I'm on a night shift tonight at enhanced rate. Yay.

I've been paid today for two shifts I did last week. I've put some of the money into my car tax fund ready for the end of the month and piggybanked some into a separate account which now has £33.03. I think I'm going to check my credit card statement and pay some off that.

I really need to start snowballing the credit card where I can.

I need to phone up the team I have a job within and discuss hours and what not. Arrange childcare for next week. Hoping afterschool club have space.

ipsogenix · 08/07/2016 11:40

Thanks need. You've hit the nail on the head there. We were there in the building, and the extra-nice thing is that we know now that the headmistress understands our situation and realises how huge it was that we were both there. Smile

It's very odd isn't it Unescorted? I keep wondering if we ought to go "home", but it's a bit tricky with me and dh coming from different countries and ds being born and brought up in a third country. Which home would we go to?

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 13:07

Ipso I had no idea you were from a different country. :)

Oh dear well I found out that the little group I took for a maths taster session have in fact gone to another friend who has started doing maths. Totally different approach aimed at younger kids so it's for the best. Doubly for the best since they were astoundingly badly behaved (this was the first taster session last month, I think I mentioned it here at the time) and having seen them at another activity this week I can see it was not a one off (the younger ones were allowed to run riot in a place where it was not only disruptive for the people who had paid to be there, but actually really bloody dangerous as well - parents did NOTHING, yes I was hoiking my judgypants!). So it is ok. But I feel kind of weird as well. The other teacher is a good friend and I am happy that she has business too obviously - I just really hate the idea that those other mums might say I'm a crap teacher, or that I don't have the right set up (friend has a purpose built Montessori classroom!) or that it was my fault in some way that their kids weren't engaged. Because actually all my other classes are going really well!

ipsogenix · 08/07/2016 13:27

Cag LOL! I sort of am and sort of am not. I'm Scottish, dh is from Rep of Ireland and ds was born in England. I'm keeping all our nationalities in mind as the possibility of EU exit and IndyRef2 plays out. I like multi-cultural places best as no one is In or Out in those.

ipsogenix · 08/07/2016 13:39

Sorry to hear about your maths class. It sounds as though maybe you and the kids were just not a good fit. Hopefully it will free up your time to work with groups that are a better fit.

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 13:42

Thank Ipso yep I have two groups already that are going really well so it's not like I'm left with nothing. I don't know I'm just sad to feel unappreciated by those people I guess. And I hate anything like confrontation or competition so I don't want it to be awkward between me and my friend.

ipsogenix · 08/07/2016 13:51

Yes I know what you mean. It's hard to put yourself out there and not have your work appreciated.

On the plus side, it's probably good to have it happen as a clean break rather than have them feel they have to keep coming when it's not really working. Also now that you have that slot free, the pupils that you get on with can recommend you to friends and you will have time to take those people on.

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 13:55

Thank you Thanks I think my anxiety has been pretty bad lately anyway so I'm a bit of a wreck, and it's affecting me more than it should. Need to develop a thicker skin if I'm to survive this self employment lark!

Ememem84 · 08/07/2016 14:27

Survived work!!! Now for tattoo finishing. Have eaten so much junk today. Sigh. Gym on Monday. Need to get back into it.

Spends £2.75 on donuts for mum and dad and two Portuguese rolls for breakfast tomorrow. Dh is out tonight so he'll need bacon and egg butties in the morning #bestwife

Oh. And £2 on two tubs of vanish oxyaction stuff in the pound shop.

Cag your business will grow in its own time. Sounds like you would have been left in a more awkward position if you were having to manage those particular children - it could be a blessing in disguise!

Spends yesterday: £9.50 jumper and book bag; £4.68 breakfast things for dhⅆ £5.68 emergency milk and chocolate supplies for me!; £2.69 kindle book (poisonwood bible); £51.45 petrol.

Spends today: £20.25 in sainsburys (really need to do a proper shop but cba!! did however get some half price sandals for DD for a christening we're going to on Sunday); £1.75 drinks from the cafe.

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 16:49

Thanks Ursula yes definitely seeing the positives - it was unbelievably stressful having them here - a shame, because I could see the older ones did actually have enthusiasm for what we were doing or would've been doing if the younger ones weren't nicking all the resources - and now that I have seen that it's not a one off, I am really glad I don't have to deal with that! DD is really happy as well - she was really upset by all the noise when they were here.

I have spent my afternoon shredding bank statements that go back as far as 2007.

CremeEggThief · 08/07/2016 16:57

£1.45 on a pizza slice from Greggs.

Star2015 · 08/07/2016 17:27

I have a confession to make.... I spent £77 in white stuff today on 3 tops Blush

Meant to be on a spending amnesty and I blew it when I saw they had a sale on...

Going to ponder the tops on the weekend then decide whether to keep them or take them back.

Also spent £3 on 30 roses as the flower man sells them off on a Friday afternoon. My moms at the hospital this afternoon so I'll give 20 to her at some point this weekend.

Have a good one everyone!

Canklesofglitter · 08/07/2016 17:28

After much tooing and froing today we got the house. We had to raise our offer but they have included some things that will help in the short term.

So today has been a rather spendy day :-)

Tryingtosaveup · 08/07/2016 17:43

Cag, you have only been establishing yourself as self employed for a matter of weeks. You got some lovely piano pupils and some maths classes. Brilliant result....not good....brilliant. You started from scratch,
And the last thing you want is misbehaving kids with thoughtless parents. Lucky escape, I'd say.
Spend your here today. Friend coming to stay so went out and bought food for evening meal and petrol. £62.
Still my savings pot isn't looking too bad.
Cankles, it's bound to be spend your if you've bought a house. Congrats. When are you moving?

Badders123 · 08/07/2016 18:26

Unless something goes horribly wrong I look like I might manage to end up in the blank at the end of the month for the first time in years
Shock

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 18:32

Thanks trying yes it is definitely going well overall :) very well considering! I must stick with the positive outlook! :)

Off to do more shredding (it's only a small machine so have to rest it frequently to avoid overheating)

Cagliostro · 08/07/2016 18:50

Somebody convince me I don't need to order a pizza!

WreckTangled · 08/07/2016 19:03

You'll only be disappointed with it Cag and wish you hadn't wasted the money on something so rubbish and unhealthy
mmmm pizza

AuditAngel · 08/07/2016 19:11

NSD yay.

I think I am going to have to see a podiatrist. I have a long term callous on my 4th toes where my little toe pushes on it. I have had it for years, but it has flailed up and is really painful.

I have worn some standard fit shoes rather than wide ones. I can't think of any other reason for it to play up.

Am going yo return DD2's Clark's shoes tomorrow. I may see if they gave some wide black shoes. Serves me IHT for buying std fit in the sale rather than wide ones !

SnugglySnerd · 08/07/2016 19:13

NSD today but spent £20 on dinner and drinks last night. I've eaten out a lot lately, lots of end of term leaving meals etc.
Going to catch up on the thread now.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/07/2016 19:21

Audit I'm a pod, is it inbetween the toes?

£3 co-op for beer, soya milk and a pouch of Sheba to say sorry to the cat for being out so long.

He still pissed on the dining chair when I got in so I'm going to make him into a pair of mittens. Harsh, but fair in the circumstances.

Star2015 · 08/07/2016 19:43

We've just been to do our weekly shop in Lidl, wasn't sure if they would have much left or with decent dates but it was ok. £59.74 so quite a spend my day today with my £77 white stuff purchases Blush
