We're staying in Stansted so it's not too far from there I believe and supposed to be a nice city

We arrive on Fri 29th in eve so plan on spending that in hotel at restaurant & bar, then 30th to London/Cambridge, 31st to the other one & we have up to lunchtime on Monday too to do something close by or lounge at hotel

colliepirate · 14/01/2016 08:59

NSD.

Our holiday is in late April so I'm going to start planning frugal things to do. All I want is one day shopping (in all the shops that Cornwall doesn't have!) and the rest of the time investigating mountains, forests and castles. My 4 favourite things.

I'll take ales and treats with us so we can indulge when DS is in bed too.

Love a typical outdoorsy holiday! Grin

Whataboutnodetox · 14/01/2016 10:38

I'm waiting for the sun holidays to work out what we are going to do for a holiday. I have a priority code so I can do it on 17th. If the price is reasonable I'm going to try and book a week in France.

5minutestobed · 14/01/2016 11:38

How do you get priority code what? I am hoping to book us a sun holiday too.

AdoraBell · 14/01/2016 12:29

Ended up in town unexpectedly.

£2.70 on GF bread
£1.90 slice of GF cake. Free coffee though with my loyalty cardGrin

SpottyTeacakes · 14/01/2016 12:38

SpottyTeacakes · 14/01/2016 12:46

Actually I think I threw it away sorry Blush

northender · 14/01/2016 13:09

Thanks for the new thread but I'm already struggling to keep up with the pace of it!
Not much spending here this week. Having a horrendous time at work but as I worked at the weekend I now have a few days off so I'm trying to wind down.
Parents evening for ds tonight ahead of taking his options, will try to catch up properly later

FantaSea · 14/01/2016 14:42

northender sorry work is so tough for you Flowers

I need petrol but I am going to try and eek out the fumes until Saturday so a NSD for me today Smile

lilacclery · 14/01/2016 15:15

Today I spent €25.01 on diesel, €4 on lunch and €7 on getting my eyebrows done. I also spent €30 on meat, my first trip to the butchers of 2016. As this is budgeted for I tend not to worry about it as much.

Bought a 3 course dinner for two in Marco Pierre White's Steakhouse and the tickets for Peter Pan gone wrong for €150 as opposed to Ripley's, Peter Pan and Planet Hollywood for €225.

CremeEggThief · 14/01/2016 16:09

£1 bottle of water and £7 on bus to work. It took nearly an hour and a half instead of 45 minutes, due to snow.

needastrongone · 14/01/2016 16:13

£85 in the end at the Vets, for dog2's snip and some steroid cream for dog1 as he's licking his paw and making it bleed.

Sorry about your work struggles north

Whataboutnodetox · 14/01/2016 16:47

NSD! I really want to buy a book though.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/01/2016 17:37

£10 on a new swimsuit for dd. I probably could have got cheaper at a supermarket but this is a zoggs one so should be good and hers spent most of her lesson up her bum HmmGrin

Ememem84 · 14/01/2016 17:39

Nsd! Will update later am humming. Don't want to fall off cross trainer again

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/01/2016 19:16

NSD

Welcome Wits

Ememem84 · 14/01/2016 19:23

Nsd. Almost was a spend day. But talked myself out of a chai latte and a chocolate brownie this afternoon.

Walked around town at lunchtime. Stopped in mango, reiss jigsaw and Tommy Hilfiger (only because their sales are usually great) utter tat. Nothing I wanted. Smile

Dh spent £70 on jeans and a denim shirt but was vouchers so ok.

Gymmed tonight. then walked home. Cafe next to gym was cooking some wickedtasty smelling garlic chips. I suspect they would have put cheese on them too....!

Dinner was rather fancy tonight. Baked Pesto crusted salmon, on pea, Parmesan and broccoli rissotto with watercress rocket and spinach salad.

Dh is making pizza dough for tomorrow. I've done my tax form.

Have to go see the tax people tomorrow to have a moan. Somehow they think I'm self employed. So have apparently been charging me tax at a higher rate. Despite the fact my employer pays it on my behalf. Idiots.

Hopin. For a refund. But they'll more than likely offset it against this years tax.

574ejones · 14/01/2016 19:34

North we have Options coming up for DS2 next week. I really don't understand the new GCSEs.

£16.50 on takeaway and a little top up shop because none of us fancied frozen pizza and it's bloody freezing here Blush

fuzzpig · 14/01/2016 19:39

Spendy day. Tomorrow will be spendy too!hr

In other news... RIP Alan Rickman :( :( :( so sad.

Pointlessfan · 14/01/2016 19:44

Don't worry 574 I'm a teacher and I don't understand the new GCSEs either. The new specification for my subject still hasn't been released, we are meant to have it all planned, resourced etc ready to teach in Sept. Wish they'd get on with it.
collie your holidays sound just like ours, right down to taking some ales to enjoy in the evenings!
Just spent £1 on chocolate but that's it for today.

Ursulatodd · 14/01/2016 19:54

Lidl was good! I had a cheese pastry and a croissant and it they was delicious Smile also picked up boring milk, bread, tea bags and more excitingly capers, feta, couscous. I spent £10.59 which I think is more expensive than Aldi but I will definitely go back as their meat looked really good (didn't want to take a bag full of pork chops to my course!)

Spotty I didn't see the books - I remember you mentioning them up thread for bday presents - I'm intrigued?!!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/01/2016 19:59

ursula they're these...

We are Resolutely Frugal! Frugaleers continuing their new frugal year. All welcome!
Pointlessfan · 14/01/2016 20:11

How cool are those books?? Might have to pop into Lidl...

LollipopViolet · 14/01/2016 20:25

Ugh, a very spend-y few days. New job is awesome, but don't get paid till end of Feb due to payroll cut off dates :( I'll be fine, all the bills have gone out now, but had to spend £30 on taxis in the last few days due to rotten buses.

Still, will be able to pull it back. It'll be fine.

Whataboutnodetox · 14/01/2016 20:26

I might pop to lidl for s few of those!
