup · 02/10/2018 21:56

Happy birthday em.🐎spendy here today. Gulp

AdoraBell · 02/10/2018 22:09

Happy birthday em 💐🍾

Grocery delivery today, £90-ish

Mimena · 02/10/2018 23:22

Quick check in before sleep - happy birthday to em and life’s ds - for the last 45 minutes of it anyway! Hope the house situation gets resolved tomorrow em so you can start to properly get organised.

Thanks fluffy for the cash back site etc sugggestions - got TopCashback and kidstart, but will look at the others.

I need to drive around 60 miles total on a work day, mostly motorway, hence fuel bills of over £300 a month (!) so I’ve started trying to improve my fuel economy by driving slower. Finding it a struggle as I get more caught up in amongst the idiot drivers, ah well I shall persevere!

mammynowanauntyIRL · 02/10/2018 23:42

Just in before end of the day - happy Birthday to em & life-ds 🍰**

WreckTangled · 03/10/2018 07:28

Mimema dh and I spend over £300 a month on fuel too.

Wolfcub · 03/10/2018 07:32

Morning all. Happy frugal Wednesday.
Mim in a past job, and not that many years ago, I did 90 miles a day for work so I sympathise very much with the petrol costs thing. And the wear and tear on the car too. Martin Lewis has a thing about finding the cheapest garage. Given how far you travel it might be worth checking both where you live and where you travel to to see where it’s best to fill up. Also tyre pressures make a difference to fuel consumption so it might be worth investing £8 in a cheap tyre pressure gauge so you can keep an eye on that. I got fed up of bothering my dad for his or spending 20p at the garage to check tyre pressures

thistimenextsummer · 03/10/2018 07:37

Ouch for petrol spends - is it because you live rurally? We have dreams of moving to deepest, darkest Devon but not sure how we'd get by with commuting costs - even to the closest town.

I couldn't get to sleep last night. Couldn't switch my brain off. Feel like I'm dropping the ball a bit with my own children whilst spending all day with other people's. Dd has a real apathy towards any kind of homework, reading etc - any tips?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 03/10/2018 07:49

Happy Birthday em and life ds 🎂for yesterday, hope you both had a great day.

WreckTangled · 03/10/2018 08:09

Yes we're rural and I work in the community. Colleagues who do the same job don't use anywhere near as much as me though because their patch is much more condensed. Before I worked in the community I probably only used £50/month less though. We also don't have much choice when it comes to petrol stations

SummerDaize · 03/10/2018 08:33

I reckon being rural and having a driving job can really cost a lot in petrol. I used to drive long distances every day, up to 50 miles. Then I went down to 24 miles a day, and that still cost a lot. Now I walk or cycle almost everywhere, and I only need to put petrol in the car two or three times a years, which feels really strange.
