Feel very fortunate now, work don't question our stationery order Grin but I use bic pens because the inky ones end up on my clothes and arms depending on time of year.

ememem84 · 16/07/2018 21:27

I love a colourful post it. Currently I have pineapple ones.

Must take my pusheen the cat ones in. #professional

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/07/2018 21:32

We rely on reps for pens 😉

Small frugal win, I've started using microfiber cloths in the kitchen to wipe surfaces etc. Have found these wash well so am not having to buy additional cloths plus better for the environment as was chucking the previous ones away when they got manky. You can buy a pack of 3 in aldi for a couple of quid.

sunny have you got space in your garden for a small wildlife pond? Would make a great project for you and your ds, we bought a small plastic tub (slightly bigger than a washing up bowl) and sunk it into the ground, put a few rocks in and a few small water plants and wait for the wildlife to arrive. Ours is full of water snails now which seemingly appeared out of nowhere! Might be fun for your lot as well cag works best in a very shady area.

We save all “free” pens and then donate them to a charity which takes stuff to African schools.

So if I’m on a training course and there’s free stationery (pen pencil etc) I grab a couple and pop them in a bag in my cupboard. I went to a seminar the other day and then after there was like a “market” where we could check out other businesses, recruiters, I managed to grab a whole load of branded swag (pens pencils usb sticks lanyards etc) and added that to the bag too. When it’s full I’ll drop it off at the charity place.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/07/2018 21:39

Thunder and lightening here. Love it

Sammy900 · 16/07/2018 21:44

Thanks for the welcome peeps :)

I forgot to mention in my intro plan bit that I've also switched energy providers as we were paying 215 a month before!!!

Mini food win today - packet of 8 sausages £1.69 / bag of carrots 45p / Mushrooms 79p (already got onions and potatoes from the garden, tin of toms and sausage mix in the cupboard) = sausage casserole for the family for tommo for £2.93 :)

This reminds me of being a student back in the day (18 years ago!!) ha £10 challenge shop for the week at Asda - that included 10p noodles and a big bottle of cider - mmmm nutritious (don't worry my nutrition standards have raised quite a lot since then)

I am lucky that my O/H is really into growing fruit and veggies, herbs in the garden we will soon have gazzillions of tomatoes - I've just not made use of it all properly before

Sammy900 · 16/07/2018 21:46

It's threatening a rain storm here....wish it would!!

ememem84 · 16/07/2018 21:51

Hi sammy another one with a garden. So jealous.

When we finally get our new place I’m growing stuff. I’ve never grown anything before. But am going for it.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 16/07/2018 22:26

I never grew anything before getting my house em 🌸🌹🍀🌻🌼🌿 I now have a healthy plant addiction 😉

CremeEggThief · 16/07/2018 22:28

Really enjoying the heavy rain and thunder and lightning tonight. Makes me feel all cosy!

Spends: £4.50 return bus fare and £15 for a pub meal out and 2 cappuccinos, for a pal's birthday meal, tonight.

Sammy900 · 16/07/2018 22:54

honestly I'm just lucky as my O/H is well into his gardening....I haven't got a clue really I just wander out and pick some basil haha

I've asked him to make me a list of everything that's out there so I remember to go and use it (how pathetic am I) he has like 5 different types of blueberry bushes which I didn't even know about until the other day.....he has been trying to get me involved for ages (I do all the cooking) and I am embarased to say I had to have a tour of the garden

I'll shut up now, realise this isn't going to win me any friendship points...just sort of saying how much of a prat I have been :/

Sammy900 · 16/07/2018 22:58

...if it's any consolation I have previously chucked all my spare money down the drain and so am starting from scratch - no savings yet or anything - just starting out :)

Sammy900 · 16/07/2018 23:11

ps does anyone know what to do with a horseradish plant?

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/07/2018 04:53

That sounds lovely Sammy. I think it's okay to be proud of the things you have here too.

Wolfcub · 17/07/2018 05:37

Sammy I know you grate it. After that I haven’t got a clue

Sat at station waiting for the train. I am soooo tired. The air feels a bit fresher after the storm though which is lovely.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/07/2018 06:28

Sore throat here. Tired as couldn't sleep as too full after binging.

The storm was awesome. Fresh here today again.

ememem84 · 17/07/2018 06:55

sammy you grate it? Then (somehow) turn it into sauce. And eat it with beef. Or sushi (is horseradish like wasabi?)

This is what I imagine your garden is like (given you had to have a tour). Please don’t correct me....I love a walled kitchen garden! Haha. This is what I dream of having. But sadly it’ll have to stay a dream. Unless we win lottery.

Today dh is having to go to work early. I’m doing the driving so will be dropping him off then parking then Nursery run then work then he’ll do the nursery pick up so I can go to the gym.

I am wearing my bright sunshine yellow dress today. and am hoping it’s not too short for the office no heels today. Leopard print flats. #justbloodywearit

Hi Sammy
We have all been prats brilliant word thats why we are here !
I made plum crumble cake 😇

LonelyOversharer · 17/07/2018 07:24

Morning. Just £8 yesterday, and most of that was 6+ calpol. I had an odd pathetic moment when I realised I no longer need to buy pink baby calpol! Not that I buy more than a couple of bottles a year, just the end of an era.

I am stunned at work related things. It never crossed my mind that people did without as work didn't buy the things you liked/needed. I have already bought lots of pens and stickers for jar lids (mix and label paints), the girl who does this has used old shipping labels cut up for 3 years. She seemed stunned that I just bought some that fitted the lids properly. But then I've not been working very long, so am used to just buying things I need. £3 very well spent and better than going cap in hand to the office with a request, that may or may not get approved. For stickers.

Pintrest is your unusual ingredient friend. Jars of creamed horseradish? Fresh is uber firey I believe.

That is my dream cottage walled garden too em mine totally looks like that if I close my eyes and turn around

CurlsandCurves · 17/07/2018 07:41

Morning, welcome Sammy.

We got a few drops of rain last night and that was it, booo. Love a good thunderstorm.

Did the weekly shop last night. Thought I’d get loads of yellow sticker bargains by going after 7pm but there was naff all. But I was £10 under budget so pleased with that. And that included a box of lager and a box of wine AND 4 cans of deodorant (stocking up while they are half price).

WreckTangled · 17/07/2018 07:54

Nsd yesterday and today will be the same. No rain or storms here although it is meant to be cooler today.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/07/2018 08:08

Lovely sunny day here for now.
Welcome Sammy
Going to buy some holiday things today with boots points

SnugglySnerd · 17/07/2018 08:20

Oh gosh yes I'm constantly buying things for school out of my own money eg glue sticks, highlighters, pens and pencils. I don't mean just for me, I mean actual class sets. Most teachers do this I think.
Intrigued to know why the NHS banned post it notes. I use them to remember everything!

Have cleaned cooker and kitchen sink and am now thinking what to do today. It looks like ice cream weather again so maybe we'll go out for a treat!

No thunder gear last night Sad

WreckTangled · 17/07/2018 08:30

It may well just be our trust snuggly but they disappeared off the stationery order! I think they were trying to get us to use the post it function on our laptops but you can't stick those to paperwork Confused

It's lovey and sunny here too but with a nice cool breeze

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/07/2018 08:47

More dark clouds here. Forecast rain
