Snap, Em. I started reading that last night.Smile

ememem84 · 03/07/2018 21:06

creme I’ve been on and off on it for months!!! 6 hours to go!

CremeEggThief · 03/07/2018 22:10

I might finish before you then, Em, as I'm looking forward to another early night with it!☺

Unescorted · 03/07/2018 22:25

Evening all..... Purple Mange tout count in double figures. A kazillion french beans and Broad beans. Peas coming along. I have been eating my own body weight in salad. Lonely your seeds have saved me a fortune. Not least because I don't have to go to pick up fresh vegetables and fruit and therefore don't get tempted by all the other things at the shop. Thanks so much. Can we have negative spend days?

Dh has a job interview tomorrow... If he gets it the aim will be to save his entire wage. That will give an emergency cushion and pay for the next adventure.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 03/07/2018 22:30

Seacow my wardrobes have black doors Sad my lockers and chest of drawers are black with pine(I think) surrounds ikea's finest Grin

€6 on fairground rides for dc last night
€137.41 on grocery shop - used €12 discount code

Em and creme I've read it & it didn't do anything for me

Love fingers and toes crossed for you

Wolfcub · 03/07/2018 22:31

Fingers crossed for your dh Unescorted. You could try the green bean and halloumi tray bake with your produce. I’m intrigued by purple mange tout

Em is the book sad? I’m after holiday reading recommendations. I’m reading inspector montalbano at the moment.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2018 22:34

I’ve not read anything for ages. I have two books abandoned halfway somewhere.

I’m feeling a little sick but hoping it’s just anxiety/heat.

I still haven’t done the damn shopping. Just can’t think of meal plans and such. I think I’ll need to just order the stuff I’ve thought of as it’s better than nothing.

Unescorted · 03/07/2018 22:37

Google images of mange tout Shiraz... Awesome things. I am not sure they will remain purple when cooked.

Love sorry got carried away with vegetables. Good luck! As Sea says toes and fingers firmly crossed forr you.

I love inspector M.

Unescorted · 03/07/2018 22:39

cag can you just use a meal plan from a couple of months ago?. I do that...saves me having to think too hard and I know I will have the store cupboard bits in already.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2018 22:49

That would require me ever having had a meal plan I’ve kept and stuck to 😳😳😳

Unescorted · 03/07/2018 22:55

Maybe we should have a collective set to go with the posh nosh for babies collection.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2018 22:58

Now that’s an idea. :o

I am really really planning to get better at planning, with a bigger kitchen with decent oven and counter space (including, hopefully, room for heavy slow cooker and magimix to actually stay out) cooking should get a little easier.

I really struggle with it though, I know the stereotype is that autistic people thrive on routine but with this sort of thing I am the complete opposite! 😳

Turned out there were no slots for tomorrow anyway, WTF. Normally at this time there would still be quite a few even if our usual 8-9am was fully booked. Weird that there are literally none. So I’ve booked one early Thursday and will hopefully add to it tomorrow. Convenience is definitely going to win out though.

wolf sad? No. Well I don’t think so. I pitied Eleanor initially. Now I’m finding her endearing. But she’s obviously had a sad past.

ememem84 · 04/07/2018 06:57

I’ve also got the following to read/listen to:

Dark tower
Mr Mercedes
The tattooist of auschwitz
Friend request
The handmaidd tail
Lord of the flies - I grabbed my old copy I used for my English GCSEs from DMs the other day. There was a thread here about it and I’d forgotten how wonderfully dark and tragic that book actually is.

LonelyOversharer · 04/07/2018 07:13

unescorted they do! Even if you steam them for 3 or 4 minutes the water goes an anazing blue green colour. We have a glut of mange tout here. Picked half a kilo already, more coming. I just love geing able to pick fresh veg from the garden for tea, even if it's just a little bit.

Life is soooo busy! I know I've been coasting for years just working from home, but crikey, full time work doesn't half squeeze the rest of the day up. Last night I made biscuits with the dc's, untangled dd3's birds nest (aka her hair), and played yahtzee with them, and whoosh, it was bedtime. Dp made good pizza for tea, theres enough for lunch today too.

I really need to shop. I want to write a list and send dp, but I do not trust him enough to not just buy all the expensive sparkly brands, or not to come home with a whole turbout (like he did once) or huge steaks or something! I'll squeeze it in somewhere.

Yestersay was a nsd for me (dp bought pizza toppings etc), and the day before £7 in the co-op. So working is frugal, but need a food shop badly.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 04/07/2018 07:17

lonely could you do an online shop and arrange delivery for when dp is home during the day?
Yep there's not much of the evening left when you work fulltime, I've found it incredible how much more time I have the evening I finish work at 3, there's an opportunity to do something other than eat, chores, bedtime. How's your dp finding the transition?

LonelyOversharer · 04/07/2018 07:33

He's doing ok mammy I suspect he spends some fair portion of his day on the ps4...but he'll get there. I spent 6 years doing 'his' thing and the bike shop every bloody day which lost us roughly 40k so it is my turn now. He does the washing up, sorts out laundry (anyway, I didn't need to ask), does the pets and makes tea (if we have any food in). Most importantly he picks up the dc from school and comes and gets me from work.

I'm on a 3 month trial, so cannot book any holiday time yet, so the summer holidays will be the crunch. All dc, every weekday.

May have to internet shop, but I prefer Aldi and Lidl, so might just suck it up and go in the evening.

CremeEggThief · 04/07/2018 07:43

Em, I think it would be very interesting to re-read "Lord of the Flies" as an adult, and especially everything that's happening in current affairs recently.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/07/2018 07:50

Just place marking as it's chaos here

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/07/2018 07:50

Good luck with jobs and interviews

CurlsandCurves · 04/07/2018 08:02

Morning!

2 very tired boys here today who were allowed to stay up for the footie last night (even tho they weren’t actually watching it 🤔). In fact I was the only one who did as DH fell asleep on the sofa! Tried to wake him up for Harry’s first penalty but he was out cold! He is on board with the frugality thing, normally he would have gone to the pub to watch so that’s saved a bit.

Having a housey day today, stripping the boys beds, getting some ironing done, hoovering etc. Not great in this weather but I’ve been putting it off for way too long.

I was just thinking it would be a NSD but then remembered I’ve got a hygienist appointment later. There’s always something!

@unescorted fingers crossed for your DH. A whole full time wage to be able to save, that’s awesome! My brother and sil are about to be the same. Just his wage while she has been studying and now sil has landed a really good full time job. They took on quite a hefty mortgage a few years back so I know they’ll be wanting to get a good chunk of that paid off.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/07/2018 08:26

There was a blog about lived on one wage and used the other to overpay the mortgage, they were mortgage free at 30.

ememem84 · 04/07/2018 08:40

I suggested to dh we do that fluffy once we get new house we may try it.

creme I’m looking forward to reading it again.
