Meadow how exciting. Good luck. I’ve never done labour so no advice, ds came out through the sun roof but those new baby cuddles are great
I’ve made what I hope is a wise debt consolidation move. If you all tell me I’m batshit crazy I have 14 days to change my mind. Over the years we have put lots of joint debt in my sole name and I’ve been whittling away at it with joint money and, more recently my money alone. H has said he will sign the house over to me. It seems only fair I don’t also pursue him for half the joint debt which, as it’s in my name I’d struggle to do anyway.
Half that debt is on the credit card which has gone from 0% to extortionate which Fluffy and others keep telling me to move and I haven’t had any offers to move it to. The other half is in a loan which I’ve had for 5 months and which was taken out as debt consolidation with the sole purpose of paying off and getting rid over a fixed period.
The loan company (also my single account bank and mortgage provider) wrote to offer a loan extension. So I’ve applied and been accepted. It means I can move the half the debt on the credit card into the loan. Keep the remaining term and pay 3% interest instead of the 15.9 I’m currently paying. It does mean I will have to pay a fixed amount each month instead of a reducing amount but he fixed amount is £25 cheaper per month than what I paid for the current loan and card combined but the whole lot will be paid off in 55 months and off my back.
Good plan? Or not? It feels like it, it just ties me into a fixed payment long term.
I’ve also paid off my holiday today. I’d been sat on the money in my savings account waiting for credit card payment day so that o got some interest.
That leaves me with about £500 on a credit card to clear that I’m currently paying £15 a month on low interest, I play to use the extra 25 a month I’ve gained from the consolidation to pay this off quicker and I will pay divorce costs from savings.
