No longer a NSD. Bought tickets to Chicago for Saturday night. It's going to be an unfrugal, but good weekend away for DP and I

I'll have to catch up on ewfl on iPlayer

Wolfcub · 12/07/2018 21:23

Life I’ve just bought a load of dresses and tshirts from joules for holidays. Really good quality thick fabric

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/07/2018 21:28

We watched ewfl, I thought the same fluffy about him being diabetic, his comment about being a normal weight made me raise an eyebrow as well!! I drink one can of coke a year at the local carnival, that's enough 😉 I def watch and feel smug!

Interesting chat re food and diets, I think most women (and lots of men as well) have slightly complex relationships with food, I went through phases of not eating enough as a teen and am still quite picky. A few people at work do SW and it does seem like a weird diet, they reckon the reason they're over weight is that they don't eat enough 😕

Lsd 60p drink.

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/07/2018 21:31

life there is a joulesoutlet seller on eBay which sells their sales stuff. Nectar points too!

AdoraBell · 12/07/2018 21:31

£2.50 on Big Issue
£6. two packets of cotton handkerchiefs, so that I can stop using tissues.
And two quid on a coffee.

Hope you and DH enjoy Chicago.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 21:33

Ooh this EWFL sounds like a doozy! (Is that how you spell it?!) I will have to catch up with it. May watch in front of the Caglets too, they are developing a penchant for crappy reality TV 😳 and it’ll be interesting to see what they make of it. I want them to be more involved in the shopping once we’ve moved - still plan to get a weekly Tesco delivery with heavy stuff, but we will be much nearer a huge Asda and a small Tesco, so well-planned top ups (if such a thing exists 🤔) could be the way forward, I’d love them to have more input and budgeting practice with choosing meal ingredients etc. Apart from anything else, cooking should become a bit more enjoyable with more counter space (although still have fussy DS to contend with).

Wreck you do the weight screening don’t you? It must be hard when parents ignore the result. I actually weighed DS today after myself, as DD1 was measured at the paediatrician recently due to being on medication (melatonin for sleep) but DS doesn’t see anyone. I worry more about his weight but according to the NHS thing his BMI is well within the healthy range too, just higher within the green bit than DD1 who is near the bottom end of healthy. I do sometimes measure waist and height though as the ratio is important too apparently. My grandma and mum and I are all overweight (very) I would really like to break this cycle. Especially as DGM has type 2 diabetes.

Activity is important too, I was brought up very sedentary such that even “going for a walk” was totally unheard of, any climbing or jumping or running was “too boisterous”, it’s a lot to unlearn. I’m lucky that DH is a fit runner and that’s really rubbed off on my two especially since they now do so many clubs including his sports classes, but what I really want is for it to be a whole family affair rather than something I have to sit out on well I’m not well enough. Which is still a lot sadly. But it is improving (ridiculously hot weather notwithstanding... my POTS is really acting up ATM) and hopefully being walking distance to town, and near a big park, will help further.

Must stop waffling now! 😳

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 21:36

When* I’m not well enough, I mean.

I’m up for a frugal weight loss thread too so as not to keep derailing! 😳

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2018 21:38

I can stop blathering about food. It was nice to chat about it though. Back to saving now. Smile

ememem84 · 12/07/2018 21:45

I am determined to sort my shit (money stuff) out this weekend.

I hypothetically spent probably £15 today on part of dads birthday gift. New album by roger daultry. Not in shop but on order so asked for it to be put aside.

I love joules. The dresses are great. Tshirts are lovely and soft and I lust after the leopard print heeled Chelsea boots.

Kids clothes are great too actually. Wash well and the sales are always amazing.

CurlsandCurves · 12/07/2018 21:45

Hey @wolf hope you get a good old sleep tonight.

Have recorded ewfl, looking forward to it.

Washing machine man turned up, said the seal hasn’t been put in properly. But has told the bosses it’s the drum so I will get a replacement as opposed to him just fitting a new seal.

Did a weights class this morning, but for some reason I have felt like eating everything in sight all day! Really tried to stick to good stuff to fill me up but I did raid the kids sweet tin. I bought them some of the new Haribo reduced sugar sweets so hopefully the damage won’t be as bad as it could have been.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 21:57

PMS curls? My cycle really affects my appetite.

I would love to hear more about your adventures eating new things sunny don’t stop sharing!

Fuckloads to do tomorrow. Including piano removal (£108 but worth it! It’s basically my first love since I had it since age 10)

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2018 22:01

Thanks Cag. Good luck with the piano move.

Wrongwayup · 12/07/2018 23:00

Lsp. Just £15 on picnic food for 2 days. Bring on the rain.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 23:08

Oh man I watched EWFL. That was a shocker! I’m glad it was more about cooking than endless brand swaps though. #nowiwantsteak

Frugaleers talk weight loss & food http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3304935-frugaleers-talk-weight-loss-food

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2018 23:42

I just tried to go back and sort out my numbers since January and they're hopelessly incomplete. It seems as though when dh started his new job, my book keeping went right out of the window.

I suppose I just have to start again from now, as I've done well this month and written everything down.

Cagliostro · 12/07/2018 23:50

I agree sunny just write the previous months off and move forward :) that kind of thing really tests me as I tend to be very all or nothing (asd) so it’s another thing I can do to challenge myself.

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/07/2018 23:55

Yes I suppose so. I need to write it off really as I just don't have the figures. I suppose I'll just put "x"s in those cells of my summary spreadsheet.

I know what you mean about the all or nothing thing. I'm noticing that more and more and trying to challenge it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/07/2018 06:36

Could you do a best guess sunny?

Have to get some food at some point probably today. Should be too expensive - famous last words

Might watch ewfl on iPlayer. I normally avoid it but it sounds good and tbf I could do with the tips

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/07/2018 06:45

I can't really life. It's all exact data on how much I spent on food per month and stuff like that, and I have no idea. It doesn't matter though. The point of the record keeping is to give me discipline from day to day, so the important thing is to get it right now really and to keep going. I'll do that instead. Smile

WreckTangled · 13/07/2018 06:56

Day off woo hoo! Going to spend my birthday voucher from dh and get a facial and back massage with a friend.

Wolfcub · 13/07/2018 07:31

Sunny why not create a copy of the spreadsheet, blank all the inputs and start from today or whenever you have hard data. That way you won’t lose your past info but you will have a clean start

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 13/07/2018 07:48

Fair enough. Wolf had a good idea there.
Just booked a free session for the summer holiday. Stem related stuff and a training session with Newcastle united.

Will use the trail card to get there

CurlsandCurves · 13/07/2018 08:02

Cheers for the new thread @mammy, will head over in a bit.

@sunn shame about your spreadsheet, I hate it when things become disorganised. Wolfs idea for a fresh start might be the way to go.

Enjoy your day off and pampering @wreck!

It’s going to be a bit spendy today as we are out with friends tonight for drinks. Got to get one child to cub camp as well, so my plan is to feed us all at macdonalds before heading up to camp, then home and quick change and out.

SnugglySnerd · 13/07/2018 08:32

Another disturbed night. All three dcs look exhausted already. It might be a long day!

Meeting a friend later. Might go for a coffee. I also want to order some name tapes for DD's school uniform. No other spends planned though.
