Cag Definitely the case that you need to really develop a thick skin and self belief to be self employed, but I am convinced you are able to do both.

I have had a terribly spendy day. But fun. I haven't shopped for a long time, and I am going to spend a bit each month from now on, to prevent splurges like this.

£28 French Connection, navy sleeveless shirt.
£75 Jack Wills, cable knit jumper and cable knit cardigan. Classic styles that will last.
£100 Moda in Pelle, sandals and shoes (sandals cheap, shoes expensive)
£18 Primark, top and 2 sets of PJs.
£48 Office, pink wedged suede sandals that are totally impractical, not needed and wonderful Smile
£40 Birkenstocks.

Ouch, so hardly any clothes and 4 pairs of shoes Smile

AdoraBell · 08/07/2016 20:15

NSDs all week.

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 20:16

Ah thank you need :) :)

Wreck you are totally right there - I was good, and made pasta with a really nice but easy sauce (tinned toms, frozen onion, garlic, celery, red pepper, chorizo and peas) yum.

I do usually regret the takeaway TBH. I decided a while ago that I would try and avoid them and if I really really wanted something easy, I'd rather go out - just somewhere cheap and cheerful like the carvery or the Pizza Hut lunch buffet - it ends up only a little more expensive, but a much nicer meal with veggies drinks and pudding and a change of scene.

But today I was also inspired by the fact we are on track for our third NSD this month, which for only the 8th is unheard of! Halo

ipsogenix · 08/07/2016 20:45

Cag I'm pretty highly strung just now too. I'm not sure that the referendum is really good for the sangfroid. I tried swapping the referendum news feed for "Come outside" on youtube today, and it was distinct improvement.

Em excellent idea about bacon and eggs. I will try that tomorrow too.

Well done Cankles Smile

Well done Badders too. That's great!

That's a hilarious day of shopping Need. Glad you enjoyed it. I love that you bought things in Jack Wills and Primark on the same day.

I've had a very cheap week, but totally knackered from referendum stuff and proud mum events at school. I could do with being left out to dry now. I'm considering entering total denial about the EU vote result. It's the only way I think, at least until someone decides whether we're actually leaving.

ds had a nice playdate with a girl today. It was good and they both looked very happy. Yay!

babsmam · 08/07/2016 20:59

Long day at work trying to make some time back.£2 beavers, £1 in card factory, £9 morrisons.

Good news about the house cankle.
Cag, you will be fine and yy to well shot of naughty kids and parents. My judgypants would have been hoiked too.
Fluffy I agree mittens for pissing. Sounds totally reasonable.
Well done bladders.
Hope the hangover is gone em.

This weekend need oil for my car which is probably £25, food shopping £100 ish, £44 football, need to pay for door £530 and sofa £578 both big ones on cc for August pay.

Star2015 · 08/07/2016 21:44

Need I don't feel so bad now seeing your shopping list!! Grin

Star2015 · 08/07/2016 21:46

Adora well done you... I aspire to NSD's all week!

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 21:57

Have spent the evening watching tv. At home. On my own. It's been great.

I'm now snuggled up in the spare room. Dh is out drinking with his work. We have one workable bathroom (our en suite shower room). Because he's so noisy when he comes home I've banished myself.

Thank you!
Need to keep £20 back for my hair at end of month and take £20/30 on hols next week
Very grey and wet here Sad
Dh back today!!!!

Ememem84 · 09/07/2016 08:05

Something strange has happened here in jersey. The sky is blue no clouds and the sun is out. 27 degrees today apparently! Yippee!! This hasn't happened for a while.

We may take the BBQ down to the beach this evening might ask Dh to catch some mackerels. And we can watch the sun go down.

£25 today riding. Then maybe £15 on BBQ things. Need to check we have coals.

GrinGrin. You do make some very dry comments Ipsos, the Come Outside one had me snorting tea! Glad your DS had a nice play date.

Star That's the problem, I haven't bought myself anything major for months and months, I didn't space it out for myself or for the DC, and I feel I now have to spend a fortune, I don't think I would have noticed one item a month iyswim? Smile

Pretty grey here too today Badders.

Having reviewed my holiday wardrobe, I know feel I can get away with a couple more camisole type tops, and maybe a paid of shorts that are not denim.

Today I could be very lazy, but I intend not to be. Here is the list of things I wish to accomplish this weekend.

  • sort out my side of walk in wardrobe and Ebay.
  • finish off clearing out the study, just need to Ebay some of DS's unmodeled models!
  • Pop to Aldi and M&S, the latter does a super flavoured gin for £14 that is just the ticket for 2 birthdays coming up, as it comes in a lovely bottle too.
  • Passport photos for the DC, for bus passes.
  • Menu plan.
  • Get DC to sort out holiday wardrobe and tell me what they need, this may need active participation from me!
  • bring finances back up to date.
Ememem84 · 09/07/2016 09:13

Bacon and egg rolls went down a treat. Also served strong sugary tea, a rehydration tables and a multi vitamin. Dh is still feeling ropey. But hopefully it'll all kick in in a bit

A whole week of NSDs is amazing Adora, have never managed that!
Haircut today but no other spends planned.
I am exhausted, like a deep tiredness that won't lift. I was asleep by 9.30 last night. Think the last few busy weeks at work have caught up with me.

WreckTangled · 09/07/2016 09:35

£48 lidl but need to go to tesco still as they didn't have lots of things

£34.86 filling up the petrol tank

Going to a 5k run this morning (watching!) which has a cake sale. Will take £5.

Badders123 · 09/07/2016 09:49

Dh not be like til 7pm
Ds2 here with me
Ds1 at pils til after lunch
Sigh
What am I going to go all day!?

babsmam · 09/07/2016 10:48

£51 halfords, £78 sainsburys

It's raining again.

babsmam · 09/07/2016 11:27

£578 on two new sofas on the cc so don't need to pay until august

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/07/2016 11:44

Think I've spent about £10 of my own money today. Dh gives me £40 towards food and I top up the rest.

I bought Iceland extra mature cheddar instead of Aldi. It's £3 for two 450g blocks & really nice.

Dn commented on our cheese bring nice Grin

We had the quote in for tiling the kitchen-diner, hallway, utility, downstairs loo & the kitchen splashback. £1000. Dn is doing a plan of how the floor tiles will look when their on the floor. He reckons I've bought too many Blush

Badders I'm nw leics too. It'll rain all week because Dh is off.

ipsogenix · 09/07/2016 12:07

need I'm glad you enjoyed the Come Outside joke. I wish all of tv was like Come Outside. Life would be so much easier. It's good to know that my humour is dry btw. That explains a lot about why people look at me the way they do in RL. Smile

We'll also be blowing two months money on clothes soon as dh's entire sets of clothes is about to give up the ghost. It's tricky because they no longer make the clothes he likes (burgundy and navy blue shirts 90s-style), so style choices will have to be made. (Eeeep!)

Wreck I love that you are going to watch a race. That's the way to live.

Fluffy your house is going to look amazing! I'm looking forward to it for you now, just from knowing how happy it has made me to have a nice hall. Smile

I'm still sitting at home spending no money, but also avoiding politics now because that level of excitement/stress is just unsustainable. Dh is on tenterhooks to know whether his residency application will be accepted and when the reply will come.

WreckTangled · 09/07/2016 12:09

My step mum bought the dc cake so I didn't spend my £5

Badders123 · 09/07/2016 12:12

It'll also rain because it's ds2s sports day so that'll be cancelled
Soooo bored!
Had a bath
Done 2 loads of washing
Made beds
Breakfast dishes
Sigh

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/07/2016 12:16

Where is your Dh from ipsos? I'm saving for the tiler, think it'll be Christmas time when I can afford him.

Frozen a tub of cream in an ice cube tray, it was 4 days over date but tastes fine. Each cube is roughly a tablespoon.

Ememem84 · 09/07/2016 13:50

Just stopped at the shop on the way back from the stables for milk and cold drinks. Lovely ginger beer. Yum. And a naughty packet of twiglets. £5 ish

Latticed home to find that Dh has moved from bed to couch but still looks and apparently feels awful. Absolutely no sympathy.

Place marking!

Spent more than I would have liked on holiday and dh is going to have to start commuting from December costing us an extra £3-4K a year. Gah.

ipsogenix · 09/07/2016 14:38

He's from the Republic of Ireland Fluffy. He did the epic residency form just before the vote, but has been living here longer than in Ireland, he just hadn't done it before. I've been outside Scotland longer than in it now too. Not quite sure where I'm from now. :-)
