Yes fluffy definitely better than a slap in the face with a wet fish

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 06/07/2017 20:27

I would def do enough miles but I would really miss the millage!! Does that mean I would pay more tax?

Coffee are you in the U.K? I earn more than that a month (single parent to one 1yo dd) and get working tax credits, how many hours do you work? Will your ex pay maintenance?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 06/07/2017 20:35

sorry not 1 yo - 11yo!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2017 20:42

Email the scheme provider & ask how it affects tax.

needastrongone · 06/07/2017 21:06

Evening.

Welcome Coffee. Lots of advice and support here. Do you menu plan? Assume use Aldi, Lidl, own branded stuff? Trawl your direct debits and cull any that are no longer needed.

Thank you for the info on the car hire Seacow and Fluffy. Something of the size of a Focus was what I was thinking.

Hope your DS is feeling better tomorrow Seacow.

Meadow I agree with the others. No point in feeling negative, turn that into convincing folk you are eminently employable. It's just going to take a lot of perseverance that's all. That's what I've told DD, who is only looking for Saturday work, but so is everyone else round here.

Had a crap day here. Had to take one of my friends injured ponies to the vets, haven't had a minute to sit down and had to dispatch a chicken tonight, or rather, DS VERY bravely did the deed.

Still tomorrow is another day. Today was crap, tomorrow will be fine!

Hoping you are having a better evening and night Snuggly. Things are tough at the minute your end, I can only try to imagine.

NSD though Grin

Hello all from my shiny new house 😊 Thank you all again for your good wishes. The move went pretty smoothly and I have done some unpacking although the house is still pretty chaotic tbh. Did hill reps with my running club tonight because I was just wired from adrenaline and lack of sleep. Hopefully I'll now sleep ok tonight.

Creme I took your advice and bought supermarket sushi for my tea. I had pizza last night so thought I'd better have something a bit healthier. I am in awe of how quickly you have got sorted in your new place - pretty sure it's going to take me weeks 😂

Sorry for those who have had troubles with cars/dogs/dentists/ponies.

cag glad baby caglet is all healthy but how inconsiderate not to reveal its sex 😂 Doesn't it know we're all waiting to find out?!

Expecting some very spendy weeks coming up, but I'm going to really try to plan my spends and make sure I'm getting a good deal. Also aiming for a renewed focus on no frittering. Starting on Monday because I do not have anything to make a packed lunch with for tomorrow 😬

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/07/2017 21:40

Did you bury the chicken?

HollyTheHarrier · 06/07/2017 21:42

Oh and I meant to say good luck to meadow and your DH with job hunting. I would apply for the job, and if you don't get it do try to get feedback. That way it should be a useful exercise even if unsuccessful.

Cagliostro · 06/07/2017 21:49

Aw poor chicken :( very grown up of DS to deal with that though and far kinder to get it done quickly.

I know holly baby is just naughty! We are going with girl though, they did say no boy bits from what they could see. Still going with unisex clothes for now but TBH we were anyway, it's only that DD will probably want to choose a couple of no doubt vastly impractical dresses for her little sister. Scan at 28 weeks and reeeeeally hoping we can know for sure! I've gone from wanting a surprise to being desperate to find out 😂

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2017 22:45

Sorry to hear about the chickenSad.

Have a fab time, Fluffy. You're bound to enjoy it all the more, after not having been away for 4 years.

Glad you took my advice and got something quick and easy (and healthy too, as a bonus!), Holly. I'm a massive tennis fan, so I wanted everything sorted before Wimbledon! Just a few more pictures and a mirror to hang around the place and that's it.

ChristmasSeacow · 06/07/2017 22:51

We've been here 9 years and got more to do than that Creme Wink

northender · 06/07/2017 23:03

Well done on the move holly
A lot of my colleagues have lease cars girlie. I don't as I'm part time so it's not worth it but those who are full time seem to get good deals.
Have a fab time fluffy
Another busy, hot day here. Went for a run this morning, then in to work for a staff meeting. Car insurance and house insurance sorted. I've ended up with Direct Line for both as they seemed the best deals.
Pizzas, cheese, olives and ice creams from aldi £14.
Two together railcard for me & dh £30. I got tickets for the Tom Petty concert at Hyde Park this weekend for dh for Christmas. We go down on Saturday morning and come back on Monday afternoon. Really looking forward to it. Some child free, cricket free time will be lovely. We're staying near Hyde Park in a 1 bed apartment. Sil & bil are joining us on Sunday. As we've got an apartment we can eat & drink relatively cheaply, I've got lots of lists on the go!
5 out of 7 ebay items sold on Sunday so I posted them all today. Didn't make much but every little helps

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2017 23:17

I think it's because we don't have a lot of stuff and I've spoken before about how obsessive I am about tidiness and order, Seacow. Our old 3 bedroom house only needed 22 packing boxes, as I used suitcases and bags as much as I could for clothes/shoes/other fabrics. Having said all that, the outhouse is full with stuff to donate/take to the tip, so it's amazing how much stuff you can get rid of, following a move; even if you know you don't have lots!

CremeEggThief · 06/07/2017 23:19

Enjoy Tom Petty, North. My friend and her partner are going to it. They're coming over from Ireland for it.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/07/2017 06:16

Think I'm getting a cold- throat is sore and nose is runny. I hate having a cold in warm weather

Yesterday a hat which got taken by DD to the childminder brand new, finally got returned after being missing for three weeks. But it looks like it had pen drawn in the inside and mould. No idea what happened to it. Yuck! And DD2 came home wearing it Angry

Will be spendy today as need to buy two new cardigans and pe t shirt for school for DD from the special supplier.
Hoping food shop will be small as we will be out and about for two meals this weekend

ememem84 · 07/07/2017 06:34

Aiming for nsd today. Dh is off to the "other island" Guernsey for a works team building thing. Looks like an awesome day for it. Have to drop him to the harbour shortly. Then am heading into work early. Eugh. But absolutely no point in me coming home again. I'll only either crawl back into bed or will get stuck in traffic.

Coppersulphate · 07/07/2017 07:13

Morning all and welcome Coffee
At a meeting all day in a big school so no chance to spend money. All food is included.
Coffee, sign up to the cash back sites like Top Cash back. And I have just changed bank to get some money....they are being useless about it though.
Meadow go for the job. You would be good at it. If you don't get it it's their loss.
Girlie, how is DDog?

HollyTheHarrier · 07/07/2017 07:16

Minimalism is definitely the way forward Creme. Good to have an incentive to get everything sorted but still, kudos! I'm working today but keeping the weekend clear for lots of sorting and planning and organising.

Happy Friday everyone

WreckTangled · 07/07/2017 07:42

Have to go food shopping today and I've got my PDR with my manager. Bleurgh. Then I've got a progress meeting with ds' key worker and tonight I'm going out to the lavender fields to watch the sunset and drink prosecco whilst listening to a live band.

WreckTangled · 07/07/2017 07:52

Found out that someone I used to hang out with a lot when I was about 18 hanged himself yesterday. So sad. His family are understandable devastated.

Cagliostro · 07/07/2017 07:57

Oh wreck that's awful :(

Mummysh0rtlegs · 07/07/2017 09:49

Managing to stay well within budget, using YNAB every day is definitely helping me keep really focused.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/07/2017 11:45

Copper Have you emailed the CEO of the new bank yet?

Wreck That's awful, it really knocks you when this happens.

SnugglySnerd · 07/07/2017 13:01

Welcome, Coffee. That must have been a huge shock. Lots of support here and not just about financial stuff.

Christmas I hear you about the cost of formula. Nappies too. We used a complete box of 98 nappies in the last 6 days!

Yesterday and today were a bit spendy but on frugal stuff except I was so disorganised and late yesterday I ended up buying a sandwich and crisps in town. Did weekly shop in Aldi which was £61.
Took stuff to charity shop earlier and got lucky they had obviously just had a massive donation ofor boy clothes aged 6 months- 2 years. All Next or Jojo and each item 99p. I bought quite a lot! Also nipped in Sainsbury's for the stuff Aldi didn't have and spent another £14 but added to Aldi shop that's about what I would usually spend on weekly shop.

Nearly the weekend!

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/07/2017 13:02

Flowers wreck

£4.50 on new hat for DD
£31 on school uniform
£35 Tesco

DP wants us to go to his school summer fair later. We may go on the basis he said he would pay for us and there is meant to be Pizza. Then taking DD to rainbows to see what it is like. This afternoon is going to be one hot car trip after another Hmm
