Would this influence anyone from getting the next booster?

*They're all going to be dubious websites...don't you get that?
It doesn't matter what website, what doctor, what study; as soon as it says anything against vaccines it becomes 'dubious' 'antivax' etc etc. *

Jesus wept.

I find being told you lack critical skills, you're an anti vaxxer, you don't understand research and lots of other condescending remarks quite an odd response to someone asking if the booster is a good idea. But here we are...

Well it's tricky to assume anything else when you haven't acknowledged any of the glaring issues with the website you've linked?

I can appreciate someone not realising, but now you've had it pointed out to you, do you see the issues with it?

PhoneWaiting · 20/09/2022 22:23

No.
I acknowledge that some people will have injuries and die from the vaccine. But for me the risk of covid each time is worse. People who are affected with the vaccine are likely to be those young people who died or got long covid from covid infections. It’s all shit and no good answer for vaccines or not depending on your personal circumstances.
Just wish the government hadn’t misled the public mark them think a vaccine gave them some sort of covid force field around them.

A year ago the JCVI was the go to authority on whether children should have the jab. Now they are discredited and dismissed; even within this thread.

There will never be a good website or doctor. They are ridiculed as not the 'right' doctor or biased.

No - people have specifically explained the issues with the website you've linked.

SudocremOnEverything · 20/09/2022 22:24

is it somehow that you don’t realise that we all know that medical science is imperfect? Or that sometimes things go horribly wrong?

Or that things going wrong in areas where you are making some really hard calls, like how to treat potentially very dangerous epilepsy during pregnancy, might be more likely than in other areas?

and still we aren’t impressed with anti vax shite and conspiracy theory. It’s distasteful to imply there’s some sort of conspiracy and do so while linking up an article about some dreadful effects of trying to treat epilepsy (also not a conspiracy - however terrible the outcomes).

If you don’t want to be vaccinated, fine. But absolutely nothing about this thread was genuinely looking to understand or ask questions. Was it?

Reallyreallyborednow · 20/09/2022 22:26

nope.

link a literature review, a Cochran report, a nice report, a WHO report. They are all “good websites”, independent of vaccine manufacturers.

plenty of reputable websites, they just don’t say what you want them to.

vaccines aren’t always promoted over everything else. It’s a decision based on the available information and risk/benefit.

I have a job, children and I sleep for 8 hours a day. I can't keep up with every comment nor can I be bothered to answer people who assume I'm dumb with no understanding of scientific research.

To discredit the website is an easy hit. The links on the website come from reputable places. (Disclaimer; I've clicked and read a lot of them, but confess I have not managed to read all 1,000 of them)

Yes @SudocremOnEverything

There's a lot more context to the sodium valporate story than just "big pharma cover up" - I was treated in neurology maybe 10 years ago and was firmly told it would never be prescribed for me whilst I was of child bearing age.

I'm guessing it's different in cases of severe epilepsy, like you've explained.

SudocremOnEverything · 20/09/2022 22:27

No one is dismissing the JCVI.

It seems you can only think in extremes.

which is pretty much textbook.

ChilliBandit · 20/09/2022 22:27

What other worldviews do you subscribe to OP? Is covid a hoax? Is it all a big plot by the WEF? Is Bill Gates microchipping us all?

Oh god

People have explained to you how meta analysis and evidence synthesis work.

Many of those articles are not empirical evidence - I already copied one which was a title about how HCPs should deal with myocarditis.

I also asked why you don't see an issue with all the "vaccine injured" stories from people which are lies - like Justin Bieber.

Nobody is assuming. You're giving us all the evidence we need.

orbitalcrisis · 20/09/2022 22:31

The JCVI said not to vaccinate children a year ago as we did not have enough information. Now we have more information they say we should vaccinate children. The only people ignoring them now are anti-vaxxers. The same anti-vaxxers that said we should listen to them when it served their purposes!

sunglassesonthetable · 20/09/2022 22:32

Tbh who cares if you don't get the next booster, crack on. Don't have it. Whatever.

The vaccine has serious credibility and gains more as more people have it. I don't know a single person or their children who haven't or wouldn't have it.

Don't think you are really interested in anyone's opinion on here. You didn't make any responses, just stuck up more anti medical headliners.

Personally I think this is really a sort of anti vax pr outing.

SudocremOnEverything · 20/09/2022 22:34

Do you think it’s like when the Mormons send their kids abroad on a mission, except antivaxxers have to go out and bother people on message boards across the internet. Sarah, you’re lucky. You’ve been chosen to spread the truth to MNers today.

@MissConductUS I thought Stamford was in Connecticut or is it like Kansas City? There's loads of them!

It is, in the state's southwest corner, not far from the border with New York. It is much smaller than Kansas City.

foliageeverywhere · 20/09/2022 20:55

No from the OP's latest update!

"....science can move real slow"

I think a couple of people have pointed out now that these "anti-vax" threads seem to appear in the middle of the night, and it made me notice the americanism

That would be considered very poor grammar, even in the US.

Makes you wonder🤷‍♀️😁 Doesn't seem to be any real interest or curiosity in anything someone else can bring to the discussion. Just a very combative approach.

omg I'm starting my own conspiracy!!! 😂

orbitalcrisis · 20/09/2022 22:44

@MissConductUS Ah! I thought you had said it was on Long Island so I thought was thinking of a different Stamford. Don't trust their Hertz car rental, they tried to rip me off for several thousand dollars a few years back!

threepointonefourone · 20/09/2022 22:48

Why is it that the people least equipped to actually critically interrogate medical research seem to be the most vocal about doing so?

what’s the first rule of the Dunning Kruger club?
you don’t know you are a member of the Dunning Kruger club

Reallyreallyborednow · 20/09/2022 22:52

I have a job, children and I sleep for 8 hours a day. I can't keep up with every comment nor can I be bothered to answer people who assume I'm dumb with no understanding of scientific research

yet you have enough time to read, understand and critically review covid vaccine literature and research, to a level that makes you more informed than people who do that as a full time job?

🤔

No, I said Long Island Sound, which is part of the Atlantic that separates Long Island NY from the shore of Connecticut to its north.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Island_Sound

Where was the Stamford where Hertz tried to rip you off? Did they try to charge you for damage to the car?
