Hi all,

Just wondering how covid is presenting now? Is there any respiratory symptoms / breathlessness with this strain?

OP posts:
Coffeespill · 04/01/2024 22:28

Diarrhoea, sore throat, cough

AuntySueDoesntGiveAShit · 04/01/2024 22:28

Runny nose, cough and breathless.

Tel12 · 04/01/2024 22:30

Chronic cough, fever, sore throat.

stayathomer · 04/01/2024 22:30

Had temperature (nearly hot flushes!) horrendous throat, horrible wet cough, blocked up nose, but didn’t get the burn in the chest I got last time. Oh and headaches, and was so tired and horrendous nightmares(!)

I had a headache with mine, sneezing, runny nose and aching joints.

Scutterbug · 04/01/2024 22:34

My mum has it. She says she feels like she has the flu - aching, temp, fatigue, headache, runny nose, cough.

Runny nose
Cough
breathlessness
Headache
Weakness
exhaustion
Muscle aches

These are the exact same symptoms I had also (I’m now on day 10).

I've got it at the moment.- I've had one of the worst coughs I've ever had and it has flared up costochondritis really badly. Also: breathlessness; muscle aches; shivers; fever; exhaustion; headache; blocked nose and nausea. It seems very contagious too, my whole family has it. Definitely wouldn't want this again and I really wish I had an option to get vaccinated.

Yes all the above and just generally feeling unbelievably miserable and exhausted. Poor DC are on school holidays and DH is working so the DC are having far too much tv/screen time while eating the remaining Christmas treats while I'm like a zombie. I actually gave them a scare yesterday the coughing was so bad. Luckily DH finished work early every night to get home and make dinner

Coffeespill · 04/01/2024 22:37

Oh yes and incredibly weepy for a day or two which I remember from last time

mummamum · 04/01/2024 22:39

We've all just had Covid over Xmas. In our family the main symptoms were:

Massive headache (everyone)
Feeling achy/ flu like (4 people)
Runny nose (6 people)
Lost sense of taste and smell (1 person)
Sore throat (1 person)

No one had a cough

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/01/2024 22:42

I had terrible insomnia and restlessness and flu symptoms/ fever/ loss of taste and smell. Dh had full blown head cold and sneezes.

HardcoreLadyType · 04/01/2024 22:44

I had Covid over Christmas, as did my husband. We thought it was a bit of a cold (sneezing, coughing) except my husband lost his sense of smell, so we tested. My husband was sicker than I was, and rested in bed for a couple of afternoons. I didn’t need to take time off work, or rest any more than usual, really.

The thing is, you don’t know how it will affect you, or people who may catch it from you. Not everyone will have the same experience.

We were very careful to wash our hands a lot, and wear masks when near our children (home from uni) and they did not catch it from us.

I had it in November. First day was a dry cough but felt fine. Second day I had a burning chest but still felt OK. Third day I felt like I'd been hit by a truck - aching all over, fever, raving heart. Felt too weak to pick up a book or my phone. Gradually got better but it took a couple of weeks to recover.

Inlimoin50s · 04/01/2024 23:15

I tested positive today after feeling strange yesterday. Very heady and wanting to shut my eyes a lot but then periods of feeling fine. Shivers all eve,I couldn't get warm even with electric blanket and hot water bottles.
Today heady again with runhy nose but no cold.
Slight cough.
Feel petty good tonight, just funny nose and fatigue.

Mamafromthebeach · 05/01/2024 04:29

I am on day 4 or 5.

First symptom was a dry throat which progressed to being very sore
Then mild fever/body aches (controlled pretty well with paracetamol) Tested positive here.
Yesterday cough and continued fatigue/mild fever
Today fever has gone (fingers crossed) and I have a very runny nose and sneezy. Cough still there but better than yesterday. And feel very teary about everything.
Hoping I am on the improve tomorrow.

bestofall · 05/01/2024 05:02

I had it last month....

Throat so sore, it felt as though it had been shredded with razor blades

Tiredness

Heavy sinuses as though full of a head cold

Loss of smell & taste (but could have been due to sinuses being blocked)

JanglingJack · 05/01/2024 05:07

I vomited for the first time with this one.
I didn't have a cough, but my Mum did that weeks to shake.
Very very tired. Not too achy with paracetamol.
Lost sense of smell (again - I don't think it fully recovered from the first 2 times).

Catswillbecats · 05/01/2024 05:36

Just tested positive for the first time. I am a frontline worker so fully vaccinated. I have had fatigue since Monday, very restless and laying awake , aches started yesterday. I have a temp and itchy eyes. So far no cough and I can definitely smell and taste. Feel very low. In the night I was crying for my
Mum (who died 23 years ago)

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/01/2024 06:14

I have it for the first time.

Started like a usual cold - sore throat, snotty nose etc
Quickly turned into nose pouring constantly like a tap was on and thick head and flu type symptoms
Extreme shivering and unable to keep warm
Dodgy stomach
Cough
Unable to sleep at all for 3 days, now can get small amounts of sleep (I'm a crap sleeper usually anyway)
Fever
Itchiest eyes I've ever had, was driving me crazy
Weakness and exhaustion
Have now lost my sense of taste and smell but am having phantom smells

All the symptoms are horrible but are only a couple of days each apart from the snottiness, cough and dodgy stomach which I've had throughout.
It's not as bad a flu.

I read today that the new strain includes the symptoms being unable to sleep and anxiety which several on this thread have mentioned suffering from.

Princesspollyyy · 05/01/2024 06:22

I had it before Christmas. For me it was:

Severe flu like symptoms
Fatigue (had to spend most of the day in bed or lying on sofa)
Aching painful limbs

I was poorly for 4-5 weeks.

CestlaADHD · 05/01/2024 07:14

I’m on day 8.

Cold like symptoms - snotty, coughing, streaming nose. Heavy until about day 5.
Fatigue - on the sofa for days. Found it hard to even watch TV or nap.
A bit achy and shivering at times.
The most lingering symptoms have been lack of appetite and nausea. I’ve also lost my sense of smell (it’s at about 20% of normal).

No headache or temperature. Sleep has been fine. No anxiety, but I have ADHD so anxiety is my norm and deal with this on the daily anyway.
