I very nearly ordered some pigs in blankets from Tesco. I get them sometimes, they're £2.50 for 10 I think (fresh not frozen, and gluten free which is hard to find in a sausage!). I once got a bemused comment from the delivery guy, but I sternly told him that pigs in blankets are for life, not just for Christmas! :o

ursula I am all for nsd Mondays. We already do "no contact" Monday's here. Or we did when we had a bathroom with a bath.

No one is allowed to call, any texts get answered on Tuesday. I have a bath do eyebrows/face mask/tan/ read book etc. Dh plays Xbox. We go to bed and don't speak to each other after dinner is finished. Alone time. But in the same house. Together.

Adora, ouch for big toe. Fluffy's prescription sounds good to me and it clearly works.
NSD on Monday 's sounds good to me.
Cag, what are the 2 for 1 train tickets ? How do you get them?

needastrongone · 04/07/2016 20:46

Ursula I do have the tray bake recipe, I will post when I make it this week, which sounds like a strange thing to say, but I sort of need to cook it again to remember it Smile

DD has had a great House Awards night, but at 15, they get terribly cynical about such things. They see through token award ceremonies.

Sierra259 · 04/07/2016 21:27

Thanks Em, will give it a go.

ipsogenix · 05/07/2016 00:07

My low spending habit is still going well. Definitely being glued to the news is good for cheap living. Not so good for the nervous system I suspect. Smile

WreckTangled · 05/07/2016 06:20

Should be nsd. Might get petrol. Ds has his first ever sports day today Smile (pre school). I'm going to work until 10 though.

One of the school mums is coming spinning with me tonight (one of the ones I was sure hated me) she's a runner and super fit though!

My account was overdrawn this morning which is annoying had to borrow £16 from dd.

Ememem84 · 05/07/2016 06:56

Paid off a chunk of credit card this morning. Yay.

And will be going to the shop to buy a new washing machine this evening. I have £340 worth of vouchers for the coop so will use those.

I think our coop works differently to yours. We join up, get a share account number. Every time we shop we give the number and you get a dividend back once a year based on how much you've spent. You also get stamps twice a week if you shop in the right days which can be paid into your account. If you make a withdrawal from the account as vouchers you get an extra 15% on top.

Coop also sells household things like washing machines. So this comes in handy. Occasionally.

Sierra259 · 05/07/2016 07:18

Your coop sounds much better! We used to get money off vouchers, based on how much you'd spent. Now it's "save £1 if you spend £10" vouchers - annoying as I only really use it for top ups, and rarely spend £10 in one go. Although I have won the odd£1 off in the till prize draw.

Hello Grin

I did an extra night shift on Sunday. When I got home yesterday morning (Monday) I fell asleep for about an hour until a nurse came round. I was surprised as I'd arranged to go to a clinic. Anyhow that's all sorted.

I then spent the next 4/5 hours sorting some work related issues out. I've been trying to book shifts to be told they aren't there. They are and I've spoken to the hospital wards direct but the office who deals with booking extra shifts are being very rude. I'm not sure if I can tolerate them much longer to be honest. I may end up complaining to their manager. Ill phone up today and try to sort these issues.

I finally settled at 5pm... And slept all the way until 7am this morning oops.

I've a few things I need to do today.

  • cancel my CBT appt tomorrow as it's sons sports day and shall rearrange this.
  • Organise childcare for tomorrow afternoon as my interview is at 2.30pm. School pick up is 3.00pm.
  • Organise a file together for my interview. Brush up on questions they may ask etc.
  • Pick up two birthday cards for my niece.
  • Go for a clinic appointment at a random time. Sit and wait kind of thing.

I'm sure there's more I've just forgot.

Yesterday was a NSD. Today should be a LSD.

Badders123 · 05/07/2016 07:34

Planning on buying ds1 more new socks today
Also taking him to macdonalds for lunch - I hate the place so it means I spend less as I don't eat!! Smile
Turns out we don't need that much uniform after all - ds1 is still too small for the next size up so his current ones will have to do
Got a £25 voucher for next to get ds2s trousers with
Any recommendations of somewhere to get a good - not expensive - winter coat for ds1?
His current parka has lasted 3 years!! Smile

Canklesofglitter · 05/07/2016 09:40

We've had fab winter coats for DS from Sainsburys Badders. They will probably do a 25% off weekend soon and they often do double up nectar points offers in the Autumn if you have any of those.

DontLet you may find that the office are allocating those shifts to their favourites. It's a known frustration with staff banks. What's the interview for? Can I help with questions (ex NHS Manager here)? Good luck anyway.

Expecting an NSD today. Will do a big Aldi shop tomorrow. A frugal find from last week's Aldi shop - the lookalike magnum style chocolate brownie ice creams are delicious and you get three for less than the cost of one proper Magnum. DH and I think they are better than the "real" thing!

SnugglySnerd · 05/07/2016 09:53

£58 this morning on weekly shop. Having a housework morning buy I need a sit down so having a coffee break. Our local shop has those magic sponges for £1 so might pop out and stock up. Pub for dinner tonight with friends.
Meal plan for the rest of the the week is:
Pasta with roasted tomato and garlic sauce tomorrow.
Thurs - work meal out, DH is making curry for himself and DD.
Fri - sweet & sour veg with egg fried rice
Sat - roasted veg & halloumi with cous cous and harissa
Sun - Quorn and leek pie with veg
Mon - pasta with leftover roasted veg.
Also going to make soup and banana loaf to use up some bits.

Badders123 · 05/07/2016 10:03

Oh right, will try there
Sis has just text me - she is taking ds out did lunch Smile

CremeEggThief · 05/07/2016 10:35

Badders, try Mountain Warehouse or similar, as their kids' stuff is often on sale. You can quite easily get a proper waterproof and wind proof coat for £20 or £25.

Badders123 · 05/07/2016 11:46

His current one is a parka from John Lewis - we bought a larger size than needed and its dive him 3 years!!
I've looked online but they dont seem to do it anymore Sad
Just about to go to work then back home to watch some tennis of there is any play!

AdoraBell · 05/07/2016 11:46

I'm in for the No Spend Monday, I already to make 1st and last of the month an NSD, and I have a midweek delivery pass on Sainsbo's. Speaking of which, £76.61.

I am resting as much as I can snuggly, thanks, and using a combo of ibuprofen with a bit of paracetamol too. I haven't seen fluffys* advice, will check back now.

AdoraBell · 05/07/2016 11:50

Grin fluffy

SnugglySnerd · 05/07/2016 12:22

I'm up for NSD Monday too, great idea!

CremeEggThief · 05/07/2016 13:41

I can't commit to an NSD Monday, as I often need to pay for a bus fare back from Pilates and/or pick up milk. I quite often manage a couple of mid-week NSD. In fact, today is oneSmile.

WreckTangled · 05/07/2016 13:49

Nsd success so far. Ds was so sweet in his sports day.

CarbyBarbie · 05/07/2016 14:05

Yesterday;
£29 in Lidl got loads also stocked up on ice cream syrup wafers and cones they had on offer i've hid them away for the summer holidays. £6.30 for dinner money i've convinced dc to only have dinners on a friday as it's school spotty bag day. im fed up of paying for dinners when they just pick a wrap or a pasta pot i can make them much cheaper.

Today;
£4.10 for birthday cards. £2.00 euro ticket .

I'm trying to keep as much cash as i can, my friend works in asda and shesaid theres a sale on clothes on friday, hopefully get dc kitted out for summer.

Badders123 · 05/07/2016 14:18

I need to keep some cash back too for our hols
I want to draw some cash out and take that
And when its gone it's gone

DontLetMeLetYouGo · 05/07/2016 14:27

Cankles it's for a community nurse post. I did previously have an offer but that got revoked due to issues with ward manager. Happy to discuss via pm and talk through questions. So really I've had the interview before but I've forgotten what they asked. I have a general idea but you never know. I currently do bench shifts in community and for team I'd like a permanent post.

Today I've spent:
£1.69 on 2x birthday cards
£1.37 for postage.

I'm organising a hen do for my future SIL for in two weeks time. It's all been left last minute and I'm finding it stressful. I need to remain calm.

I've finally booked other shifts to do for next couple weeks. I've arranged childcare for my son.

Tonight I shall re go through my portfolio. And prep myself.

I'm off to pick DS up from school after and meeting an old family friend in park with her dog. I'm quite looking forward to it and a good catch up.

WreckTangled · 05/07/2016 14:41

Our head practice nurse used to be a DN. She's been with us for four years now and has just been made a partner. I love all of our nurses and all the DN's
