How is COVID presenting now?

I stopped following about covid and I'm wondering, how is it presenting now? What are peoples symptoms.

My mother was in town last week and so was I. I heard soany people with stuff and viral things and coughs. My mother has a sore throat now. She was definitely exposed to something whatever it is. Just wondering if COVID starts off as a sore throat?

Sore throat, every cell in my body aches, runny nose, sneezing, sore head that painkillers are barely touching. 🤬

ADHDDDDDDDBOOM · 18/08/2023 14:10

My PIL currently have it, sore throat being the main symptom from what I can gather

Lindy2 · 18/08/2023 14:26

It's always presented differently in different people.

A sore throat and headache is often the first sign of any virus.

I think my children may have had it last week although I'm not 100% sure. One had a very stuffy and runny nose with a lot of sneezing. The other had loss of appetite and stomach ache.

We've been on holiday in Cornwall where there is a lot of coughing and sneezing going on. Other friends who have been on holiday elsewhere are also getting positive Covid test results now. I think this is just how August is going to be from now on. At least it gets it out of the way for a while before school restarts.

I started with minor sore throat and dry cough. Then the next day high temp (can barely get out of bed) throat congested and sore, no voice, chesty cough, blocked nose, low oxygen sats, difficulty breathing, elevated heart rate, headache (hmm... should check blood pressure, which is high enough that I have elevated risk factors). Minor aches but I'm on strong painkillers anyway so maybe don't feel them so much.

Can anyone tell me how long the high temp tends to last?

DH (who gave it to me) had sore throat, fatigue, very dry cough, slight temp, ached badly all over, followed by sneezing and general coldy-ness. He's still tired and coughing a bit but the worst was over in 4 days.

I’ve got it at the moment. Day 4. Started with achy legs and a bit of appetite loss. Then a sore throat, stuffed up nose and sneezing. Headaches on day 2-3. Today I’m feeling much better. Nose just feels a bit ‘raw’ and one of my ears is blocked, plus a bit tired. I didn’t have a fever at all. I got it off family members and they had very similar symptoms.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 19/08/2023 11:19

Dh currently has it. Presenting similar to flu I guess. He’s lying in bed moaning a lot. Says he aches all over, can’t sleep very well. He’s not coughing.

I'm just back from holiday. Had mega sore ears on aeroplane and started with sore throat and cough few hours after getting home. Tested as I have vulnerable parents. I'm knackered by landed early hours and now coughing and ears blocked. I'd have assumed aeroplane big pre covid but had planned to see folks hence testing and here we are. Not had ot before and have asthma so I'm a bit fearful my chest will be affected and hoping for the mild cold like version

whiffyhouse · 20/08/2023 21:48

Got high temp now. Don't think I'll be back to work tomorrow and feel horribly guilty

itsamedicalmystery · 20/08/2023 22:05

Just got over it. For me the early symptom was a banging head. Usually I'm a two paracetamol kinda person and that's it, it's gone. But over the course of the day I'd taken the maximum dose and it still hadn't gone. Then followed the snots, the aching, the sore throat. Only tested as I was supposed to be going to the dentist. I'm on day 5 now and I feel fine, just a little bunged up but nothing I can't cope with.

Lessstressedhemum · 21/08/2023 18:37

Unbelievable headache and sore neck, fever, sore throat, harsh cough, painful sinuses, weakness in legs. Extreme fatigue. Oh, and I passed out in the shower.

Vargas · 21/08/2023 21:36

Mild sore throat, sore eyes, tinnitus, fatigue, sore sinuses, mild headache, low appetite.

Day 5 and feeling a bit better.

Houseneedsalift · 21/08/2023 22:15

Headaches kicked in here today too after starting with sore throat and cough then fever
I feel wiped out. Not like a regular cold just so so lethargic and blurry vision too

Howmanysleepsnow · 21/08/2023 22:20

DH has it. Caught in south of France so presumably Eris. Started with sore throat, then stuffy head. Within 24h high temperature, banging headache, aching limbs, major fatigue, eye pain, light sensitivity, cough (not horrendous but definitely present) and diarrhoea.

betwelve · 21/08/2023 22:23

Like others, severe and rapid onset headache was the outstanding initial symptom, followed by temperature, weakness and ear symptoms. Plus usual fatigue etc.

The severity of the headache and the ear symptoms were different from previous covid infections for me.

betwelve · 21/08/2023 22:24

Also, I'm afraid to say this latest "headache led" covid has been much worse than previous infections for me.

Rocket1982 · 21/08/2023 22:26

Have it now. Headache day 1 and 2, sore throat day 2, generally rough, weak, brain fog day 3, runny nose day 4, day 5 a bit of a cough, day 6 feeling mostly over it but tired though still strong positive. It felt like a moderate cold with extra headache. Was much worse last autumn the first time.

SM4713 · 21/08/2023 22:26

OP- has your mum tested yet?

K73c · 22/08/2023 11:52

Days 1/2 Headache and blocked sinuses plus day 3 more fatigued ,loss appetite, sore throat cold . Today v v washed out ,bad cold and ?going to chest . No energy at all . So far DH and teens fine . My immunity not great though .

thaegumathteth · 22/08/2023 11:55

I had it a couple of months ago. Basically a really really snotty nose. Dd was the same. Both had slight fever.

betwelve · 22/08/2023 11:59

Yes, as @K73c said the sinuses are involved in one of the new strains that are around. Sinuses/ears and headache.

tryingtoflourish · 22/08/2023 12:30

I'm on day four. Sore throat, nasty banging headache, ear ache, swollen glands, body pains, snotty nose, then cough and painful chest, and now horrid fatigue, dizziness and dirohea.

Houseneedsalift · 22/08/2023 13:27

I've not got out of bed properly since Saturday lunch time. Is anyone else in bed or am I just pathetic?

tryingtoflourish · 22/08/2023 14:15

I'm also in bed. Anything more than five minutes upright and I feel like I am about to faint

Get well soon. DH is about to don the dressing gown of doom now I fear...he's complaining of headache and testing

verdantverdure · 22/08/2023 15:15

This covid absolutely felled me. I have been too weak to stand up for long.I didn't eat unless somebody made something and put it in front of me and I have slept round the clock.

Covid number 5 has been my sleepiest and snottiest yet. I sound like a warthog lying down. And my ears are itchy and squelchy.

It started with headache, sore throatand and weird upset stomach feeling and absolutely crushing "oh my god am I going to be able to make it home" tiredness. No real cough though until the tail end.
