Sainsburys do kilner jar promotions too. Jerseys going to be limited on shops though.

Screw top lid jars would be easier to source and there's no rubber seal to degrade.

£4 cheesecake for family coming over later.
£8 on a drill bit. In the grand tradition of DIY we didn't have the right size bit. Despite having three hundred drill bits.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/07/2016 13:24

Complicated but worth it if you need nappies

I covet kilner jars too. Stuff like couscous and lentils just look so dull and unappealing when they're in scrunched up packets with rubber bands, don't they? Hmm, that's quite a first world problem there isn't it. Hmm :o

I've not really made any plans for summer TBH - as here it's just business as usual :o apart from the fact that most of their regular activities are term time only. We tend to do the day trip type stuff in term time so it's quieter, plus I really struggle with pain/dizziness when it's really hot so prefer to be nearer home. We don't particularly stick to term times but will probably focus more on art/craft, cooking etc. Not sure yet if people want to do maths/piano during the summer, need to sort that out.

Ememem84 · 03/07/2016 14:02

cag yep. We have a few jars. But not nearly enough. I want one for each different type of pasta. Flour sugar etc.

This is my kitchen dream.
I want lovely jars for my new bathroom too. For cotton buds, cotton wool pads, bath salts etc.

Maybe there'll be another boot sale next weekend. And maybe it'll be sunny.

Hmm so I went to Boots and they said their Beauty Must Haves offer is only online, but online it looks like it's not being added to my basket. Any ideas, anyone?

Cagliostro · 03/07/2016 14:12

This is my kitchen dream.

What, with Jamie Oliver in it? Confused

:o

No clue, Adora - is it something that can only be added once you've got enough spend in your basket? Or maybe it'd come up after you start the checkout process. Mind you, it's a bit risky doing that. I ordered a Christmas present the other day, it was a small company and the voucher code went through, but the amount didn't change. I thought it would during checkout but it didn't. (Thankfully once I emailed them they just did a paypal refund of the voucher amount, so that all worked well.)

AdoraBell · 03/07/2016 14:16

Defo not the amount, and there isn't a code. I'm only buy it from Boots to get the freebie tbh, I could get sunblock etc from Sainsbo's. I'll continue and see what happens.

I also want an array of Kilner jars with James Martin Grin

CremeEggThief · 03/07/2016 14:28

NSD. I'm a bit annoyed, as the fence screening I had put up by the guys who cut the grass recently fell down in yesterday's strong wind. I've managed to put it back up,for now, by tying it to garden string and to the wire fence, which the guys hadn't done. They'd fixed all the screening together and tied it to the wire fence at the ends, but nowhere down the middle. Hmm...

babsmam · 03/07/2016 14:37

thats annoying creme

Trying to decide on a memorial photo of ddog - its so hard - im down to a shortlist of five..dashed photogenic dog. we are doing a photo book but this is for the wall. All not budgeted for so will have to chose wisely.

CarbyBarbie · 03/07/2016 15:50

Can i join Blush realy feeling the pinch at the minute. Had a couple of weeks off work with poorly ds an can't seem to get back on track.

I seem to fritter money away if i pop to the shop.

Nsd today :)

babsmam · 03/07/2016 16:02

hi carby and welcome

WreckTangled · 03/07/2016 16:27

I'm making tomato and mozzarella pasta for dinner.

Someone asked me for my stuffed pepper recipe the other day. It wasn't my best effort so I'm not going to share it Grin

Cagliostro · 03/07/2016 16:53

Ah shame! I like a stuffed pepper. Don't make them myself though as have zero chance of getting DS to eat it. He is a fussy wotsit. DD isn't so bad, she complains a lot but does actually eat a reasonable range of food.

I actually did the 'you do realise there are starving children in the world' line with DD the other day. Blush She huffed and puffed about how there was absolutely NOTHING to eat for dinner. She was shocked when I told her how we are actually really lucky. And she ended up really liking the dinner I did that night - frozen microwave brown rice, frozen microwave veg, tinned tuna and grated cheese on top. So that actually worked out quite well.

And I just broke the news that we're having jacket potato for dinner and rather than her usual 'but I don't liiiiike it' she just said 'oh'. Which is an improvement in my book.

Wish DS would eat more though. Totally stuck in a rut with him.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2016 16:54

And after all that I forgot to say welcome Carby! Love the name :o

WreckTangled · 03/07/2016 17:05

Welcome carby. Cag you can stuff a pepper with anything! That rice dish you did dd or a bolognese mix, couscous and feta mmm

AdoraBell · 03/07/2016 17:51

One advantage of living in Latin America is that DDs have known people who can't afford food as well medicine for the children, doesn't stop them having teenaged strops, mind, but they do have a deeper appreciation.

So , bought the stuff on Boots, £55, and have emailed to ask them to confirm my freebie , plus £2.30 in the bakers. am currently whitting down this week's supermarket order.

Welcome Carby, fab name Grin

Creme that is annoying.

Cagliostro · 03/07/2016 17:52

Aah that sounds tasty. DS wouldn't entertain the pepper itself sadly :o

Jacket potato was wolfed down by both, DD said 'actually I do like jacket potato, just not too often' well ok then :o

Ugh really should be tidying up but can't seem to shift myself off the sofa! Blush

Cagliostro · 03/07/2016 17:53

Well done Adora I hope they provide the freebie!

babsmam · 03/07/2016 18:17

Rest of today's and yesterday's emotional spends.
£24 dinner in pub, £2. 20 IKEA hotdog, £12.20 Chinese takeout, £109 new motorbike helmet for dh

SpaceKablooie · 03/07/2016 18:32

I'm not sure about Kilner jars - they're not very stable when they're open because of the heavy glass lid. And the metal bits go rusty too. I gave all of mine to a charity shop recently. I do have some screw topped Kilner jars, they're better.

SpaceKablooie · 03/07/2016 18:43

Also, glass is a PITA if you break it everywhere.

WreckTangled · 03/07/2016 18:45

WreckCat has had enough today

needastrongone · 03/07/2016 18:55

Evening. Checking in. Another competition weekend. 2nd at the biggest competition of the season. The top team have ponies that cost £1000's each. I've very proud of our team, who rode their socks off and hearts out for that result.

Also very glad to have 2 weekends off now from travelling the country in a horse box, living in a field for the weekend Smile

Also got approached twice about selling our pony. I could make a fortune on him. Some things are worth more than money Smile

Welcome new folk. We are a friendly bunch here. And supportive, whatever your financial aims or circumstance.

Having a take out as a treat for tea, then back to planning properly and eating the right stuff.

needastrongone · 03/07/2016 18:56

Wreck, that could be me, in a cat suit Grin

Ememem84 · 03/07/2016 18:58

I know. But they look so lovely.

Yes that's my kitchen dream. With or without Jamie Oliver. If he came with the kitchen and made all my dinners it wouldn't be so bad...
