Flowers for wrecked. Such a shocking thing. The level of despair to get to that stage must be awful.

£170 Sainsbury's. bloody hell its expensive, although that included shorts for DD, some booze for the weekend and for a present and pizza for tonight. Also some picnic stuff as the club are racing and having nibbles afterwards. No eating out or food spends needed for the weekend.

Other spends were £16 PT session.

Sorry Wreck I missed that earlier. Hope you are OK.

WreckTangled · 07/07/2017 15:38

£45 fuel
£55 Aldi. Not sure what meals we will get. I'm too hot to think about it I could do with a nap but I'm going out tonight 😴😴

CremeEggThief · 07/07/2017 16:07

Sorry to hear that, Wreck. One of my best friends from childhood died by suicide in February and even though we hadn't been in touch since we were 17/18 (she wasn't in touch with anyone from school, as far as I know), it's tough to come to terms with. She was the first from our year group to die too.

Cagliostro · 07/07/2017 16:44

Made it to the picnic and got a taxi there and back. £13 but totally worth avoiding the buses (2 each way) especially in this heat. £22 on picnic stuff, drinks etc.

DH had the last session of his home ed club this morning. It's been running a whole school year now! So proud of how it's turned out, I don't think DH realises what a fantastic job he's done 💕

LonelyOversharer · 07/07/2017 17:03

Dropped off today as it's vat day. Still not finished. Ugh, a long night of doing sums.

£16 in lidl, then £129 on dd2 school uniform. That's just the school branded stuff too. So shirts/trousers/shoes all extra yet to get. Have ordered dd1 blazer, but pay on collection, another £23 there. But I don't have to think about it again now (except to pick up the blazers in August).

Flowers wreck how shocking.

I'm afraid we put our chickens in the bin when they go. Dp shoots them if he has to, but it upsets him terribly. So your ds was a big brave boy need (in an unpatronising way, ykwim). All the rest of the pets get buried.

Right, better go and make what we call "random pasta" for tea, then back to the sums.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/07/2017 17:36

Sat waiting for DD1 to finish her rainbows settle. It's funny when you realise you are now doing some of the things (waiting around) that your own parents used to do for you! DD2 cried silent tears and then howled when we dropped off DD1

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/07/2017 18:12

Hi all so happy it is Friday!! Been a shit week this week this week so am extra glad to have made it to the weekend Grin

The dog seems a bit better which is amazing really given we all thought he might not make it, ddad reckons he might even be allowed home in a couple of days Smile

Wreck Flowers a young lad I used to work with did the same thing and I often think about him, can't imagine how bad you must feel to get to that stage Sad

Poor chuck Need

LSD £1 on sweets for sweetie Friday.

Think wend should be nice, tomos dd has riding in the morning and there is a local village fun day in the afternoon. Sunday we are doing a bubble run for charity, did one a few months ago and loved it, so much fun!!

Dd having her clarinet lesson, she only has a few more lessons and then we will stop as from Sept she will have lessons via the school. Lots of clubs are slowly coming to an end now which is nice, will be such a treat to have my evenings back!!

WreckTangled · 07/07/2017 18:18

Lonely my dad breaks their necks Blush it's very quick for them.

HollyTheHarrier · 07/07/2017 20:22

wreck so sorry to hear of your loss. Such a touch thing to come to terms with.

coffee welcome and sorry also about your husband. You sound very calm and together but must be a real shock.

Just had an adventure trying to plug in my new washing machine. I had to pull the kick boards out from the kitchen to get the cable through. I'm the least practical person ever and so genuinely quite proud of myself for working out what to do and not panicking that I was going to break the kitchen 😳 Probably sounds ludicrous to everyone else!

ememem84 · 07/07/2017 21:24

Hello!

Not caught up but fairly good day.

Enjoying watching the crystal maze. Yay!

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/07/2017 21:56

£4 co-op.

WreckTangled · 07/07/2017 22:46

Thanks for the kind messages, I hadn't seen him in years but it's still such a horribly sad thing.

I spent tonight at lordington lavender listening to a live band and eating freshly cooked pizza (£8).

Brilliant well done need!

Yesterday was lovely and busy so I'm quite tired but glad we did it all. Ended with my oldest friend visiting and I took her out for dinner as DH was unexpectedly home so could stay with the Caglets, it was nice to have grown up time!

Need to pack for holiday and tidy the house today 😱😱😱

Coppersulphate · 08/07/2017 07:20

Wow, well done Need but totally deserved. You trained for it so good for you.
Oh Wreck that is so sad. Someone so young killing themselves. Such despair. We are so lucky not to feel such despair.
Have to buy pressies today but for the charity so will get it back.
Hope you get sorted Holly. Have you moved far...to a new area....do you have to find all the shops etc....or are you still local?

mammymammyIRL · 08/07/2017 10:08

Apparently this wine is amazing & normally €8.50! Maybe I'll pick some up - my bootcamp group & I went out last night, my online banking is telling me I spent €9.70 + €14.50 at the bar must check my purse for rest of spends!Grin our village is having a festival so massive crowd out
Saved money on taxi because I phoned dh to collect us at 2.30amGrin

Wreck it really gives you a wake up call when you hear of anything tragic happening to your peer group no matter when you saw them last Sad

Need well done on your win GrinWine

I signed up for a 5k obstacle course race on July 22nd yesterday €18

Anyone in ROI Dunnes have 20% off school uniforms on Sunday, I only need trousers for dd for next year & branded zip up top but that's only available in one drapery shop in townAngryjumper was handed down from a neighbour, doesn't look like it was ever worn, skirt can be extended with buttoned waist oh ya & she needs socks Grin

Girlie love the clubs coming to an end too, they're tired from it at this stage

Due €90 back from bootcamp cashback scheme last night but didn't get it Sad something to look forward to I guess!

Everyone posting your grocery shop spends reminds me I need to do mine today but really don't fancy it!! Grin

Creme 22 packing boxes for your entire house? You're my idol Grin think I'd fill them in my bedroom alone Grin
I'm determined to have our decluttered for Christmas 🎄 my checklist of achievements this year is like this tax return/pay off cc in full/declutter house/& run 🏃

Jolly japes in July (only if they are frugal)...!
Cagliostro · 08/07/2017 11:23

I have the declutter by Christmas aim every year Blush Blush

We are definitely getting there. For a start, our attic is now completely empty!!! So everything that needs sorting is in the rest of the house. But it's slow progress as we just fit it in when we can.

Have to say I'm pleased most clubs are finishing now, although DD's new gym/acro classes run throughout holidays. Also as DH will no longer be coaching two mornings a week we also get more time together in which to declutter!

We have a few things throughout summer though like a creative writing course run via email. DD is settling in with that which is great as it should build her confidence back up a bit but without the pressure of writing in front of other kids.

It made me think about offering a maths equivalent sometime - can I ask you fellow Frugaleers, if you wanted your kids to keep up with maths over summer, what kind of thing would you expect them to do? I need to think about how it would work as it's much less open ended than writing poetry/stories. I was thinking more investigation/project based stuff.

CremeEggThief · 08/07/2017 11:34

Mammy, I've been on a decluttering mission for 5 years since I got rid of XH, but even with 22 boxes, there's still a whole outhouse of stuff from those that can go! Just crack on with it and think of it as an ongoing thing. Some stuff you have now is useful or necessary, but might not be in a few years.

mammymammyIRL · 08/07/2017 11:41

€57.55 on lunch yesterday €6.50 approx , curry chips last night €3/4 approx and remainder on alcohol last night good fun though with new friends Grin

Creme is there any hope for me! Grin one bag gone to dgd yesterday handmedowns that won't fit dd for about two years, dgd will have them passed back by then.
Another bin bag going to charity shop on tues eve, I'm too hungover to drive there today Smile

HollyTheHarrier · 08/07/2017 11:46

copper I've moved about a mile away, so not far at all. Just need to work out the quickest route to the station 😊 I'll get sorted slowly and steadily I think. I'm not in Creme's class when it comes to unpacking efficiency 😂

need congratulations, very well deserved 😊

Lovely morning at parkrun. Ran it steadily with a friend and had a cup of tea and chat after. Probably going to do a last minute entry to a half marathon tomorrow.

£48 Ocado shop this morning. Might pop out later for some other house bits. This afternoon's task is to de-jungle the garden a bit. Just need to find where I put the extension cable...

HollyTheHarrier · 08/07/2017 11:52

cag I don't have children but I do bloody love maths 😁 What sort of ability level are you talking about? I might be way off the mark in terms of difficulty, but how about things like number patterns that arise in nature (Fibonacci numbers for example?). Or could go down the statistics route and get them to work out probabilities using things like dice. Only works for one more week but what about graphing statistics from Wimbledon? Double faults, aces, points won etc? So much fun to be had with maths 😊

HollyTheHarrier · 08/07/2017 11:54

I guess with all of the above I'm thinking they could be set a relatively open ended task with a bit of guidance at the start/along the way, and take it in whatever direction they like?

mammymammyIRL · 08/07/2017 12:00

Cag you're working top down so! I posted a pic of my bedroom here in Feb it was looking great now it's a tip again! Plus need to sort stuff in office to do tax return. My boss said I can use work pc out of hours to do it, which is great because I'll have no distractions & plenty of desk space for the paperwork

I think budgeting is a great maths lesson at any age so tasks like a small shopping list, go to shop/online to find prices of items & figure out if they've enough money or not & what change or what extra money they need

Cagliostro · 08/07/2017 12:12

Thank you those are great ideas! I agree something that they could make their own would be good. It could be a really wide age/ability range. My friend did three age bands for the writing one but gave people flexibility in what they chose (and didn't put the age on the front of the packs either so no worries about it putting kids off).

I have an appt already for an echo and a 24hr ECG. Only got referred on Tuesday morning!
