Sorry I got Whatsa and Needa muddled up Blush My last post was a nod to yours Needa but think you worked that out! In my defence its been a looooooong day Grin I really struggle to find the £15 a lesson (horse riding) for dd but she loves it so much couldn't stop now! She seems quite good at it as well, already riding independently after less than 6 months of lessons? Am hoping eventually she will help out at the stables as well in exchange for lessons.

Popped over to see my best friend as its her bday, picked her up a very gooey chocolate cake from Tescos for £2 and put a few candles on it - she was very pleased! Gave her the gloves and scarf I picked up in the Accessorize sale which she also seemed to love so all good Smile

This month is going to be particularly awful as my registration fees came out, i had forgotten about them. Going to be unavoidable to go over drawn unfortunately Sad hopefully now my hours have gone up October will be better!

Collieputthekettleon · 03/09/2015 21:38

ohhelp you star! I have been waiting for Tassimo offers for yonks. Thank you Smile

peppansalt · 03/09/2015 21:47

So in the spirit of being more time/money savvy I only cooked one meal tonight for me and DCs (DH home late). We had lots of leftovers so dinner was hotdogs (veggie for me), salad and wedges. DCs very bemused by me sitting down to eat with them Blush - shows what a rare occurrence it is.

Felt very odd to be eating at 5.30 but on the plus side I got so much more done this evening and kids were in bed by 8!

Hello again, so I've just spent the last hour skimming through the thread so welcome to all newbies!! :) I loved the app, I don't understand why they've removed it, but well... Let's hope it gets moving again soon.

Thanks for the welcome back pointless, and laska, glad you made the recipes - was it the aubergine thing? And something else??

Tell me what sort of meat or dishes you like and I'll get you some more! ;)

Still v happy about the windfall of the tax refund. I couldn't believe how much tax was paid.

Another happy money related thing - September means my dd is starting school which means no more nursery fees!! £10k saving! Yes it means paying after school club but this can be paid for by the childcare voucher deduction thing from my salary. For the first time since forever, I've paid after school club through the vouchers. Still my money, but still no extra cheques to be signed!! So pleased. I will use some of that to pay the 0% cc I recently took out to pay for flights home at Christmas. Hopefully the bill comes soon. Slightly worried why it's still not arrived.

Tomorrow will be spendy as have my hair cut and dd's. Mine also a colour.

Today was an nsd.

lilacclery · 03/09/2015 22:51

Drat drat & double drat!
Bought diesel & the shops reward card saved me 2c per litre, bought soup for dinner as I'm stuffed with cold & that appealed to me!
Drove home, met a tractor on the road that had no lights on trailer & it made bits of my wing mirror & my car is going for nct on Sunday morning AngryAngry
Then centre I do my class in rang to say they found my bank cards so I don't have them either! Might get a work colleague to pick them up tomo for me.

We had our first day of school today and it went okay. It was nice to see the people again, and ds says he has two friends. They are good, well behaved boys so I am very relieved. :-)

I was super-efficient and used the day to get the boiler serviced. The man said it was in tip-top form, but after he left, it packed up and now we have no heating or hot water, so we are on immersion heater and convection heaters until tomorrow. Never a dull moment eh?

Anyway, first day of school done. Woot!

ipsos · 04/09/2015 00:40

Does anybody else pass the time by fantasy house shopping on rightmove.co.uk? I think that's a great free pastime. :-)

babsmam · 04/09/2015 06:32

Welcome back nk.
Bad luck on the car lilac
Bloody hell didn't realise Ascot was that expensive, £500 in a day on 2 things is good going.

babsmam · 04/09/2015 06:34

That was for freeand, I had to track back to remember who.
£47.99 on lakeland airer towel thing. Sick of wet towels everywhere.

I contemplated putting the heating on yesterday but didn't as it's wrong this early in September

babsmam · 04/09/2015 06:35

Yes ipsos I do, would love to move house but it's not gonna happen soon.

Pointlessfan · 04/09/2015 06:51

Oh no lilac! Hope today is better.
I am obsessed with Rightmove! Every time a house nearby goes up for sale I look at all the photos and plan how I would extend/decorate etc.
Pleased the first day of school was ok ipsos.
Today actually should be a NSD although if I get out of work early enough I'm treating myself to a pre-birthday coffee before I collect DD from nursery.

Ememem84 · 04/09/2015 06:55

Another eBay bidding war overnight!!!! I am probably far too excited about this

Collieputthekettleon · 04/09/2015 07:13

lilac oh that's rotten luck :(

ipsos I love Rightmove. I went on it yesterday to see if our previous houses are for sale or rent. Wanted to see what they look like now. One of our old flats was on and it looks so different.

ememem I also get excited about a bidding war. I'm new to selling on eBay and I always expect stuff to go for £3 or less. So when there is a bidding war and the price goes up and up and up I get so excited. And then I panic that the buyer is expecting something else / or in perfect condition (even though we list everything as used/worn). Grin

Collieputthekettleon · 04/09/2015 07:31

Has anyone else signed up to Nectar Canvass? It's a survey site to earn Nectar points. I signed up 3 days ago and have earnt 260 Nectar points already!

To put that in perspective I spent £155 at Argos and got 155 points last week. So 260 Nectar points for free is brilliant!

Ememem84 · 04/09/2015 07:39

collie that's exactly it. Today they're warring over a sunglasses case. To me it's nothing special. But apparently someone wants it.

It won't be an nsd today though am hoping for lsd. Going out for lunch with dh. A new hotdog place has opened in town so we're going to be naughty and check it out.

Hopefully I'll receive something back from my medical insurance people today to reimburse for my Drs visit.

peppansalt · 04/09/2015 08:10

Babsman - I thought Lakeland heated airers were about £100! is there a sale on??

northender · 04/09/2015 08:44

Thank you for all your support re ds, we're back from London now and he has 2 chest braces fitted and a whole bunch of exercises to do every day. He was amazingly tough about it so I was v proud. There was one point when he had tried them on and realised the enormity of it that I thought he would either cry or punch something but he gritted his teeth and managed Smile. At the end of the day he's 14 now so it's not going to be easy but if he complies it will correct the deformity so will be very worth it.

So, London was spendier than planned but mostly because I felt sorry for DS when he was clearly in pain so we spent money in M&S food for the train Grin. We had a few hours to kill while the brace was made and he chose to go into central London (we were in outer suburbs) which was only £11 with railcard. We then wandered round sightseeing for free. Bought a couple of Christmas presents £20 and a little pressie (notebook from Paperchase) for dd as she was feeling a bit overlooked I think.

Now need to budget for travel to several follow up appointments over the next 12 months. Sorry for a very me, me, me post but it's been quite a couple of days. Will catch up with everyone else's frugalising later

Collieputthekettleon · 04/09/2015 08:54

northender your DS sounds brave. Bless him! The next time you go to London and have a few hours to spare you could catch the Number 11 bus. It basically follows the sightseeing bus route through central London. And obviously much cheaper. Grin this was my old commute and its beautiful. Especially when the Christmas lights go up.

ipsos · 04/09/2015 09:14

Well done northender, it sounds as if that is going to brilliant for your ds in the long run.

ipsos · 04/09/2015 09:15

Our gas man has come and unwedged our central heating system now. It turned out that it needed cleaned out, so they're doing that. Nice to have heating again. :-)

QforCucumber · 04/09/2015 09:21

Oooo ipsos dp's friend came and did that for us not too long ago, the amount of black sludge which he took out of the pipes was disgusting (yet oddly hypnotising)

hoping for a very lsd today, and all weekend really. realised i need a haircut (not been done in over 2 years easily) and that'll cost me about £35 just for the cut and finish, I figure 3 nsd's this week covers me for it.

ipsos · 04/09/2015 09:50

LOL! Q. I look forward to seeing that then. :-)

I like your hairdressing plan. I also have very cheap inexpensive hairdos and it always seems to work out fine. Smile

lilacclery · 04/09/2015 10:23

pointless and ipsos I joined a fb group called make a house a home, it's all people just changing a corner of a room or painting things or changing things but it's free and I'll get ideas for when I redecorate too. Really need to paint spare room to make it into the kids bedroom as they're in a small one at present. That means redoing their room to make it into a guest room again & the sitting room badly needs painting. Would love to have sitting room done for Christmas but the kids bedroom is more important!! And dh is the painter in our house and he's never free!!

pointless day didn't start out great I have a wicked headcold so slept through first alarm and only woke when alarm to leave the house rang, quick brush of teeth and hair, fed the cats, put a wash of nappies on, other clothes in dryer, grabbed a sachet of porridge and tin of pears to get me up to lunchtime and out the door, at work 5 mins later than usual so not bad!!

northender your ds is very brave, and sounds like the rest of your day was nice.

Must put a few things up for sale on ebay, did once before and actually ended up costing me 50c more than I earned to post and pay fees! What's involved?

AuditAngel · 04/09/2015 10:26

Hi everyone. £149 on Tesco shop. £28 on dancing shoes for DS (he wanted the same as he has just worn out) plies ballet shoes for DD2, saw some very cheap ballet shoes so bought DD1 next size up (of corse, couldn't get DD2's size in the cheap ones!)

Need to get diesel today, and really need to get the car washed/hoovered before my sisters wedding tomorrow. Not quite sure how I will fit that in!

AuditAngel · 04/09/2015 10:28

Oh yes, and £15 for DT materials and £17.50 for cooking ingredients for DS for school. It does A&E frugal sense as they buy sufficient for the children rather than presenting us with lists of ingredients each week
