I was coming in to join the jolly nork discussion but I'm a bit lost for words now.

Loveabaconsandwich · 23/05/2017 10:41

Well done lonely on fitting into the dress Star

No pudding purchased. My treat was fresh mango and pineapple fingers. Currently drinking green tea Sad . I did buy some low calorie ice lollies as alternatives to flake ice creams which are currently my food obsession

Agree on sainsburys lonely and wreck, cannot go in there and do a small shop.

£30 Tesco

I worry about the future a lot now with all the things going on.

Laska5772 · 23/05/2017 10:49

Anyone know if the Tu sale is starting today ( attempt at normality) there was a skirt i quite liked the other day..

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/05/2017 12:11

I've just got back from there Laska it is on, have bought myself some new tops for my holiday next week. Spent £54 but got 5 new tops, 2 pairs of leggings, a new rain coat for dd, some more grass seed and fertiliser that was on offer, cat food and some baking things.

I fear the same Laska Sad just as I thought Labour were gaining ground. Just so awful, can't stop crying overtime I see the news.

Going to watch dd at Sports day this afternoon if the rain holds off....

ememem84 · 23/05/2017 12:12

It's awful isn't it.

The "all muslims are terrorists" "get THEM out" bollocks has already started on Facebook.

Its really sad.

MeadowHay · 23/05/2017 12:42

Em I've long since purged anyone from my Facebook that posted things like that. I can't be doing with people who literally threaten my existence. I am Muslim and from a mixed ethnic background, dad is an immigrant from the middle-east, in case people didn't know (hands up everyone who assumed I'm white British in their mental image of me, just because we all assume everyone is white British automatically??? lol it's so sad and even us ethnic minorities do it and we're not even white...).

Saw news this morning too and gutted me. I'm from Liverpool and moving back soon so it feels especially close to home. I went to a few concerts at that arena in Manchester as a teenager. My heart breaks for them all. Sad Sad

In better news, I think my exam this morning went quite well. I got greeted by neighbour's cat afterwards and we sat and had a nice cuddle for about twenty minutes with him loudly meowing at me and squishing himself all over me until he saw a bird and then ran off Grin.

Should be NSD. Iceland groceries coming this afternoon.

Just two more exams now...the end is in sight!

MeadowHay · 23/05/2017 12:44

Oh love, you might have already tried this, but for the last couple of years I've been using a Nivea suncream that is a spray and you spray it on. It's mainly for autistic reasons - I'm hypersensitive to touch and I find it horrible applying thick sucnreams and this is so light and absorbs so fast its the best thing I've found for me. But I do also have eczema and sensitive skin, and it's never been a problem. It goes up to at least factor 50 as that's what I've got atm. It might not work for your daughter though, everyone with eczema's skin is different and reacts to different things, but worth a try maybe if you haven't already?

ememem84 · 23/05/2017 13:07

meadow yep. Hand is up re the assumption. But you're right because we all just assume everyone is "just like me"

when The Brexit vote happened a friend of mine posted about how he was glad all the "immigrants" would now leave. I pointed out his girlfriend is polish. She's ok though because she works. And he knows her.

He also suggested all muslims should "go home" a Muslim friend of ours commented that he was home. He lives in South Kensington and where exactly should he "go home" to?

Same friend who after the 7/7 London bombings said no one would go near him on the tube (but the upshot of this was that he always got a seat.:.!)

£18 at the market on fruit and veg. Yay. I forgot how nice it was to buy from market. Picking out which avo and tomatoes I wanted. Yay!! 🍉🍌🍒🥝🍍🥒🍆🍅🌶🍠🥕🌽🥑🍈🍓🍇🥔And I'm finally over my aversion to fresh coffee. Went to local coffee place and bought a bag of decaf for my french press £3.15 for 400g Yay!!!!!

LonelyOversharer · 23/05/2017 13:17

Luckily I have few fb friends, so never get much of the racist bollocks. I have hidden posts from one 'friend' recently, as she was putting up very political statements x6 every day. I'm very much of the opinion that I don't want people to push views down my throat, or proclaim that I am not a decent human if I don't agree with them. I'll make my own mind up, thanks.

Had the radio on getting dp some lunch, radio 2! Even 10 minutes was making me feel so sad about what's been done.

meadow glad the exam was ok, 2 more to go, horay!! Do you have another year to go, or is this it?

I have no pre-conceived ideas about any of us, I think it's because we're all so different, at different stages of our lives that we can all add so well to this thread. You probably couldn't put a more different group together irl!

My dress is sorted, and I'm actually happy with it! Got the hidden zip in first time too. Just the hem to do tomorrow. Have decided to leave it as long as possible, my knees are just too old and let the side down rather!

May we continue our furious frugaleering into June : )
Mummysh0rtlegs · 23/05/2017 13:40

Marking place, no hope of catching up again.

Laska5772 · 23/05/2017 14:01

meadow i wouldnt have particually knownby ypur posts but as I am much older than lots on MN( its so much more fun than Gransnet.) i just assume everyone is different to me ..
also fortunate to have have lived in for 15yrs and gone to uni as a mature student in Brighton.. (and you dont get much more of a diverse place than that!)
I admit lil'ol' Isle of Wight was a bit of a culture shock (98% white british and nimbyism here does often make me often want to go back( but iow does have compensations.cheaper houses and wonderful countrysideand beach)
Girlie i bought my skirt another bra ehic fits and some shorts inTu at lunchtime all for less than the bra i took back to m&s Smile!!

Laska5772 · 23/05/2017 14:03

Lonely that dress is gorgeous.. i wish i was so nifty with my sewing machine.
( sewing course is high on retirement plan list)

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/05/2017 14:32

Meadow Yes I had you in my head in a particular way. I know someone who is a high achieving doctor's daughter and I had just sort of matched you up with everything I know about that friend. Listening to what you say, I just keep feeling how brilliant it is that you will be a lawyer. There are so many groups that you will be uniquely placed to represent and they need you so much. You're going to be very much appreciated by a lot of people, I'm sure.

needastrongone · 23/05/2017 15:11

Some words from someone I never thought I'd quote with approval...

We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom. So many young beautiful, innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers in life. I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that’s a great name. I will call them, from now on, losers, because that’s what they are. They are losers. And we will have more of them. But they are losers, just remember that.

Donald Trump.

needastrongone · 23/05/2017 15:14

Your dress is super Lonely.

I think we all have pictures in our head of each other, they are probably very far from the truth.

Spends.
$34 physio.
$64 Sainsbo's.

Life I have 10 packets of lego things for you as a lady gave me hers as well as mine I'll pm you and send to you. X

mammymammyIRL · 23/05/2017 15:14

Woo hoo - haven't logged in on my work pc in a while and had to remember my password, I got there on my 3rd attempt!

What's bra intervention? I'm wearing debenhams size 36B. However this bra was the only bra that fit me on the day, so I ordered it in black and bought the nude on the day. other styles in 36B didn't fit at all.

There are no words for what happened in Manchester, it's one thing to kill someone who you actually have a grievance against, not condoning it btw, but innocent teenagers Shock

Work is super quiet today, and looks like it'll continue that way for the rest of the week too, strange because our business is weather dependent and weather is perfect atm.

Discussion at lunchtime on heating systems and I've been inspired to perhaps fit an immersion to our existing woodpellet and solar panel heating system in order to save money on woodpellets.

lonely that dress is fabulous, great result on your weigh in too btw

Rant alert I was in Penneys yesterday and browsing the tshirt section. Most sizes available were 4/6/8 - when did this become normal. I'm a size 10/12 on top but buy 12 there to allow for shrinkage and felt I was considered large at that! Weren't asos slammed recently for having a size 10/12 as large for a particular top?

laska I have a sewing machine that I can't use! Need to get a course done next winter. I bought the machine about 7/8 years ago.

loveabaconsandwich I'm currently a 12 too, sometimes 10 on top. Weighing in at 11st 13.5lbs currently, it really gets on my nerves as I'm doing everything right to lose weight AngryConfused

Ultra sun family is excellent and made for ultra sensitive skin and you only apply once.

mammymammyIRL · 23/05/2017 15:16

em while I admire your purging of your wardrobe, if you love those clothes, remember you will most likely fit into them again post pregnancy Smile this is from seeing your physique in your pics so far, you look like a bouncer-backer!!

northender · 23/05/2017 15:21

Thanks for the new thread. Posting quickly from work. The Manchester attack was just dreadful. It close to us & the DC both knew people at the concert all of whom are okay except one. Dds friend's mum has shrapnel in her leg which is being removed tomorrow. The two named victims so far are local (within 12 miles of us) so it hits home more than usual.
I sent the DC off to school this morning with an extra tight hug and told them to look out for their Muslim friends (dd's best friend is Muslim) as I fear they will be on the receiving end of abuse over the weeks & months ahead. Sad and scary times.

needastrongone · 23/05/2017 15:31

I thought you might be close North, one of the guys from the running clubs daughter was there too, they are very shocked but safe.

Coppersulphate · 23/05/2017 15:33

Meadow, my hand is up. I didn't and don't have mental pics of anyone but from your posts I would have thought " like me".
I am older, retired, very short hair. But I think I am aged 9 on the inside.
Just heard one of the victims was an 8 year old girl.... same as DGD. I have been to concerts at that area and my DS and DSiL go frequently.
Yes, they are losers but they are still bastards.
LSD bought some stuff for DS in shop.... including the Liverpool football club magazine which he pretends is for his 5 year old.

ememem84 · 23/05/2017 15:39

mammy I know I'll probably with a bit of gym effort and good luck get back into things but you know..."mummy might need new clothes!" I'm not totally ditching everything. I've kept the nice smart work stuff. I spent a fair bit on lovely smart dresses and skirts etc from ted baker/jaeger/warehouse. It'll be the more casual side of business casual which will go.

mammymammyIRL · 23/05/2017 15:45

Definitely em mummy will definitely deserve a few bits to praise herself for a job well done Grin

north lovely sensible advice to your dc, none of us are immune from these happenings because they're so random.

Forgot to say, lovely dress Lonely. I do not know how you find the time.
I don't see all that stuff because I am not on Facebook.

MeadowHay · 23/05/2017 15:57

Em Could you post a picture of that skirt you're getting rid of? (Or anything else as I like clothes...Blush ) I'm a size 8-10 and might be interested in it, depends how orangey it is as I don't mind coral but proper orange I don't like (no idea why!). Blush

You are all lovely ladies.

It galls me to agree with something Trump has said!

Sunny That is so sweet, thank you!

To whoever last, this is my final year. From Friday afternoon I will have finished my degree Shock (resits pending, but never had to resit anything before so don't think I will need to this time either).

Lonely I love the dress! It must be so nice to make yourself a dress.
