cag fabulous. Just brilliant. Now you can relax. How soon do you get the keys?!!

Ds had a great day yesterday, and to my utter surprise, my mum gave me and my sister an 'unbirthday' present of £500 Shock, apoarently she got heir hunted, from a long lost forgotten relative, and shared 1/81 of the estate. I have already paid it in! This will help buffer me out of my overdraft, saving me about £20/month.

Plus I can get the ferret castrated now, he's still in purgatory in the big cage, poor thing. And I might have bought a pair of storm blue funny dreams half price in Clarks today. I definatley did not need them!

Other spends, tesco £10, costa £6 and the garden centre £7. Was in hexham as dp had the dentist. I could have spent £££ on plants, but am not ready yet for pretty things.

north your boy sounds very sorted and grown up. To have dealt with that for such a long time by himself...he will be a most excellent adult, and those stupid shits who have been picking on him will only dream of doing the things he will go on to do.

Also we don’t have to pay for any flooring by the looks of it. Previous tenant was there under two years, and mostly the carpet is ok, so she gave us the option of keeping it. It’s a bit manky in places upstairs so we are going to get it properly cleaned and see how it goes. We will want to replace it eventually - especially the living room as we would like wooden flooring really. But at least we can defer the cost (and the hassle, since waiting for that to be done before moving in would take up valuable cleaning/moving in time).

Hallway and kitchen have wooden flooring, needs repainting really but it’s ok. Bathroom upstairs has lovely tiles, a few are cracked but that would all be replaced if I get a wet room anyway.

She wasn’t really sure if they’ll give permission for adaptations though 🙄 the general rule is that you have to wait a year to request any structural changes but surely it’d be different for medical adaptations? Am a bit paranoid they’ll say no and we will be stuck there 😱

Cagliostro · 11/06/2018 15:48

Don’t know lonely (nice shoes btw) they’d originally said Monday 😱 but they have to do gas safety checks, take the bits out we don’t want etc.

Random nice thing - curtain poles 😂 current place has those plastic rail things where you can’t get fancy curtains. Now we can have naice curtains thank you very much.

Plus, proper steel sink, not crappy yellow composite plastic one that was already pretty manky when we moved here.

Nice little details 😂

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/06/2018 16:14

Sounds great cag I'm so happy for you, could you afford to pay someone to deep clean or decorate? Your new garden looks about the same size as mine which is plenty big enough. Can your dh take any leave from work to help with all the move stuff?

I'm at work, tired as didn't sleep well due to the heat and light. NSD.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 11/06/2018 16:50

cag were those storage spaces big that you could see on the plans? What's proximity like to the kitchen? Reason for asking is my parents dishwasher is in utility and always has been, and wondering if that's an option for you?
Sounds great about flooring/tiles/painting etc, so excited for you Grin

em he's a little pudding isn't he? Well done you, you gave him a great start x

lonely that's a lovely surprise from your mum and you're dead right to treat yourself to something for you out of it too, great to get out of your overdraft also. Cake is brilliant too Grin you're very talented.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 11/06/2018 16:51

Not enabling anyone at all but has anyone ordered from Lindy Bop before? Just saw someone on facebook yesterday and admired her skirt and she got it from there, their stuff looks quirky & cute, lonely's shoes reminded me of it.

ememem84 · 11/06/2018 17:21

Aaaah mammy I’ve just looked at the website. There is a flamingo print pencil skirt which is calling to me. maybe on payday some super cute stuff though. I love the vintage style dresses. I have a black and white polka dot one (not from Lindy bop) with a full net skirt. It’s amazing.

Work = done. Hoorah. Just waiting for dh now then I can go and pick up squishy pudding baby cute face ds.

We’re reinstating roast chicken Monday’s. Hoorah. So roast chicken tonight. Yay. Probably with cous cous.

Took salad box in today and had one of DMs special Home made brownies.

Mmm

Cagliostro · 11/06/2018 17:35

Lindy bop is ace, my friend got my DD a couple of gorgeous dresses from there. If I ever have the confidence to wear dresses I will defo but from them

Narrow storage space is unfortunately too narrow! That is one of the few “meh” things about the house, as I’m not entirely sure what to do with that space. Pondering a couple of Kallax in there, which would be perfect for our games (I do like a board game or 2... or 200) and books, although DH is concerned about air flow.

Cupboard under the stairs is small. Should fit tumble dryer though.

Also the electric is on a prepay meter so we need to get that removed ASAP. Apparently some companies charge you to remove it 🙄😡

mammynowanauntyIRL · 11/06/2018 17:44

When I read 'Special' Brownies all I think of is 'magic' brownies Grin never having had them btw.

Glad to read that about Lindy bop and recognised a dress dsd had on lately from it too.

Could you shelve that space and make a pantry out of it?

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2018 17:46

Cag I’m very happy you took the house. Gutted there’s no room for a dw though. A year passes quickly though. Is it a gas oven or electric?.

Decorating will be cheap enough, Wilkos paint is nice.

Em He’s a chunky monkey isn’t he?.

98p two pineapples, like meadow says you can freeze it. 80p cashback.
52p lettuce
£1.50 work stuff.
£10 petrol.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/06/2018 18:01

Meh, lost a long post earlier. I also asked about the storage cupboard at Cag’s House Wink. Glad it’s positive on balance though Cag, and I echo what Girlie suggests about seeing whether you can get it deep cleaned before you move in. An empty house is quick to clean so it shouldn’t cost the earth, it would save a lot of time and hassle if you could run to it.

Brilliant cake Lonely, really fab. I am a harsh critic when it comes to cakes too! And good news about the money.

Can’t remember what else I said. I am currently deep in the after-school torture hours where DD constantly follows DS around and he shrieks at me to take her away... how many years does this phase last? Hmm

Cagliostro · 11/06/2018 18:50

Yes definitely positive overall. Lots of little positives as well as the obvious ones. I admit I felt a bit flat earlier as the negatives stood out and also I was stressed about having to decide about the flooring there and then (since the time frame is so tight). But I think it’s the right choice as when we need to redo the floor we can surely rip up the carpet ourselves anyway which is all they’d be doing.

I do think a deep clean would be worth the cost and stress, we have so much to do. How do I know who to choose and how much is reasonable?

I’m not sure about a decorator. Top priority is the Caglets’ bedrooms even if it’s just painting the walls for now (we might redo the floor when baby moves in with DD as we will be making a partition anyway). Living room probably last, it’s basicallly white so meh we will just hang pictures. Bathroom - no point if I get a wet room anyway. Downstairs loo (which is a surprisingly good size BTW) and kitchen and hallway decoration are, to put it nicely, not to our taste at all 😂😂😂 but not particularly important. That said the idea of paying somebody to just do the whole house is tempting but I dread to think how much it would cost.

I am reading a lot of tips about moving house but the problem is we aren’t just picking up everything and moving it, we have to choose and get lots of new furniture as well. I dunno maybe I’m overthinking! But I’m anxious to make all the right decisions, which is a bit silly really as a lot of it we can’t really know until we’ve lived in it for a while. But we do need to buy things so it makes sense to want to buy the right things!

I don’t think we would do a pantry thing in that cupboard as there is actually a really decent amount of cupboards in the kitchen so I’m hoping we can manage well with that.

Also yes I am gutted about the dishwasher TBH but my mum is getting a new kitchen soon and said we could have her counter top one - it is small but if there’s a way to plumb it in I think it would be worthwhile as a temporary measure. There is a lot more counter space despite the fact they’ve clearly cut an extra chunk away for the lovely oven. I kept going back to the oven throughout the viewing, it was difficult not to lovingly stroke it. 😂😂😂

By comparison, this is our current oven. So you can see why I am epically excited! (We didn’t pay anywhere near as much for it mind you.) we have an electric hob but this one is gas, not sure about the actual oven on the new one but it’s got more burners as well. Previous tenant said she was really hoping that we could get some use out of it so apparently she will be really pleased :)

ememem84 · 11/06/2018 18:59

Yeah “special” brownies are not “special” or “magic” in that sense. Dm makes them with aubergines. And ridiculously dark chocolate.

They are so gooey. And moist. And chocolatey and delicious.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/06/2018 19:10

Are you on any local fb groups cag could ask them to recommend a cleaner company and/or a decorator? Reasonably priced etc. I was gutted about having to give my beloved dw up so feel your pain!!

Dd at a dance festival, I've watered my garden (so it will probably rain tomos!!) and am now relaxing for a bit....

WreckTangled · 11/06/2018 19:15

I want a chocolate brownie now.

Ds had an almighty meltdown at bedtime because he said he was hungry. But for dinner he had 1/2 pork loin, new potatoes, olives, cucumber, carrot, humous, a bit of tomato, celery sticks and a yoghurt so I'm not convinced Hmm I feel bad though as he was so upset 😭 maybe it wasn't enough. Hmm.

ememem84 · 11/06/2018 19:46

I’d have cried wreck - olives. Bleurgh.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/06/2018 19:49

Pleased you took the house cag. The oven looks great. YY to ask on FB for cleaner recommendations. Get some neutral paint and freshen up where you can.

Lovely squish boy em. The little cutie.

I'm in Sheffield on Wednesday wolf.

£61 Aldi and £6 Iceland. Jesus the price of fucking food.

Hope the tooth is better now mammy.

I'm sure there is loads more, I will tag on add I remember but need to pick dd up from cubs now

WreckTangled · 11/06/2018 19:50

Oh yes em I forgot you're an olive hating weirdo Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/06/2018 19:50

How old is DS wreck. Mine can pack away an inordinate amount of food and he is like a rake. I wish I had his abs Grin although he is 8.5

ememem84 · 11/06/2018 19:55

Olives are rank. There’s not even an olive emoji. So ner. 🤪

northender · 11/06/2018 20:04

Lonely what a lovely surprise from your mum, great cake too & thanks for your kind words about ds. That's just about exactly how I feel, so, so proud of him. We decided not to watch him play on Saturday so missed his 50, but one of the other players took a photo of him raising his bat as he came back to the pavilion. It is probably my all time favourite pic of him as he looks so happy. I don't usually put any pics of him on facebook as he doesn't like it, but he was happy for this one to go on, so I now have a new profile pic Smile.
Em aubergine in the brownie mix, sounds interesting, love a gooey brownie.
Love good luck with the job application.
Cag sounds like the positives outweigh the negatives? A good clean and a coat of paint will make a world of difference.
Sea love the apple pic!
Wreck that sounds like quite an appetite!

I've been in work today, day off tomorrow. NSD for me today.Dh went into town at lunchtime and bought a few bits, not sure how much he spent though. I find this weather so energy sapping...
Ds had 2 exams today which went "Okay" his stock answer. 3 to go, the end is in sight, woohoo!!

WreckTangled · 11/06/2018 20:07

Life he's 5!

I loooooove olives, we all do!

QuiteCleanBandit · 11/06/2018 20:13
