NSD.

Felt really cold and achy today, think I may be coming down with something so made roasted broccoli soup for dinner and feel a bit better but going to take some codeine and get an early night.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/10/2018 19:53

Also going to re read.
Turned out to be both fucking expensive and frugal today.

Cancelled a load of DDS.
3x mag subs, various, 2x mortgage insurance £35 ish per month, £5 team RH sub, £200 savings but will redirect, £500 mortgage payment,.
Will get £600 refund from building society as closed accounts on the day direct debits went out.
£10 per month national trust but £15 voucher back and hopefully £7 cash back.

Big spend. Well transfer, £xxk just under from offset to mortgage. Only possible through frugality. Now mortgage free. Yippee.

Wolfcub · 01/10/2018 19:56

northender · 01/10/2018 20:22

Amazing Life well done!

Wolfcub · 01/10/2018 20:23

Life you will soon build savings back up too with not paying mortgage and insurance. I’m absolutely delighted both you and Lonely have had such fantastic frugal achievements this year making such significant changes to your finances

ememem84 · 01/10/2018 20:26

Good work life

Lovemaltesers · 01/10/2018 20:28

Well done life. I love how you just snuck it in at the end of your post Grin

Sad news here tonight. DPs grandad died.

Justanothermile · 01/10/2018 20:43

Thanks for the kind comments about DS. I guess we are pretty close, I hadn't considered it before! He is a genuinely decent, if quiet soul so I'm sure he'll find his people as they say, it might take a little longer being less gregarious. He says his flat mates are decent folk so fingers crossed they will all gel and get along.

Hope you feel better soon curves, and you cag (good at least you can still sit and be productive though).

I'm so glad to hear good news about your DS north, is the clearer skin a consequence of the AB, or something else entirely?

Tagine will be on our menu too wolf.

I'm so sorry to hear about your DP's grandad love, were they close?

Tomorrow I will
Run
Boot camp
Fruit/veg shop
Washing
Start to gut DS's room
Two dog walks
Book a hotel for friends wedding.
Clean up the spare room.
Meet friends for one dog walk.
Hair cut.
See Tim Vine in the evening!

So sorry love Flowers

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/10/2018 21:05

Ah sorry to hear that love.

You did well with that boy jam.

Thanks everyone. Save hard to move now.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 21:16

@life that's amazing well done to you both on that achievement, I was reading it saying whys she cancelling mortgage insurance sure that's crazy!

@Lovemaltesers he moved out yesterday Grin told dc today, dd is happy that there will be no more fighting, unfortunately he described it as a possibly temporary situation, saying to me by text that false hope is better than no hope AngrySad I disagree so will have to broach that subject again.

Just spent €2 on a chicken bacon burger from eurosaver menu as I spent too long talking to my cuz and hasn't time for dinner! Waiting now of course so could've eaten at home.

Lovemaltesers · 01/10/2018 21:23

Are you allowed to change the locks mammy? But glad he has gone.

I think being told by his dad, and him being so choked up was really hard for DP. Although his grandad had really struggled in recent years and was very lonely, DP has some great memories of his grandad when he was younger as they spent a lot of time together. Lots of hugs for DP tonight.

Wolfcub · 01/10/2018 21:33

Love so sorry to hear that Flowers

Wrongwayup · 01/10/2018 21:40

Sorry to hear that love. How old was he? ⛽ today. £40/ nearly gone already as 250 mile trip to see aged relative. Think I went past girlie. M5 all the way south. Anyone else I went past? Started new job last month. September pay paid off overdraft. Paid 200 off interest free credit card and bought some premium bonds
Need a few more frugal months to be on top of things

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/10/2018 21:48

love sorry to hear that.

life that's amazing, I dream of being mortgage free one day! !

mammy thank god he has gone, yy to changing the locks. I'm not surprised the kids are relieved, you must be as well 😙 well done.

jam glad ds got off okay, he sounds a credit to you. My friend whose dd has just gone off to vet school said she was fine when she went but about two days later it hit her and she couldn't stop crying. I honestly can't imagine dd going, I will be proud, worried and heart broken in equal measures I think!!

I'm tired tonight so off to bed, I don't think I got an interview for that job 😕 a colleague also applied and she got an email today to invite her to an interview and I didn't. I'm not too sad and it has given me a clearer idea of what I do need to do in the future so that's good.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 01/10/2018 22:26

@love no because he still co-owns house
Definitely lots of hugs for your dp, hard to lose a grandparent at any age

Jam be kind to yourself dh and dd over coming days, so sweet that your dd misses him so much. Mine are getting even closer I hope they'll have that bond yours do.

kitkat6 · 01/10/2018 22:51

fluffy thank you for the links

life the day so many dream of - congratulations!

Low spend day here on a tesco meal deal for the elder child after football. It was £3 well spent.

Only other spend was a business expense £15 on a business networking meeting.

Cagliostro · 01/10/2018 22:55

Aw sorry love :( Thanks

Bloody well done life that's amazing!

Tesco ordered. A fuckton of washing done, various meetings and home ed admin done, etc etc.

Non frugal news, both Caglets' tae kwon do licences need renewing AND they have gradings coming up. £132. Jeez. I'm glad they love it though and seem to be doing really well (lots of praise in lessons, used as positive examples for the other kids etc :)) DD was having a wobble about it over the summer but that seems to be gone now - helps that she's kicking all the boys' butts at it :o :o :o

Mammy DD's reaction says it all, I'm so so glad he's moved out, life starts here! :)

Wolfcub · 02/10/2018 04:41

Mammy that’s great news too. Here’s to a fabulous October for all frugalleers.

In my short but painful experience I agree with you that some hope is not necessarily a good thing. I’ve always said no hope here and the sw and others agree that was the correct thing to do in the circumstances and some hope could just prolong the situation for dc

mammynowanauntyIRL · 02/10/2018 05:57

@Wolf once I've stuff sorted out with solicitor I'll be telling them the truth too.
I know your ds is having a tough time but would delaying that have helped him suffer less? I think not and glad the professionals agree with you.

Cag well done to your dc, ds went to taekwondo for first time yesterday
