My son has covid and my partner is annoyed

Okay so... my 6 year old tested positive for covid this morning. We live with my partner (his step dad) and our son who is 13 months old and I'm currently 6 months pregnant.
He has completely thrown his toys out of the pram and is refusing to come home because my son has it. I've been keeping him away as much as possible, disinfecting everything, wearing a mask around him. Obviously I don't want to catch it either.
He's in a real strop with me over it all and is like it's all my fault he can't come home. He reckons he is sleeping in his car for the next 5 days. I mean seriously 😳
I'm literally left to look after two children, a baby and a sick child all whilst being pregnant. He has the next 3 days off work. He's refusing to take our child out any day case he has caught it.
Am I being unreasonable to feel completely upset by this whole situation. I feel abandoned.

@SleepingStandingUp

Hope you locked the door so he couldn't get back in op
Yep! For safety and all that of course since he's funked off and abandoned you all!
yumyumpoppycat · 28/01/2022 00:27

Wow op this literally takes the biscuit . So his logic for not fathering his children is that he is a grown man and can do what he wants to avoid getting sick Shock this can't be for real surely! Sorry op he is being really unreasonable Thanks

Good point from a previous poster that if anyone should be isolating it's you as you are pg.

And if your dp thinks this response is just Mumsnet he is wrong, even in the real world I am pretty sure the vast majority would think he is bring an arse and a rubbish dad/ partner

MintJulia · 28/01/2022 00:46

If you are really lucky, he'll stay away permanently. Smile (prays quietly for frost)

What a prat!

SilverontheTree · 28/01/2022 03:27

I’m really worried that you’re having a second child with this person. Start making a get out plan.

Chocaholic9 · 28/01/2022 03:39

You're totally right he's abandoned you. I would be very upset, too. It shows a lack of commitment and responsibility for his own family. Very sad.

Jacaranda75 · 28/01/2022 03:40

Let him sleep in his car. He can park outside the house and you can take his meals out to him. He’ll soon get bored.

GlitterSquid · 28/01/2022 03:54

What other ways does he try to villainise and ostracise your son? Because this won't just be the extent of it......

CourtRand · 28/01/2022 04:39

I slept next to DP with COVID and didn't get it and vice Verda several months later. He's being insane and cruel. I think he just wants some time off being a family man and so is being nasty.

thenewduchessoflapland · 28/01/2022 04:45

Sleeping in his car?

Here's hoping for some very cold nights whilst you get to starfish the lovely warm bed.

Where's he going to the toilet?;is he shitting on the neighbours lawns and flickering dirt over it cat style?

Tee20x · 28/01/2022 04:49

How awful. Ask yourself would he do the same if his own child got covid. Though he sounds crap so perhaps he would.

DefaultParent · 28/01/2022 05:27

He should be helping keep his own 2 children safe by isolating with your eldest but bollocks to them, he's more important eh? Make sure you leave the key in the lock and apply to CMS today.

timeisnotaline · 28/01/2022 05:54

He says he is a grown man and if he wants to do what he can to avoid it then I should respect it.
You’re a grown woman op. If you now have your eyes opened to what a terrible partner and dad he is and never want to share a bed or house with him again then he just has to respect that.

treeflowercat · 28/01/2022 06:13

Did he manage to make it through the night in his car? If so, what now? Unless he goes to work in the same clothes he's been wearing and doesn't wash -which would be gross -, he's surely going to need to come inside at some point?! And what about going to the toilet? Getting food and drink?

treeflowercat · 28/01/2022 06:15

Also, although it clearly doesn't excuse his ridiculous and selfish actions, is there a reason he's so terrified about getting Covid? There must be something that's triggered such a bizarre reaction.

Elderflower14 · 28/01/2022 06:23

Don't feed him!!!! He is an absolute arse.... Give him the heave ho pronto!
spotcheck · 28/01/2022 07:09

He's mingling in society, working etc, and he's angry at a six year old for catching it? It was only a matter if time before one of you got it.
This isn't anxiety about the virus- this is a cold hearted lack of empathy and common sense.
I'd bet my house you have already had to adapt your son's behaviour in small ways to accommodate your husband?

Tynetime · 28/01/2022 07:16

Blood hell what a that. Has he any vulnerability as being pregnant you are definitely more at risk. He should be home supporting you.

Tynetime · 28/01/2022 07:18

.@Jacaranda75

Definitely wouldn't be cooking him meals.

hellcatspangle · 28/01/2022 07:20

He could be spending a long time in his car...you might get it a week after your DS, then pass it onto the little one. Is he up for a few weeks out in the cold?

Bananarama21 · 28/01/2022 07:24

ilovemyboys3 slightly different username but if you look at other threads ops commented on its clearly the same person with the same details and same writing style.

lilkiki · 28/01/2022 07:25

Gosh, he sounds truly awful.

FabriqueBelgique · 28/01/2022 07:27

It’s not covid, it’s him! Ignore his tantrum. He can try and sleep in the car. Good luck to him in this weather.

Hadharra · 28/01/2022 07:31

He sounds unhinged op. He won't change

arethereanyleftatall · 28/01/2022 07:32

Best case scenario is that he's got severe covid anxiety and is acting temporarily different than usual, as the op seems to think.

Except....

That makes it worse. He's so scared of covid, but happy for his unborn baby, toddler and pregnant wife to get it rather than him.

2DogsOnMySofa · 28/01/2022 07:36

How are you this morning op. Hope your dh realised what a complete dick he's been and has come back full of apologies
