Would this influence anyone from getting the next booster?

Nope - not at all.

JenJones5 · 19/09/2022 19:57

sassandfaff · 19/09/2022 19:55

Definitely not. Why would it put anyone off? Surely, if anything, it’d do the opposite.

SudocremOnEverything · 19/09/2022 19:59

That’s a list, but some kind of meta-analysis that says anything about the evidence base whatsoever.

that difference matters a great deal.

Ladybyrd · 19/09/2022 20:01

Yes. It looks like an entirely trustworthy source.
Second only to Wikipedia.

MrsMigginsCat · 19/09/2022 20:03

Not in the slightest. HTH.

Quveas · 19/09/2022 20:07

No because it's rubbish- it is anti anti- vac site.

sassandfaff · 19/09/2022 20:07

I just clicked on one of the links and it took me to an The American Medical Journal. Do they not know what they're talking about? Are they equal with wiki?

OP posts:
Trolltrotters · 19/09/2022 20:07

Nope - that list contains a few case studies which are considered lower quality than a larger randomised trial.

Obviously negative studies shouldn't be discounted but until researchers carry out a meta analysis and review the quality of them, this list wont make me worry

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 19/09/2022 20:07

I've already had mine.

Wanda616 · 19/09/2022 20:08

Oh yes, a website called covid vaccine injuries dot com is going to present a balanced analysis of vaccine benefits compared with adverse effects 😂by the way mum, I've lost my phone and need £1000 for a new one 😂

sassandfaff · 19/09/2022 20:09

@Trolltrotters Which researchers are the gold standard?

OP posts:
Daysy · 19/09/2022 20:10

Even if ALL these 1000 studies are correct, it is still FAR safer to have the vaccine than it is to have covid unvaccinated:

HTH

You do realise that it's easy to put in a link? Doesn't mean endorsement. I can guarantee you that the AMJ is not anti-vaccine, whereas two minutes on the site shows it is ONLY anti- vaccine.

nicknamehelp · 19/09/2022 20:12

Just have the jab. Protect yourself and your loved ones. Chance of "injury" practically 0 (nothing is 0)

dizzydizzydizzy · 19/09/2022 20:13

No. I'll have the next booster.

I prefer to take medical advice from the mainstream medical and scientific viewpoint - which says have the jab.

sassandfaff · 19/09/2022 20:13

It doesn't matter what the site's called, it's always going to be deemed 'antivax' if it doesn't say that vaccines are all singing and dancing though.

The links themselves are all individual links to various scientific/medical studies. Are all 1,000 to be dismissed so quickly as I'm sure you haven't read them all.

OP posts:
grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 19/09/2022 20:15

Meh.

sassandfaff · 19/09/2022 20:16

If a journal publishes a study to say that the chance of heart problems for young men is xyz, if they take the vaccine.....that doesn't mean they're anti-vax.
Surely these things should be studied whatever your viewpoint?

OP posts:
DogDaysNeverEnd · 19/09/2022 20:18

I read a paper for the heck of it (28 which seems to be the same as 29) and the conclusion was that four people presented with unusual heart problems after vaccination, but they all got better after mild treatment (medication) and the damage done by covid is far worse. So yes, the list makes me really confident that lots of very smart people have looked at the effect of the vaccine and decide that it's a far better option than covid, so I'll have the booster thanks!

The web address in the OP makes me suspect the author is not entirely unbiased. 🤔

Fuuuuuckit · 19/09/2022 20:18

I have an un-covid related vaccine injury from getting my first covid vax - I went on to have my second and the booster, and will be going again.

The risks of covid outweigh the risks of vaccine injury, and that's from someone that is part of the statistical few.

ChilliBandit · 19/09/2022 20:21

I am so done with anti-vaxxers with their faux naivety starting threads online to play on peoples fears.

No one has ever said any vaccine is all singing, all dancing. It’s always a numbers game. A 1 in a million chance of vaccine damage vs a 14x higher chance of dying from covid unvaccinated? It’s a no brainer. I am desperately hoping I get offered a covid booster.

underneaththeash · 19/09/2022 20:25

OP every single medical treatment available has potential complications. You can read them openly on the BNF.
bnf.nice.org.uk
including covid vaccines. You don’t need to log onto conspiracy sites, they list complications by frequency.
Everyone’s body responds differently to medication and it’s difficult to predict the exact result in different individuals. Many drugs have common side effects, but as their benefits far out way the negatives.

it’s the same with ALL vaccines. There is a chance of a slight, moderate or severe complication in anyone but the benefits far out way the risks for the majority.

reevonomia · 19/09/2022 20:26

is there evidence that having had covid a few times and all the jabs going that they’re actually still necessary??

I would understand getting more vaccines if you’ve never had Covid and you’ve not had any vax to date?

Yes, there is.

ChilliBandit · 19/09/2022 20:29

@reevonomia - Cases are still rising in places and mutations still likely to I’d say yes, very much so.
