snuggly your work is about so much more than just immediate financial reward - it's your sanity, it's your pension, it's your place to meet adults, it's routine, it's your future - your dc won't always need childcare or you at home - spoken like a true working mother Grin

Mummysh0rtlegs · 29/06/2017 09:51

Morning - jumping back in again.

I have restarted using YNAB and I have been watching Dave Ramsey videos and I am determined to get my money under control. We are frittering ridiculous amounts.

Today I spent £35 on a map for DS1's bedroom wall, but that was spending some money I was owed that I had written off. We are going to put a star on every country we visit.

Coppersulphate · 29/06/2017 09:56

Snuggly, it's hard being frugal at the best of times, but with 3 little ones, it is so hard. Well done for trying. And by the sounds coming from Parliament you may be getting a decent pay rise.

SnugglySnerd · 29/06/2017 09:56

Yes you're quite right, mammy. When I went back to work last time I really enjoyed eating my lunch with another adult and without having to wipe most of it up off the floor afterwards!

SnugglySnerd · 29/06/2017 09:57

Sorry, Copper just saw your post. A pay rise? Surely not! musn't get too excited

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2017 10:10

Morning all Smile

Well done on getting as sorted at you are Creme I honestly felt like I was going to have a breakdown this time last year through moving house stress!! It took ages to get straight, can remember sitting in the corner of the living room surrounded by boxes and crying, it felt like an impossible job to sort it all out, but there is no rush, it does all come together in the end.

Am loving my sofa, so comfy!!

Spends so far today;
75p on milk to see us through till Morrisons delivery tonight
£5 towards the teachers gift collection.

The window cleaner has been so need to get £10 out for him, windows look better though.

My IBS is playing up so think will have a quiet day, got lots of admin type things to catch up on so can do that from the comfort of my lovely sofa Grin

Em your MIL is just unbelievable, makes me so grateful to my own lovely mum - she was my birth partner!! You reap what you sow and all that. I was totally unprepared for dds arrival, I didn't even have a pram Blush didn't help that I worked up till 37 weeks and dd was 3 weeks early Hmm you muddle through somehow.

Am so pissed off with the Tories voting against scrapping the public service pay freeze Angry how they can justify that in the same week of giving a way a BILLION pounds to stay in power in beyond me, so so angry!!

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2017 10:30

Grilie I can't get over that either. Surely they have given themselves a bigger pay ride in the time of that freeze. They're such donkeys.

SunnyLikeThursday · 29/06/2017 11:17

I just went and had a smear test and it hurt a lot. I was wondering while she was doing it, how on earth I managed childbirth. I suppose the answer is that the drugs were much much more effective than I realised. Gosh! pethidine and gas and air highly recommended

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/06/2017 11:27

I had my smear last week Sunny grim but necessary I guess!!

Seem to be spending money from my sofa, have paid £9.99 for dds leavers year book and £10 for some tickets to show she is in. Also have bought a radio alarm clock for dd to pick up later from Argos, she needs to start getting herself up in the mornings!! Thats £19.99 but am hoping I can find a voucher I know I have somewhere to get £10 off!!

Need to start investigating getting her a mobile phone as well....

mammymammyIRL · 29/06/2017 11:42

For those of us in the young child fog

ememem84 · 29/06/2017 13:04

I felt so sad for bil. He was obviously upset that she didn't get to be one of the first to meet nephew. She should have either not said anything or not booked her holiday. Hey ho. I get she's upset that she won't be as involved in baby boys life as my parents will be but she made a choice to leave. Not our fault.

The plan for us is to muddle through. We've been pretty good at just bumbling though life and rather successful at it so far so why stop now!!!

sunny smears are horrible. No question. But one of those necessary aspects of life. Afaik they shouldn't hurt though. Uncomfortable and weird yes. Hurt no. I'd check that out. (No medical knowledge here and I don't want to scare you but I was always told that if they hurt get things checked).

mammymammyIRL · 29/06/2017 14:44

Don't know why I read these things because they don't apply to me in ROI but if any of you are 23 almost 24 - buy a 3 year 16-25 year railcard and it's valid until you're almost 27 - according to Martin Lewis

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2017 15:47

£17 two pairs of sandals, returning tomorrow 🙄
£7 under eye orange concealer.

Built up the travel BBQ, I'll take it on holiday for nights we don't eat out. It was a cunt to put together.

Mammy Well done on the electric bills.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 29/06/2017 15:52

DS1 just threw up everywhere so now I am not going to Sainsbury to do a top up shop. Saved £20.

Cagliostro · 29/06/2017 16:29

I suppose enforced frugality is the one benefit of illness! Hope all well soon though.

£23 on 2x black shoes for a ceremony at one of their clubs. Last minute as always, thank goodness for Shoe Zone! DD is ecstatic as hers are shiny and have a little heel :o I drew the line at buying black trousers though, leggings and straight joggers will have to do. This is the problem with them not owning any school uniform :o (although their trousers would've been grey I suppose)

WreckTangled · 29/06/2017 17:31

Saw the red arrows fly over earlier. That was nice.

mammymammyIRL · 29/06/2017 18:07

€60 on a second summer camp for dd - this will include a shorts t shirt & shorts and backpack.
€x on shinguards & socks for a blitz on Saturday, I predict boots before the year is out!

Mummy hope your ds is ok - you've two ds right? Just checking with all name changes I've right person?

I second em's smears are uncomfortable but I've never had one hurt. Sunny but apparently it depends on the lay of your womb, a friend finds them excruciating & she's not at all delicate.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 29/06/2017 18:36

Mammy - yes Wilf is 4 and Gabriel coming up 2 in September. Wilf is very, very sad and requesting an abdominal xray to check on the bugs...

Mummysh0rtlegs · 29/06/2017 18:37

I find smears more painful since having kids, I have a shy cervix and my current surgery has some rather gungho nurses. I also have a friable cervix so can bleed a lot afterwards. Necessary but no fun, I am sure one day they will find a better way.

mammymammyIRL · 29/06/2017 19:03

Aww the pet!
Love his medical knowledge!!

Mummysh0rtlegs · 29/06/2017 19:17

I've told him to tell the GP that in the morning! I try to answer any questions he has as factually as possible, he recently had an xray of his finger and so knows all about them (I used to be a radiographer). He also asked what was making him sick so I explained bacteria and the immune system at 1am on the bathroom floor...

LonelyOversharer · 29/06/2017 19:43

Lost a post as my stupid, broken as I dropped it tablet shut down.

£16 in asda on a top up, dp bought me a costa as I was freeezing wore my winter boots today. In june ffs. But they're green and I love them.

Should make £16.66 back on £20 virtual money tonight, will be pleased to do away with this bookie as it's website is clunky and all in large print, like I've zoomed in on it, very annoying! But £16 free money is ok by me.

Will pop into town tomorrow for my shoes (free delivery to store) will go in and see if my new glasses are ready, it's been nearly 2 weeks.

Picked the hugest cucumber from the greenhouse, about 7cm in diameter, so delicious, like a slightly savoury melon. Had it with homemade fried chicken and chips for tea.

Have just realised I can watch Game of Thrones on the sky box set thingy. Is it worth it, I have never watched it? And Outlander starts on more 4 tonight, I'll enjoy it on the big telly when dp has gone to bed, he'll only complain

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/06/2017 19:45

Nsd today

mammymammyIRL · 29/06/2017 19:51

Lonely I debated putting on a fleece today at work - had a three quarter length sleeve top with a string top on underneath, waited until I'd had my porridge & then I was just cool but not cold if you get me.

Mummy he sounds like an intelligent little boy
